So, "Middle-west" here - and oh my goodness, the controversy over pokeweed. It pleases me to no end to see a positive spin on the plant that can grow literally anywhere. And that it, too, has a purpose. When I was a young woman, raising my children, I longed for what you have: land. And, the ability to influence what you take from it. And then, the ability to develop the knowledge on how to process it. I hope that makes sense? At this stage of my life, I won't have that complete dream fulfilled, but so lovely to touch it through your creations here. Thank you.

I am a newbie here. The Polk plant got me interested. I have several in my yard that come back every year. When I was a kid - growing up in TN, we used to go pick Polk salad. I never ate it, but it was my dad's favorite.
I now live in PA. I am new at foraging. I dried Goldenrod, chickory, plaintain, dandelion, purple nettle, purple Violet, and self heal. I have started making salves. I also made a jewelweed tinture since I have poison oak that grows close by.
Your never too old to learn.

I love it! I’m so glad you found this channel. I’m so happy to create a channel that brings people that enjoy making medicine as well. Im slowly learning, and I’m enjoying bringing others along on my learning journey.
I remember when I didn’t have any of this knowledge and it all seemed daunting to learn, but it really is all so simple.
And free, and nontoxic (if you know what you’re doing).

@@HoneybeeHollowFilms I am not sure if it is me or YT but this is twice in the last two days that I have commented on a video and it appears on a different video. I was commenting on Linda's Pantry. Your video was about tinctures made from wildscaped plants. I was going to comment on yours but I wanted to view it a second time before I did. So, I will be back a little later because I did have a comment about Polk weed.

I just found your channel, and when you mentioned finding herbs in your backyard my first response was "not hardly." But I had to bite my tongue because I immediately remembered we have a whole bank of California Buckwheat, and right now there is stinging nettle cropping up everywhere. I should probably take another look at our arid climate native growth to see if I am missing out on other beneficials.

Yes, definitely check again! My husband uses a plant identifying app called PlantNet. From there, once you've identified the plant, head to pfaf.org and check out the uses/medicinal properties.
      Medicine awaits!🥰

    • @HoneybeeHollowFilms

My husband actually built the shelf for us. We use it to store canned goods, as well and different larger kitchen tools on top of the shelf. And underneath, he screwed in those hanging hooks for herb drying. We also have shelving in our pantry for the same purposes.
It was a genius idea! I loved that he thought to do that because now we have our lovely garden herbs all year round, even in the winter.🥰
