    There used to be a lot of moonshiners in those mountains. They could make anyone disappear as it was a serious business being operated by serious people.

    I use to mine coal not far from Black Mountain and it's definitely got it's creepy vibes still today, then again it's definitely not a place for outsiders either.

    Interesting story. When I was a young man I worked at the Wentz mine so I’m assuming it was named after Edward Wentz. I’m very familiar with Black Mountain from hunting there years ago. Thanks for the history!

      Thanks. I’m not sure but I think the mine might have been named for his father, who was the owner of the company or for his brother, who handled most of the local management duties and not Edward.

    If the mysterious disappearances haven't continued over time I would think the mystery has been solved.
