I ended up replacing the string and button with paracord. The eyelets are a different size from sys and sys es so I needed to use a tweezer to pull the string back through the eyelit. Poor quality on the stitching and eyelit attachment. Sorry pics aren't great.
Yeah, that string is a pain. The thing I dislike the most however, is how flimsy the top of the pouch is, makes it hard to get stuff in there without the top of the pouch ending up inside too. Fishing it out isn’t easy when the pouch is off to one side or the other.
Good review 👍. I didn't know they changed it. I have the original, but never had an issue since I don't wear thick gloves. Nice upgrades though.

What are the dimensions of the sys hauler ES?
I had to re-sew the top of my old one. It constantly frays as well so have to keep burning edges. Not a big fan of it...
Sorry to hear that.. I had a little frays but not much. Didn’t have to sew anything, which is good.
