Fact is just that merab’s striking and jiu jitsu was so bad, his wrestling and grappling looked like stalling. Probably actually their plan…. sit on him without losing your own energy = neutralise the speed and distance omalley had over him, force him to climb back up to reduce his volume and energy, throw SAFE strikes from the ground and never move into a position omalley could advance from. But you can’t just sit on the ground and not throw anything or move for 20-30 seconds. He didn’t look for submissions, well he actually did but he doesn’t count because he understand how to properly get his hands together or when to pass up and move. He was more focused on putting on a performance than he was knocking out his opponent Multiple failed submission attempts + omalley consisteny getting up undamaged and atrocious ground striking is a good time to separate Herb made the right call. He was stalling because the longer omalley had to climb back up. The worse he would be in the remaining rounds. And that would’ve made the fight incredibly difficult to score because omalley did ALL the damage and merab got all the control and numbers
Don’t forget Merab MADE Sean look slow, weak and inadequate, he dominated his body and spirit all fight, not unsimilar to what Khabib used to do to his opponents.

The 3 fights before the mains were absolutely insane. Great card all round but the two mains did disappoint, i think a change to the way grappling is scored needs to be changed, if theyre positive and looking for a submission or GNP then great, if its a lay and pray "control" ground game, stand them up.
Omally didn't look like himself? Casual take. Merab was the better fighter and now the Champion. Casual take. Valentina is the best W fighter in UFC right now and top 3 with Cyborg and Amanda.
Personally I don’t get how everyone went from hating O’Malley and calling him a fake star, to liking him and betting on him to win 🤔 I remember not to long ago we were like “Sean is praying Merab doesn’t step in on short notice” and yet when Merab dominated him like we thought he would it’s a big surprise lol. Personally I’m glad O’Malley is out and we get Umar vs Merab because THAT is a good fight 🔥
You guys are the reason UFC is becoming a fight more based off wrestling rather than striking, which each to their own. But cmon, we want knockouts not hugging.
@@Tomtomjameson I've been watching UFC since UFC 1, pride k1 etc, it was always a grappling sport. You can watch boxing, Thai boxing, bare knuckles etc Conor brought in the casuals now casuals complain about grappling.
Theres a sport called boxing where they only strike, it’s pretty great too. I personally prefer MIXED martial arts because it’s all disciplines, therefore different techniques and more ways to win. Merab’s whole strategy was to NOT spam takedowns this time. Because that along with his feints and kicks threw Sean’s rhythm off. That’s why Merab’s blast doubles and singles were perfectly timed. Merab put on a masterclass. Ohh and there’s also Muay Thai if you just want to see striking.
He stole Seán's jacket when Seán and Aljo faced off in the octagon after one of Seán's wins. Then he kissed Seán's back during the fight when he knew there wasn't enough time to submit Seán in that round, to show how dominant he was and how much fun he was having. I think Merab's attitude and sense of fun are great. Imagine if Chandler holding on to the prospect of a Conor fight is unintentionally clever. It means Chandler is willing to fight Conor whenever he's ready, making Conor look unwilling to fight at all.
Oh dude, damn good idea on the camera position!! That would be dope. They would have to get a cam in low, in between the fence mesh, but I'm sure somebody can figure that out 🎥

Anyone remember how 2020 Conor used to go on about how bouts have to proceed. He kept saying Khabib has to fight Tony because he’s been booked 5 times before, and so their fight is meant to be. Funny how the situation with Chandler has turned out. The best situation now is that Conor’s comeback is against El Cucuy himself. Let Ferguson get the red panty night that he was meant to receive all the way back in 2017 when he won the interim. It’s also definitely the only winnable fight for Conor against a big name fighter right now.

