the original version gave a sense of hope and lightheartedness about the future, this cover has turned everything upside down... this one gives a sense of mistrust and resignation... and yet it's the exact same song... EXTREMELY BRILLIANT

Exactly what I was thinking myself , made it really heavy hearted where Doris day made it sound light hearted , think it's the tempo that does along with a bass voice singing
@STHHCalebBrewster That to me that was the main message I took from it. Even though it's kind of dark in terms of the music, it gave me a peaceful sense of relief and to not stress about the "what-ifs" in life. I can see how someone could get a more sinister meaning out of it, though.

Yeah, I stupidly assumed it was recorded for the series, was pleasantly surprised to find out it was a cover by Pixies. Never listened to them much, but it's general culture to know about them. Awesome cover, definitely.

For those who don't know, this is a cover version of "Que Sera Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)" by Doris Day (recorded 1956).
And it's also not a new release, as it has been licensed to mgm and used as the theme for the horror show (From)since 2022.
My grandma Mary used to sing us this song when I was a boy. R.I P. Grandma, miss you

Yes, the original was written by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans and was first published in 1955. Then Doris Day introduced it in the Hitchcock film The Man Who Knew Too Much in 56. Day re-recorded it in 1964 for a children's album and the song has been covered by literally dozens of artists since.
This perfomance sounds totally different. If it covers, it covers something vailed.
I could not imagine any other song for the opening song of "From" this slow pace surreal melody is like a hushed lullaby to help keep everyone calm at night. As the storyline deepens the more I feel connected to Victor.

This is so cool,Pixies have put a dark edged spin on this song and it totally changes it,that maybe it's not the happy upbeat song it's long been seen as.Francis Blacks vocals are so good and add to the more twisted vibe this version of this song has, they've made it their own on a brilliantly different way (Matt)

I have been a fan of Pixies for a while, and when I found out they covered this it made me so happy. Before my parents got divorced, when I was 4, my bio mom would sing to me every night before I went to sleep, and it was que sera sera. That song is very special to me because my bio mom means a lot to me. She lives over 2000 miles away from me since i moved away recently, and que sera sera is my comfort song, since i don't have friends or my mom here to comfort me. I play it every night on loop, specifically this one. It feels like she is next to me again, singing que sera sera while rubbing my head until i fall asleep, and like she is comforting me when she can't be there.

It's so dark and haunting, this version will really make feel you feel that you don't know what's gonna happen in the future and what lies ahead, compared to the original version which is more on the positive side, comforting and reassuring

Every time I hear this version it makes me feel like I am in the middle of a forest where nobody can hear me.
Just started watching the show, thought the intro song was pretty good. Then I find out that it was composed by the Pixies, my favorite alternative/indie band, this made the song 100x better.
My mom sang this to me as a baby. I’m now 68. She’s almost 90. This is so beautiful. I’m a huge Leonard Cohen fan as is my mom & love the LC type spin. I’m a big pixies fan. Most will disagree but I arguable prefer Frank Black solo. If you’re not so familiar or think he went soft, I highly recommend starting with Teenager Of The Year.
Had this also that I immediately recognised the clear Leonard Cohen vibe in this Pixies rendition of this Doris Day song... Like the feel this new version has...
