I love the designs of the OG transformers. I love the look of the masterpiece collection toys. It’s a bit of a passion. Walking around looking at the designs and angles. It’s one of my favorite things in life. I wish I could reskin this movie with Gen 1 designs but streamlined and ILM make it realistic. The look of these designs are such a turn off but I hear it’s good so I’m going to give it a shot. I’ve dreamed of making a transformers movie since I was a kid. I wrote a story, storyboarded it, picked and wrote music and have been dreaming of one day seeing TF come alive as I see it. The dream wave comics are the closest thing I’ve seen to my vision. It’s a very dark and primal vision but I’m looking forward to seeing this thanks to Kristian.
I took my son who is almost 5. He was glued to the movie. At one point I was watching him watching the movie. Pure joy. It is the '86 movie for his generation. I was just so glad to be there with him enjoying every laugh he go and a few on my own that I had to later explain. Great movie.
Holy shit, Darth Harloff giving a 4.8 out of 5!? I have to go see this now. I too was so pissed after the first trailer but if this catches the essence of Transformers The Movie (1986) somewhat, then I will be there. "Megatron must be stopped....no matter the cost...." YOU GOT THE TOUCH!
I'm UK (Bri'sh) - very similar age, my youngest son, started with " RescueBots " and not Paw Patrol - this was his choice - then, decided to watch the G1 series. Yes, my son loves Stan Bush also (yes, we also watched Bloodsport, as he too trains in striking systems). He has a serious collection of available toys (volcanicus, was no mean feat to collect and pay for!), i only had Slag (slug? British slang eh?) left, with one horn missing. - fun fact. when we were 7yrs old, the toys were on average 30-38 steps to transform - no real instructions. Look at the toys, for same age group now.. WTF! 2 step / 7 step? ( dumbing down of kids?) - he wants to be an inventor, and is keen on robotics now. Bless up USA. Hold tight.. Mirage is real ( with French Gitanes smoking logo;) )

Saw it this evening at the advanced screening with my 7 year old son. We both loved it. He knows nothing of transformers before this and he was into it the entire time. Great movie. Easily best transformers movie.

i felt the exact same way. i despised that first trailer, transformers was always more marvel comics than Pixar and that looked like how it was going. that trailer could NOT be anymore deceptive if it tried. the film has issues but its up there with bumblebee and the 86 film in my book. its doing its own thing amalgamating different versions down the years but it works and its got great heart to it. the final act is superb and the filmy FLIES by. im so so glad i was wrong on this one. its not "my" transformers but its a damn good entry. honestly came outte the film feeling great.

I was a little late to the party but I finally got a chance to see it on my prime video and I couldn't agree more this movie was awesome. Great story, action, voice acting, and animation. Brian Tyree Henry was the show stealer for me, the way he starts turning into Megatron gave me chills, I also love the friendship between Orion Pax and D-16.
Saw it today. I Was sooooo sceptical but DAMN!!, they nailed it! There is stuff in this you have not seen before and some really cool twists. Really well done. Whoever made this, needs to also do an animated he man, she ra, voltron and pretty much any 80s cartoon show. It was super well done.

You combine two things I love so much... Optimus, one of the best characters around... and some delicious, delicious prime rib... just need me some sautéed mushrooms and horseradish... 🤤
It was great! We saw an early screening and this is a rare case where the movie is better than the trailer which is great because I think the audience will be super surprised with the difference and unexpected surprises this movie offers! Highly recommend...

Like that Optimus and Elita romance was just hinted at the mine even if is one sided. If this gets a sequel would be cool nod to the OG cartoon having the two havean special bond. Well, special as you can get with alien transforming robots.
I give it a 9. Half way through the film I was taken out by how good it was. Start was a bit clunky with the pacing and plot contrivance, but it quickly picked up after they went to the surface. One of the best films I've seen this year, up there with Dune for me.

4/5 (very good). It does for the franchise the same thing Sonic 1&2 did. While not a cinematic masterpiece, it has a good story and visuals with some awesome moments. Alpha Trion's transformation and fight scene was very cool and they also incorporated in-battle transformations so well (nicely borrowed from Devastation video game). The scene with Quintessons left room for sequels. Music was very good. Definitely will re-watch and I hope it kills it at the box office.
Completely agreed. This movie is easily the best Transformers movie of the past 40 years. With the sole exception of BumbleBee, which was the only great live action movie of the franchise, Transformers One blows them all out of the water, and sets up a brand new high bar for any future movies of the franchise. I work in animation, and to me, THIS is the medium where this saga can thrive. Forget the live actions, just do all the future movies in animation, in this specific timeline. They can now stop throwing spagetthis on the wall and see what stick, THIS whole pot sticks, and the sauce made modern art on the wall ! That was a fantastic reboot that should be the definitive one of the 2020's.
i have never understood why hasbro dont do what DC do and animate the comic book stories they own . theyre just SITTING there. dont tell me no one wants to see "target 2006" or "dinobot hunt" on the small screen. the fandom would eat it up.

I'm a G1 fan so I'm assuming the movie is based off of that one episode from the series. I really hope this movie is the fun watch you experienced, having been burned by the Bayfomers movies before.
It's not based off that one episode of G1. It's a new story taking inspiration from several Transformers continuities for the Origins of Optimus and Megatron.

I think they are misleading people with Prequel. Its another reboot. I don't know what its a Prequel for and why they can't just tell us.

Agreed the first movie sucked! Way too much of a focus on the Human Characters. So far the only live action movies I like are Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts. Fairly Certain I still know almost every line in the 86 movie I used to have it memorized because of how many times I have seen it!
That one had great visuals and CGI but it still lacked heart and soul and still had unescecary bullshit like that scene with the Korean guy raping Sam in the bathroom.

