People forget that Aerosmith has 2 great lead guys, that it's not just Joe playing. Brad Whitford deserves every bit as much credit.
Arc Angels' Charlie Sexton and Doyle Bramhall III are both incredible guitar players on their own. It's too bad that they didn't make more than one album, but it still holds up and they do still do occasional shows
Rudolf Schenker and Matthias Jabs of The Scoprions. I've seen them melt the goddam stage.

Honorable mention. The Beatles. “And your Bird Can Sing” plus Abbey Road has quite a bit of guitar harmony. Listen to the chorus of “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” or “Sun King” and of course “The End”which all 3 play lead, Paul, George, John, in that order repeat 3 times. It’s brilliant. Usually it was George and Paul

@Bess Ross Clapton didn’t come into the picture, as far as recordings until the white album, and the bad was in the beginning of a break up by then. John was the rhythm player but he played solos regularly too. Not sure what Beatles you’re listening to; maybe through the lenses of someone accustomed to 70s and 80s rock?
Try listening to 50s rock and country music and then go back to the Beatles. They were phenomenal performers and writers. Not the best technical performers for sure but that isn’t what they were going for. I don’t think that was really a thing in rock music until 65 or 66, around the time of Hendrix and Cream

Also, Dave Gregory and Andy Partridge in XTC.

One of the things I love most about watching the Anderton's videos is watching them jam. I haven't seen that level of tradeoff between lead and non-lead parts since I was doing Irish music, where parts would trade off, and the current lead player could pick what song to transition into next, and *sudden key change* that everyone instantly knew. The canon was so well established that someone random could join you busking, and you'd all just jam. Fun times. Also, *loved* the Free Bird Parrot.

Definite u'betcha.. Allman's rhythm section was just off-tap the tubthumper employed by the famous backhome brethren of the dark deep dastardly deadly good old South is the classed in the ducks nuts troposphere, imho?..
I mean for instance the drumming on ' Whipping Post ' goes from the
simply sublime to the really quite ridiculous then on to the - NOW!... how the f*%# does anyone play THAT kinda polyrhythmic paradiddled beat? WTF? Did the Allman's hire a f-ing octopus to play drums on ' Whipping Post ', or what..?
It is a masterpiece of Southern Rock 1,000,000%.
Bandleader Greg Allman is underrated whilst Duane Allman cannot
ever possibly be overrated in any way shape or form.
His slide mastery & majesty turned what Pickett imagined was a really really plain old bad idea at the time - was one cunning stunt Evel Knievel couldn't perform in his hey-day. W.P. said; put politely go get f$*#ed all of you are fools, deez cats is nutz puttin' my vocals with Duane Allman playing his Les with '59 buckers full-bore playin' on a personalized rendition of the ubiquitous #1 in all ubiquity I mean common as muck stuff is ' Hey Jude ' but W.P. & Duane ripping up a Beatles cover? Nutz. Fair cop. I'd have guessed the same doom & gloom outcome of failure embarrassment & disaster though some strictly stupider paranormally stranger shit has happened & happens here daily - believe me it's phenomenally regulation surrealistic strange here.
W.P. rightly assumed like almost everyone this side of Uranus, that this cover attempt with the most incongruent pair of muso's around the joint one could muster together in a gargantuan grand-mal pink-tongue-swallowing fit so dastardly was this demand of some mad bastard... Cover ' Hey Jude ' I think I'd prefer to self-immolate myself in AvGas, actually, thanks for asking though but I'd rather burn to death than cover that!
W.P. & Allman both regarded Beatles covers can't be turned into hits, this
reeking to high heaven dumpster inferno of an out of control hot-mess of a train-wreck will tank, it's a certain flop, it can't fly & like George Young said 'you can't polish a turd'... really? ...OR CAN YOU?
Maybe 'Professional Turd-Polisher' good old mate Glenn Fricker could weigh in on this salient symptom of serendipity. If you read this f*%& you totally, Glenn!.
Seriously, this type of negative forethinking was likely Pickett's headspace upon this suggestion Southern Comfort by the gallon couldn't countenance for a scintilla of space-time. Short-story, lengthened, strengthened, butchered, bakered, candlestickmakered, in the long-running saga the outcome eventual result in the aftermath equals this = GO just listen to & hear what those 2 maestro's finally turned out doing the un-do-able covering a #1 hit (social suicide at best, generally is one's reward for abominable whimsical wastes of time & money like this almost always usually are - a ' Hey Jude ' cover made history in fact.
Wipes public-urinal floors with Ringo George John & Pauls pathetic version which sucks p#*%s like a nickel-a-ride mattress-back!. It made the Fab Four's effort sound pedestrian by comparison, it seemed alas, as if the Beatles had copied aped & poorly 'covered' Pickett & Allman's authorised hit #1, instead of the other way 'round!
via : Didyabringyabongalong Station (455,000 acres), Central Queensland.

