Just got mine. Great bag so far. I've got 2 longer trips coming up in the next couple months and the version of this bag with the blue outer area and orange center is particularly good looking IMO. The stretchy side pocket just BARELY fits my 15 pro max phone and the inside is not big enough for the normal ipad but fits my ipad mini just fine. Also, as long as you don't have the bag packed too full, the bungee cord holds a big yeti bottle perfectly.
The patagonia atomic 8L sling is the ultimate win win, the north face is still a decent bag but I wish it was BIGGER to hold an iPad or a small surface pro 7 and the “water bottle pocket” was expandable like the sport sling from Beís (shay Mitchell) AND if you could switch the straps on either side then I would buy this bag…
I got this one yesterday, love it. Never had this kind of backpack before. I already got the North Face Borealis Classic for a few years now. Both great bags for any kind of trips 👍🏼
I’ve been using a Cookies smell proof rat pack for almost 3 years now. It was my first cross body bag and now that I’ve owned a technical backpack for a few months (the north face borealis) I want to get the sling version. But… there is one issue I can’t seem to choose between the Patagonia 8l atom sling or the borealis sling. They are pretty such exactly the same except the borealis has the bungees and a small water bottle compartment. The Patagonia one is bigger since it’s 8l instead of 6l, also I think it’s more stylish. Hmmm 🤔 decisions
@@herb_rolls I ended up buying the Patagonia atom sling and although I do use it you are right about it sliding a lot. The small pouch can’t ever stay put where you want it across your chest it always slides up to my neck so for long hours using the bag it gets annoying. Honestly I should have went with the north face borealis sling. Maybe next time I buy a bag I’ll get it right haha
I purchased for my trip next week and though I haven’t used it for my trip yet wearing it around town has been great very comfortable I’m 5’5 155lbs and I have a lot of extra strap not being used I know the strap length has been mentioned a lot regarding this bag. I can fit my kindle full size wallet keys headphones and diaper and wipes for my kids and not heavy or uncomfortable. Will update after trip
The one thing that sucks about these bags is that it’s always catered to right-handed people. Being left-handed there are limited options. Such a cool back & review.
I agree! I'm right handed and even I miss the possibility of switching it. It's such an unfortunate mistake because they could fix this SO easily. I hope someone over at TNF takes notes and pushes this tweak.
Would have been nice to have more internal pockets like Bellroy slings. Nevertheless, this is still half the price of Bellroy, its a compromise I guess.
It holds one just fine. I usually use my nalgene, which I have to stick in the main compartment. But it will hold a bottle just fine. I also find that if you roll up your rain jacket or keep an umbrella with you if it's in that pocket just fine.
Wish there was one the other way, to be worn with the sling on the back and the strap on left shoulder. I feel handicapped 😅😂 I am right-handed but i wear my shoulder bags on my left shoulder and my watch on my right wrist 😂
I need some help! I’m looking for a sling like this size it’s perfect. But im kinda being picky and want something that can fit a hydro flask on the outside. Even a 20oz one is better than a plain ice mountain bottle. Any suggestions? Not picky on brand. Was looking at the borealis mini too but that also doesn’t have a larger water bottle holder. Would be open to small backpacks too that can fit a larger water bottle. Please help me out please!
I can fit my 40oz Nalgene bottle in the main compartment but it leaves NO room for really anything else so I’m probably going to clip it on the front when I ride my bike and then carry it everywhere else
Exactly. People coming to a sling review, just to complain its not a backpack. They probably go to compact car reviews and complain its not a mini van.
This pack is perfect if you carry a handgun… A full frame pistol with light and Glock fits perfect. Very low vis when it comes to not looking tactical…
I bought this bag and i couldn't even use it . The strap is actually very small , wish the strap was a bit larger , i ended up giving it to my 10 year old son...
It's a shame there isn't SOME padding at the bottom of the bag on the inside, if this had any kind of camera compartments/dividers, it'd be an INSTANT buy for a ton of photographers.
This really helped my decision for my first ever sling bag purchase. thank you!
I think the water bottle pocket is for a bottle of cola, water 500ml or a can of red bull 250ml or cola 330ml
This is an awesome sling. Has all the right features. I do like when slings can go over either shoulder personally but it wouldn’t be a deal breaker.
Thanks for sharing 😃