Transformers animated movie is still the best, followed by Bumblebee. Michael Bey turned Optimus Prime into a psycho who takes orders from the US military instead of a hero. Trash. Good action scenes but he didn't have the essence of the characters. Trash.
I don’t think it’s hyperbole at all to say, this is the Best Transformers movie ever made, and it’s not even close. This is everything the 1986 movie & the Bayformer movies wished they could be, fantastic animation, amazing score, thrilling action, engaging & emotional story, compelling characters, it’s peak Transformers. One complaint I still have is, while Chris Hemsworth & Brian Tyree Henry are great, I still wish we got Peter Cullen & Frank Welker voicing Optimus & Megatron in this, there’s many scenes that I can see in my head being even better if it was Cullen & Welker delivering the lines.
I actually did not mind their voices. Chris did have some elements of Peter Cullen in his performance, and there were some Frank Welker undertones in D-16/Megatron. The only voice that irritated me was Starscreams. Steve Buscemi just did not suit the part.
Transformers '86 is to me the greatest Transformers movie that has been made and stands well above any of the live action films which have ranged from disappointing to just god awful. That being said I have been skeptical about Transformers One due to the change in the origin story especially with the whole Optimus Prime and Megatron being "best buddies" which just kills their dynamic in my opinion. But I will say with everything I am hearing about the movie that my interest is peeked and I am going to go see it with my son and I am going to keep an open mind to the story they are telling.
I was sceptical too. That trailer killed any interest I had in watching it but had an extra day of and watched it. It’s great. Prob my fav movie this year so far.
I got so emotional when Megatron did the same thing again (literally) to Prime back in 1986....the same feeling when i was a kid back then - devastated like hell

I would have loved if ROTB had proven my low expectations wrong, but it was worse than I expected. I expected to like this movie, and ended loving it.

Yeah, those voice actors did a good job but they didn't really need them. Just tell the good story on the G one prequel that's all real fans care about.

why not take Peter Cullen into the studio, pay him a crap ton of cash, and digitize his voice in every way possible, then use uber Ai to make him immortal, seeing as he is the voice of Optimus Prime. ? Why Hemsworth ?
i think they wanted to differentiate optimus from orion pax and for the origins of the movie.

Agreed the first movie sucked! Way too much of a focus on the Human Characters. So far the only live action movies I like are Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts. Fairly Certain I still know almost every line in the 86 movie I used to have it memorized because of how many times I have seen it!
If Harloff likes it then I probably will.

It had plenty of transformers screen time and it was an ET approach to the source material.
I’d argue dark of the moon is also good.
That one had great visuals and CGI but it still lacked heart and soul and still had unescecary bullshit like that scene with the Korean guy raping Sam in the bathroom.

In April 2023, Lorenzo di Bonaventura stated that there is discussion for Transformers One to become a trilogy of films. By June, he confirmed that the story is mapped out to progress over three movies, detailing the progression of the characters into their depiction in the live-action film series.
I know this doesn’t apply to people like Kristian because it’s kind of his thing, but for the rest of you I’m begging-

This is not the best Transformers film.....nonono dude.......THIS IS THE BEST TRANSFORMERS PERIOD ANYTHING, I mean holly COW, I saw this yesterday, and I can't get this movie out of my head, this is indeed better than the 86 movie, all Michael Bay travesties, even better than Bumblebee, and Rise of the Beast, dude this is what the BUMBLEBEE MOVIE did in Cybertron, but....................for 1 hour and 44 minutes, THANK GOD. I need to watch this thing again, and again, please people we need this movie make money, I want a SEQUEL, forget the live action films, I want this to be the FRANCHISE.
Transformers animated movie is still the best, followed by Bumblebee. Michael Bey turned Optimus Prime into a psycho who takes orders from the US military instead of a hero. Trash. Good action scenes but he didn't have the essence of the characters. Trash.

I don’t think it’s hyperbole at all to say, this is the Best Transformers movie ever made, and it’s not even close.
This is everything the 1986 movie & the Bayformer movies wished they could be, fantastic animation, amazing score, thrilling action, engaging & emotional story, compelling characters, it’s peak Transformers.
One complaint I still have is, while Chris Hemsworth & Brian Tyree Henry are great, I still wish we got Peter Cullen & Frank Welker voicing Optimus & Megatron in this, there’s many scenes that I can see in my head being even better if it was Cullen & Welker delivering the lines.
I actually did not mind their voices. Chris did have some elements of Peter Cullen in his performance, and there were some Frank Welker undertones in D-16/Megatron. The only voice that irritated me was Starscreams. Steve Buscemi just did not suit the part.

I actually quite liked Buscemi’s Starscream, he’s no Steve Blum but he was a lot of fun & his voice fit the character.
yeah. I'm not digging this Voice Actor for Megatron. I'd rather Beast Wars Megatron voice if not Frank. But they had him play Bumblebee instead.
Transformers '86 is to me the greatest Transformers movie that has been made and stands well above any of the live action films which have ranged from disappointing to just god awful. That being said I have been skeptical about Transformers One due to the change in the origin story especially with the whole Optimus Prime and Megatron being "best buddies" which just kills their dynamic in my opinion. But I will say with everything I am hearing about the movie that my interest is peeked and I am going to go see it with my son and I am going to keep an open mind to the story they are telling.
I was sceptical too. That trailer killed any interest I had in watching it but had an extra day of and watched it. It’s great. Prob my fav movie this year so far.
I got so emotional when Megatron did the same thing again (literally) to Prime back in 1986....the same feeling when i was a kid back then - devastated like hell
