  • UVU's Office of the Provost, Center for the Study of Ethics, and the Center for Constitutional Studies are pleased to host the Civic Thought & Leadership Initiative's Conversation Series.
    Under the broader theme of Civics, Ethics, and the Good Life, this first in the series features Jennifer Ruth and Keith Whittington, who will discuss the topic of Universities in the Public Square: Institutional Neutrality and Free Speech.
    Professor Jennifer Ruth, Ph.D., is a professor in the School of Film at Portland State University. She is co-author of The Humanities, Higher Education and Academic Freedom: Three Necessary Arguments and It's Not Free Speech: Race, Democracy, and the Future of Academic Freedom.
    Professor Keith Whittington, Ph.D., is William Nelson Cromwell Professor of Politics in the Department of Politics at Princeton University. He is the author of Repugnant Laws: Judicial Review of Acts of Congress from the Founding to the Present and Speak Freely: Why Universities Must Defend Free Speech.