Commenters were like, _"Gee, maybe it's because he just moved up a weight class against a skilled boxer who can hit hard."_ The Pain Game? More like The Casual Game.
The problem with UFC is that the champions don't fight at least 3 times a year and every healthy fighter 3-4times. At least one of the normal card on Eu time one for Us and Asia. PPV at the dame prime time.
Merab wins his fight by holding you against the cage for 90% of the fight. That's how he won vs Yan, Aldo, Cejudo. Sean knew that if he engaged more, Merab would take him down and hold him against the cage the entire fight and win due to takedown, ground time, positioning... Sean would be gassed after 2 rounds of that and he probably hoped getting a counter KO blow is the better option than going to war
He would've been better off being more aggressive and trying to win the fight in the first two rounds. Close the distance and blitz more with the strikes. Put Merab on the backfoot.
"Level of talent" hasn't decreased I don't feel....total opposite. The level of excitement and star power per card has definitely been spread way thin, but you can argue the likes of Valentina aer far more talented than most....also annoyingly stifling and boring. I wanted Alessa to submit her so badly.
My man, how do you expect Valentina to fight when she was robbed in the last one? She literally had no choice but to completely shutdown Grasso. And Merab is just a beast. Nothing more humiliating and emasculating than being completely manhandled by another man. Not Merab's fault Sean couldn't deal with the pressure. It takes 2 to tango, broski 👍
Ive always seen O'Malley as massively overrated. Great striker but can't wrestle at all and he didn't even throw much last night. The Sphere show itself was spectacular!
Connor said he has two fights left that’s what’s it’s coming down to he clearly wants to get into boxing massive pay days Vs Canelo Jake KSI Nate Diaz are all available and Dana wants to hold him hostage for as long as possible

Will u fangirls wake the fuck up. He's never fighting again. He never had any intentions of fighting. He can't beat anyone in top 15 and he knows it. Ffs
The only possible fight for Mcgregor that is winnable and against a guy with a big name is Tony Ferguson I guess, but that does literally nothing for Mcgregor, and doesn't even put him back on the rankings in lightweight's top 15 in my opinion
Really, dont get the hate for merab. He fights like a madman and doesn't run out of energy. Spams 15-20 takedowns in 3 round fights. Destroying people's desire to win.
Yeah, the two main fights were poor, especially the co-main, that was one of the worst fights I've seen for a while. I was willing Grasso to get one of those submissions, I'm done with Shevchenko. The Suga fight went exactly as expected, and it will be killing Dana that Merab is champion, thats not going to get big PPV's thats for sure
That UFC event was exciting to me. Merab is exciting even if he's never knocking folks out. This narrative being peddled everywhere is quite interesting.
The problem is the UFC set the benchmark for it's popularity at the height of Conor McGregor's reign as double champion. As much as I dislike the guy as a person he was, at the time, one of, if not the biggest name in sport. He was hugely entertaining outside and inside the octagon. I don't think there has ever been anyone so good at trash talking, with the exception of Ali, and we all lapped it up. The UFC is still very entertaining but not at the level in 2016 and I think thats what we keep comparing it to. I don't think it will ever reach those heights again but it's still one of the most exciting sports to watch.
I dont think the skill level in mma has decreased i think its increased massively even the lower card fighters are high high level making it way harder to get finishes so it may be less exciting than 5 10 years ago but theres no way its because the skill level decreased
Really, dont get the merab hate. He fights like a madman and never runs out of energy. Tries 15-20 takedown attempts in 3 round fights. Destroying people's will to win. In my top 3 favourite fighters.
the broken toe thing is weird now i think about it how it happened so close to the press conference that the ufc staff had started flying over seems very suspicous maybe it was rehab or hes just not in any fit state to fight or train
I could see O'Malley winning the title back, but he definitely needs to be more aggressive/assertive. His striking is really good, he could use it to pressure his opponents into making mistakes and creating openings for O'Malley to capitalize on for counter striking. He should also add more grappling and defensive wrestling to his skill set so that he can potentially force opponents to fight on his terms and reduce the amount the rounds he loses to wrestlers. You're spot on with Chandler and that he needs to cut his losses completely and forget Mcgregor. Sure, Fighting McGregor is a nice payday, but the man can't seem to get his act together long enough to commit to even training, let alone actually fighting. It'd be cool to see Connor back in action, but I don't know if he'll ever be able to properly prepare anymore and if he does, will he still be any good? A lot of time has passed and it feels like the fight game has evolved without him, effectively leaving him behind. How well can Connor perform against today's contenders and champs?
Stop disrespecting the wrestling game! You’re acting as if Sean can learn something in a year what Merab has learned during most of his life. There are levels to this
I don’t know what u see but what I know for sure is Sean won’t see the belt again the real tests are here now Dana or ufc can’t hide him from the umar or merab or sandhagen no more ufc hyped him and tried to hide him from these guys because they knew all along he would lose to these guys

