@@sergiopereira I think almost everybody here is looking for a way to make their own foam cutter; it's easier if they can have the design and then just assemble it
I agree, though it is pretty entertaining. I was expecting to see a ceramic element somehow there, but here the cutting wire is connected directly to the power source.
All the “make a foam cutter” videos are the same... 45 minutes of over elaborate wood box building and then 2 seconds of “put the electronics in” Thanks that helps
The electric part is so simple. There's not much beyond what is shown. The parts are listed in the description and you should be able to connect it all.
Dude! everything about this was awesome. Cool DIY hot wire cutter but you also have a DIY track saw, DIY table saw, DIY band saw. I watched several DIY hot wire cutters today and this is the only one with a tilt to cut vertical angles, I actually need that for my project. THANKS!!
Hi Mistry, please construct a holder/guide for the saw machine for your use because 1) You've got good looking fingers.2) Your fingers are very important, and we will miss out on so many of the unique and talented works/projects that you produce. Great video as always.🙌.
So glad I saw this great video. I always seem to have tons of foam from things I buy that have been packed with it. I use it for things like cutting out the shape of tools for in a tool box so the tool doesn't shake around. I always end up cutting the foam with a break off exacto type knife. It works very poorly but the worst of it, is that I'm covered in little bits of foam and it seems to get everywhere. And you can't just brush it off, it's like electrified to your clothes. But this tool is amazing. I guess if you want to cut out a shape on the inside, you can take the cutting wire off, make a hole in the foam, thread the wire through, reattach and start cutting your shape out. I thank this talented craftsman for sharing the construction of this handy tool. Thanks very much for sharing this.
Probably because he didn't use push blocks, had the blade set way too high on the table saw and who knows what else. I only watched the first 2 minutes or so
That’s an awesome project.During the video I saw several other handmade tools. Love to watch those too. And you just keep sharing the good work. Thanks!

Perfect for my needs with all the essential information for construction. Just what I was looking for. A pleasure to watch, too. Will be my next project
I turned a hacksaw into a couch foam cutting knife, all to cut one very long 6 inch thick foam piece into 5 ( 2 foot x 2 foot 6 inch ) sections, to replace the foam within my 5 couch sections. Plus I cut the edges at a 45 degree angle 1 inch deep to give it a more of a rounded edge look. It all turned out quite well. The hot wire that replaced the hacksaw blade, was taken from an old dead hair dryer, and the power supply used was a very old power supply that I had that could pump out up to 2 Amps. It had Amp control potetiometers as well, so I just had to set the desired amperage, and leave it at that.
Good idea. Surface finish is very good. Basic explanation on type of wire, power supply across the wire should have been included which the interest of the viewers.
I can tell you are a very skilled and experienced craftsman. Hand made brackets holes and angles don't come out that clean by a rookie. Thank you for sharing this. It was quite satisfying to watch and learn. The CCM5D is very inexpensive too. Great controller for the project. Can you tell us what kind of wire you used for the cutting wire? Great video!
If you are trying to make this in the U.S., you will need a Pulse-Width Modulator (the motor controller) that runs off AC. He is controlling the voltage with the PWM therefore affecting it's temperature. Well done on the box!
Your skill is Amazing man. I love to watch your videos like I watch Jackie Chan or James Bond movies. What a beautiful skill god has given you which you are utilizing to the core. Keep itup.
Very nice build with angle and skipping the tensioning spring. Very clean. I could see using for stage props, false building molds with plaster over, etc. Id build one but don't see a great use for it other than perhaps proof of concept on a boat or model plane. I'm building a glass cutter for chopping test tubes or large jars and thought hot wire cutter. Any way good skills.

Very nice. It would have been nicer to incorporate another swivel system to allow the bar to move forward and backward to allow bevel cuts across the length of the foam while passing it by the fence.
hi. I made a plastic water bottle cutter like this. However I am not sure what kind of power adapter should I use. I used a smaller one but that was way too slow.
Wow, this looks so easy!! LOL I appreciate the skills that went into this, but maybe a simpler version would be equally as effective and easier to make?

I was hoping the video would be centered around the electronic circuit. Instead, it’s basically a video about building a wooden box.