Since you mentioned Phish, the Grateful Dead. Live band, always had what appears to be a primary soloist (Jerry) but watch and listen to what Bob Weir plays. He’s never strictly rhythm. His playing weaves through Jerry’s and they are always listening. It’s subtle, never flashy. Yeah, jam band, but that’s kind of the point. Derek and the Dominoes could do it once in the studio with overdubs. The Dead did it every single night. Fair warning, I’m a converted Deadhead, so I’ve recently come to see them as something more. Dead & Co. are great as well, but the relationship between John Mayer and Bob is different so the result can be different.

One twin lead guitar band that was big(ish) in the UK in the early 70s was Wishbone Ash, with Andy Powell and Ted Turner. They straddled the lines between soft rock, hard rock and Prog, and the guitar work was better than the vocals. Possibly their best album was 1972’s Argus.

Tico and the man! That channel is great if you need to smile or laugh. (Guy plays guitar in the back of the room while Tico the green parrot sings and struts his stuff for the camera!)
Griffi the dancing cockatoo is great too!

When I was very young Layla was my favorite song. I mean like when it came out. It wasn't until a few years ago I realized Duane Allman was on that recording. I'm from the south and I think now, "that's why I liked that so much". Bands you mentioned that I have seen. I saw Thin Lizzy (the classic line-up) open for Robin Trower (3rd row center). Best concert to date. I saw Scorpions open for KISS. I saw AC/DC open for Rainbow. To tell you the truth I didn't know who AC/DC was at the time. I was there to see Blackmore. We left that concert talking about Angus.

I had the same experience- went to see Rainbow in NYC in the late 70s. AC/DC opened. We knew nothing about them, but they killed! When Rainbow went on, Blackmore walked off after 3 songs because of a feedback problem- Dio came out and apologized- end of the show! But we got to see Angus close up and was introduced to AC/DC

The Outlaws ''Green Grass and High Tides" I thought for sure Johnathan would go there when Baxter asked him to name one, since he was just talking about how good they were. I'm dating myself, but I'm throwing Humble Pie with Peter Frampton and Steve Marriott on to the list. MC5 with Wayne Kramer and Fred Smith. Social Distortion with Mike Ness and Johnny Wickersham.

Pat Travers Band hasn't been mentioned. Pat Travers and Pat Thrall were both unbelievable. Also Sammy Hagar and Gary Pihl in the early 80's with Sammy's Band. Some of the best playing I saw live, and I saw everyone but Led Zep and the Beatles. Judas Priest and Maiden were mentioned , equally impressive.

I think this stood out remarkably with the Eagles. I can’t seem to understand why they would let one of their great guitarist go…. I’d love to see both of you come together on a Slow Whiskey blues song. Each, Alternating between lead and rhythm.

I'm not into metal anymore, but the first 4 Judas Priest albums have the most tasteful, melodic double solos of any band I've ever heard. Especially the album's "Sad Wings of Destiny", and "Stained Class". Take a listen to Victim of changes, and Beyond the realms of Death. I can promise you'll love the solos!