Watching the Merab-Suga fight, it was very entertaining to me, Merab is hilarious and a non-stop mauling machine, this is MMA and I loved it for what it was.
If you don't get paid through your interest in fighting, then to be anything other than a casual is the real L.
Turki could do wonders with that arena given the promo trailers we've had and fights
Chandler finally taking a fight but took him way too long to realise he’s wasting his career waiting for Conor. 2 years down the drain.
At this point I'd say ferguson vs mcgregor, ferguson needs a retirement fight and mcgregor needs a high profile opponent that he can beat.
Umar is a huge favourite for that
Dam skippy
You guys are the reason UFC is becoming a fight more based off wrestling rather than striking, which each to their own. But cmon, we want knockouts not hugging.
@@Tomtomjamesongo watch muay thai
Why's brians head orange? lol
Merab's nose : the 8th wonder of the world. Also it's good to see how far he's come since gta 4
Repeating the commentators bad take , learn the sport of MMA or have low view.
Valentine was on it because she was fighting Grasso who's Mexican.
How’d joey get on last night? 🤣
Don’t be a troll for someone who actually had the balls to go out and fight
Joey was solid when he decided to throw, but it was too late.
Oh dude, damn good idea on the camera position!! That would be dope. They would have to get a cam in low, in between the fence mesh, but I'm sure somebody can figure that out 🎥
Dana wanted to get Sean on the pedestal by doing the satanic rituals but the devil got beat again AlhumdULILLAH
We gotta stop putting down the newly crowned champions especially becasue people dont like their fighting style...they won fair and square and their opponent couldnt do anything plain and simple give the new champion their flowers.
14:40 does he not know the definition of "I am not going to respond....." as he responds 😂
Hahaha I thought the same
Do the raycons work with iPhone?📱
Mcgregor vs Masvidal is the fight to make
I seriously wouldn't pay a cent for Masvidal vs Connor. Anyway, Connor ain't coming back.
Jorge? No.. Chandler vs Conor was the fight to make.
O’Malley is so overrated, buzzing the guy lost he’s a helmet
Don't talk about cowboy like that. He was over the hill. He was a solid fan favorite fighter. A respected mma fighter.
Sean is a newer version of Conor. Once you take away their stand up game. They're done. Barely a novice.
Hiw u judge o malley and other fighters you have never had a fight in your life mate I'm 12 stone on Mrs account I would teach you a very good lesson how do you have an opinion tyson right you never had a fight in your life just look intimidating u know your not anytime you'd like to spar here for you names Matthew 35 12 stone should be easy for you.. You cannot judge anyone unless you had a cage or boxing match yourself
So glad to see O’Malley humbled by Merab lol
we better here a apology from you yappin that whole Joey and cra cra fight
Who cares

Just to be honest, I was a hardcore fan of the UFC but over the last year I’ve turned to a casual just because of the choices that have been made across all weight classes, just made me switch off
Conor is a washed up drunk, instead of being an active fighter, he's doing shots in bars. He's finished and the UFC have moved on from him, IMO
I look at it like he's now an inconvenience to Dana
@@STSauto Defo
Brian isn't daft.....
You were right from the start about Conor 😮
Not a hard one to predict. He was never fighting after the leg break. He says these things to try and stay relevant. Not hard to see
Correction Connor had no run he never defended the title
U just showed in this video that u don't understand combat sports 😂😂😂. Stand up striking or kickboxing is not the only martial art. It's MMA for a reason.😂😂😂 Your takes are like the casuals
Exactly! Dude has no clue about the ufc. He should stick to commentating the Paul brothers and KSI
If you think that's bad, you should see his live "commentary" for the Crawford-Madrimov fight (in boxing). Bro was giving Crawford a hard time for being less aggressive than in his other fights. Commenters were like, _"Gee, maybe it's because he just moved up a weight class against a skilled boxer who can hit hard."_ The Pain Game? More like The Casual Game.
Loving the content Brian
I love that Liam Gallagher is gonna perform at that boxing fight
The problem with UFC is that the champions don't fight at least 3 times a year and every healthy fighter 3-4times. At least one of the normal card on Eu time one for Us and Asia. PPV at the dame prime time.
Strikers don’t tend to do well against wrestlers because of fear of takedowns
Big love Brian. I love all your analysis & content. Kindest regards, Richard U.K
Thats one reason he hasnt been pushed. After khabib, the fans got tired of it
He would've been better off being more aggressive and trying to win the fight in the first two rounds. Close the distance and blitz more with the strikes. Put Merab on the backfoot.
@@adrianpheiffer9960he did dummy first round he was the one pushing merab back but merab isn’t chito he moved around instead of stand stationary
Listen this this guy he actually knows what he’s saying
Best fight of main card and one best fights this year was Daniel
Zellhuber
Esteban
Ribovics
Love your ufc reviews
Always say what I was thinking 🤔
UFC noche was a great spectacle but deserved a better fight card
Clearly just waited for the main card didn’t you? Majority of the other fights were absolute wars
Ye definitely only knew one fighter from the whole card probably only watched Sean fight typical causal talking on what he doesn’t know
The card absolutely delivered. The only two fights with big names sucked you casual
"Level of talent" hasn't decreased I don't feel....total opposite. The level of excitement and star power per card has definitely been spread way thin, but you can argue the likes of Valentina aer far more talented than most....also annoyingly stifling and boring. I wanted Alessa to submit her so badly.
So glad for merab
Jake Paul has had an entire career since McGregor's last fight.
Yeah a pretend career
My man, how do you expect Valentina to fight when she was robbed in the last one? She literally had no choice but to completely shutdown Grasso.
And Merab is just a beast. Nothing more humiliating and emasculating than being completely manhandled by another man. Not Merab's fault Sean couldn't deal with the pressure. It takes 2 to tango, broski 👍
Dana & the ufc should make there own mini sphere, not as big but the same style. That sphere is worth more than the ufc itself lol
Purple hair and being built like a 8yo girl is the worst base for MMA
Ive always seen O'Malley as massively overrated. Great striker but can't wrestle at all and he didn't even throw much last night. The Sphere show itself was spectacular!
And merab can't strike lol
@@Frazzlepops Merab can strike better than sean can grapple 😂