Do you know if it can fit a normal water or soda bottle from the store? Thanks!
@@KlePhys It fits a 0.5 Liter bottle without problems

That looks very useful. In a recent trip I found out how useful slings are.
Great video. Any chance you can offer a comparison between this sling and the Patagonia Atom Sling?
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll pass it along 😃

I just came here from watching an Atom Sling video and apparently it's uncomfortable because of how much it slides.

How are you liking it? Specifically, does the strap cut into or rub your neck when wearing it?
Do you know if it can fit a normal water or soda bottle from the store? Thanks!
Thank you. Looking at picking one of these up.

You killed it with this review. Thanks (in a good way BTW) 🙌
very informative video, loved it
jajajjaja, loved the 3d printed switch!!! thanks for this review! will consider buying one of these since the nike sling bag i was eyeing sold out ):

Thanks, great in detail review. A question here, is this sling waterproof?
It'd be dumb but i kind of wished there were hideable backpack straps to really make an adorable little borealis 😆
They sell a mini borealis

WOuld be great product if it has the system like Osprey Daylite - when you can change the strap from one side to another.
Based on the measurements, it's perfect for a steam deck with a killswitch case.
I’ve been torn between this one and the Patagonia atom!!! This was helpful but I’m still torn.
Do you think I can put a camera inside with another lens inside main compartment?
Good review!! Very detail but in good summary for user. Really help me for decision.

Nice detailed review grabbed one from lacordeen on sale
I wonder if i can fit my labcoat can fold and fit tired of walking with large bag
does that water bottle holster hold a disposable water bottle (like aquafina or something like that - or a soda or gatorade bottle)?
It holds one just fine. I usually use my nalgene, which I have to stick in the main compartment. But it will hold a bottle just fine. I also find that if you roll up your rain jacket or keep an umbrella with you if it's in that pocket just fine.
Is this quite similar with the Isabella sling bag?
love you guys video all you will need to know!

Do you think I could fit a pair of cycle shoes in this bag?
Do you think it will fit an iPad Air 11”?
does it move around the shoulder at all? i want to use it to bike and that's my main concern
Sweet, just bought one

Would this bag be bad for your back if you wear it for a 10 mile day at Disney?
Can the bungee net be removed?

Great review, do you know if a small bottle of water would fit in that front pocket, or under the bungee cords?
I'm looking for the same info. Doesn't seem like any bottles fit in the designated area. LMK if you ever find something that fits! Thanks.

Can a steamdeck fit in it?
Yes it can
People actually want a water bottle holder and want to put their laptop in a sling. 😅
I am not sure that would be comfortable.
Exactly. People coming to a sling review, just to complain its not a backpack. They probably go to compact car reviews and complain its not a mini van.
The largest device I would want or need to carry in a sling is my kindle
I know right. Small slings are not made for laptops, only for tablets. Next thing you'll know, they'd be complaining it doesn't fit a refrigerator.😂
Which Patagonia jacket is that?
Can you share a timestamp? 😃

This pack is perfect if you carry a handgun… A full frame pistol with light and Glock fits perfect.

It looks like it would be an ideal pack if only it had a better water bottle holder and if it could fit a full size tablet or macbook air in it.

How does it work as a crossbody bag?
Will this pack fit a 15-inch IBM Thinkpad?

Steam deck?
Meh, don't put your phone on the side if you don't want it stolen. Keep it on the front sling next to your chest.
Very short sling no good dont buy this . Waste of money good for kids maybe
