I recorded this more than 2 months ago and forgot about it, so here it is now :) Best method to install any kind of accessory like this is to either attach directly to a stud, or have solid blocking behind the drywall to screw it onto. Next best is a toggle bolt, like I used here. Avoid using those crappy plastic expanding anchors that come with these or the screw in type, since they won't hold long term. The only problem I get when using a masonry bit to enlarge a hole in dry wall, is that I never know if the resultant hole will be metric or imperial, so I have both toggles at hand lol
No, but you can use the polyurethane construction adhesive to glue the buttered toast to a cat's back. Buttered toast will always land buttered side down when dropped. A cat will always land feet first when dropped. Put the two together and it will levitate, spinning. An anti-gravity, perpetual motion machine.
One of these (already installed) fell apart in my friends rented apartment, and this video helped me figure out how they work so that I could get the bracket off the wall and re do the screw that holds the loop up. (Would never have seen that itsy bitsy screw on the bottom that holds everything together on my own!) Thanks!
This little ruclips.net/user/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
I work as a handyman, and not kidding 75% of the houses i go in have at least one towel or tp holder dangling on the wall. Every time it’s because of those plastic shitty anchors. I dont know why they send those with the kits. Toggles are my go to, but can be a pain in the ass. Studs are wonderful when they are there (never). Great video!
Thanks so much! This was really helpful for me when I needed to re-install a towel ring that had pulled loose from the wall (because it was installed with one of those dumb plastic screws). My husband will be impressed!
I did not see the construction adhesive coming. You might need to start playing a dramatic musical cue when the construction adhesive comes out. I watch an auto repair channel (south main auto) and his dramatic brake cleaner entrances are one of the things that sets him apart.
Pretty sure I have that same screwdriver... Years ago someone wanted to sharpen the broken tip on my beater pocket knife. Hell no - it's perfect for small screws, like the ones in glasses !
Ironically a Canadian horologist friend turned me onto wall mates, which are gaining traction here in the states. Much prefer them to other methods.... unless there is a stud exactly where it is needed.
Agreed - for anything that will get used heavily like a towel rack a toggle would be much better long term. For everything else they are really nice though. Like the use of PL, John, going to start doing that for permanent things. Besides you have to cut the drywall to patch if you ever remove/replace it anyway.
You always make me laugh John, impact driver as a drill, steak knife as a screwdriver! You must brush your teeth with polyurethane construction adhesive you use it for everything else.
Thanks John- Great idea with the adhesive. Wish I thunk if it, Also I usually put a dab of locktite on the setscrew. Every time I visit my sister her fix it list includes all the towel bars falling down. I got tired of tightening those tiny screws so I made them sit and stay. Any preference between toggle bolts, mollys, plastic drywall anchors or those newfangled screwy things?
Waaaaw i wandering how to install towel ring. According to this video is too much for me to do. I appreciated for this video I thought was easy but not for me. For John is easy.
You keep using that word " polyurethane construction adhesive". I do not think it means what you think it means." - Inigo Montoya Lol. Love your vids John. :D

You need a construction adhesive sponsorship already ;)

Excellent find there sir.
Hey John just wanted to tell you I really appreciate you making all these videos been watching for a few years now and enjoy every last one ! Good job
Thank you!
Towel bar....? You got a lady coming over tonight? Lol

I‘m so glad all the walls in my house have OSB between the drywall and the studs, so all I need are plain wood screws.
Oh, and it’s always kids that pull them down thinking they are going to try out for the Olympics

I have this piece titled "Mr Bond, I Presume?" that's similar to the theme from the 007 movies. Sounds appropriate :)
The most interesting part of this (to me anyway) was the way you did picture in picture from the same recording of one camera! Nicely done John!
Pretty sure I have that same screwdriver...
Years ago someone wanted to sharpen the broken tip on my beater pocket knife. Hell no - it's perfect for small screws, like the ones in glasses !
Ah yes the ol' John Heisz seal of approval.. construction adhesive
Thanks for the tip with the construction adhesive. I think the studs jump around in the wall just to avoid my drill.
The humble toggle bolt is a good option, but here In Australia we use wall mates. And you just can't beat 'em (unless you have a stud obviously)
Ironically a Canadian horologist friend turned me onto wall mates, which are gaining traction here in the states.

If you mean screw in anchors, toggle bolts are at least 10 times stronger. I had to Google "wall mates" to see what you are talking about.

The "super wallmate" looks pretty awesome and includes a toggle like brace. Is that what you mean Ollie?
you often use construction adhesive, what’s your trick to keep it from setting up in the tube ?
You always make me laugh John, impact driver as a drill, steak knife as a screwdriver! You must brush your teeth with polyurethane construction adhesive you use it for everything else.
Woohoooo more PL glue! You're the "PL Master" I'll send you a medal! :D
I dont have electric drill, maybe can use hammer with nail to make hole for the screw to get in the wall?
"Polyurethane construction adhesive - that's my favourite shit" - John Heisz
What would John do with construction adhesive!
Shoutout to the butter knife!
Nicely done John! 👍👊 ..... Should have included ( limited tools ) in the title 😁
You must order that adhesive by the case lol. they should reward you using their product exclusively on your channels.
You could always just glue your towel to the wall..
Using some poly urethane construction adhesive?
Troupster what else would you use?
Thanks John- Great idea with the adhesive. Wish I thunk if it, Also I usually put a dab of locktite on the setscrew. I'd love to have another house tour
Another? I haven't done any at this house yet.
another as in the old house is what I meant
Ah, ok. Won't be a tour until I'm "finished" and then I'll do a before and after showing the inside of the house the day I bought it.
nice, I cant wait!
Good video but I need to know how to fix it when it comes apart.
I really like the zip or snap toggles
Remember the father in My Big Fat Greek Wedding with the Windex?? Remind you of anyone?
John what do you do to preserve your construction adhesive in between uses.
He has a video of that.
Do you remember what one it was or which of his channels
I don't but maybe John will see and post a link. Found it! ruclips.net/video/fNurw7-Aoaw/видео.html
What is that gel he’s using
Easy peezy lemon squeezy. Thanks for the video.
Are you training for the olympics? I think that ring could be used for gymnastics lol
That thing's not going anywhere! Those plastic anchors are great... until you actually want to hang a towel on it.
Of course if you ever have to remove that towel rack, you'll put a big hole in the drywall.
Whew, I am not the only one to use steak knives as a screwdriver!!! :)
Waaaaw i wandering how to install towel ring. According to this video is too much for me to do. I appreciated for this video I thought was easy but not for me. For John is easy.
I swear those toggles say 1"2 hole, and if you made a perfect 1/2" hole they never fit. Im always reaming it out.
Thanks sooo much
Nice!

Lol. Love your vids John. :D
Tool required: (1) steak knife standard screw driver. :)
Merci
that ain't going anywhere!
Steak knife for a screwdriver? Here we use butter knives you savages.
I can communicate with you
Terrible, these drywalls....