Are you in the Canyon of the Crescent Moon? Is that the grail in the background?
So fights for a belt shouldn’t be on a main card?
Connor said he has two fights left that’s what’s it’s coming down to he clearly wants to get into boxing massive pay days Vs Canelo Jake KSI Nate Diaz are all available and Dana wants to hold him hostage for as long as possible
Lol i dont think McGregor will have any more real sanctioned fights. Maybe a few fights the way mayweather has been doing. I want to see him do a bare knuckle fight eventually. Massive pay day
When does his contract expire though ?
Will u fangirls wake the fuck up. He's never fighting again. He never had any intentions of fighting. He can't beat anyone in top 15 and he knows it. Ffs
@@desertraider8628never
@@desertraider8628I think he just has to fight two more times or not at all idk for certain tho
Ribovic has that dog in him, that was a banger of a fight
Merab was trying to clown Suga but it didn't come off well though. Other than that Merab turn Suga into Chito.
Why would you want a "star" that can't MMA? He's got good striking, good reflexes, a sharp right hand. But you need the whole package in 2024.
The ufc fight cards are great, the talent is so much greater overall. fighters are guaranteed 3 fights per year!
The UFC has been an awful product for quite some time now anyway
It’s only gonna improve until Dana steps down
They have too many fights at apex and not on the rest of the world time.
Just have exciting fights not wresting based
its very hit and miss
It’s like people watch ufc but only like mma and only like kickboxing 😂 the second there’s a wrestling match everyone moans boring
Fr
Oh. But they tell you khabib was different they could watch him wrestle
Yes, rough night for dana white. The 135 belt will now stay in the Caucasus mountains: merab and umar for a long time
If you are saying it was boring then you are not really a fan of MIXED MARTIAL ARTS!!
I dont think the skill level in mma has decreased i think its increased massively even the lower card fighters are high high level making it way harder to get finishes so it may be less exciting than 5 10 years ago but theres no way its because the skill level decreased
UFC is a snooze fest of champions right now 🙄 Dana is not happy
Shevchenko one of the greatest to ever do it not exciting?
Really, dont get the merab hate. He fights like a madman and never runs out of energy. Tries 15-20 takedown attempts in 3 round fights. Destroying people's will to win. In my top 3 favourite fighters.
the broken toe thing is weird now i think about it how it happened so close to the press conference that the ufc staff had started flying over seems very suspicous maybe it was rehab or hes just not in any fit state to fight or train
True Geordie ain't being watching ufc since 2005.
You get 15% off on your NEXT order btw guys
I can’t believe it cost $20million in production
A just love yae big man, hard working dude, great entertainment - a think you'll go all the way to the top ❤
I honestly don’t understand how most of you UFC fans talk about the fighters with such hate 😂 they’re just characters on your screen, stop hating them so much honestly. It’s just a bit of fun on a Saturday not life or death
@true geordie if you want entertainment please just go and stick to watching boxing. This is mma. Mixed martial arts. Some styles are pleasing and ugly in certain eyes.
