I think he's taken Amazon as the standard FAANG... Where the difference between SDE2 and SDE3 is huge and getting promoted isn't easy... So the SDE2 salaries there are pretty high.... Otherwise 55 is definitely not the lower band of SDE2 salaries for FAANG level.... It's not top level either... It's somewhere in the middle.... But 200k Canada is definitely top level... Not middle level

So the amount that we are actually saving in canada along with the other benefits such as health factors or the work environment or even the quality of our surrounding as compared to what we get in India is a lot better. Reports have estimated how Canada, even though a costlier country than India, offers a higher standard of living for residents.

And do mind, i have taken a mid range number for the salary for Canada, but the lowest number for India at the same level. Tbh, the free health is a scam. And you will anyways invest in a private health insurance. Which you will do in India. The cost of which is far lesser in India in comparison to Vancouver and you can get all the facilities here.

Let's also consider cities like waterloo, Ontario, Edmonton, Halifax etc. which are not so expensive but again the quality of life and space is not compromised. Honestly, moving into a new city/country is a big decision and a lot of factors are to be considered. It should be stated again that the average salary in Canada vs. India is way higher and more tailored to meet living costs. Indian salaries are nowhere as proportionate to rising inflation and costs of living as average earnings in Canada. Canada does have a higher cost of living. However, considerably higher salaries and purchasing power ensure that living standards are also on the higher side here. However, I agree with few of your points and your take on this as well. Not true in Mumbai you won't get. But in hyd and blr you will get very good apartments in gated societies with amazing amenities. You can look up societies like My home Vihanga, Golf edge etc. To be honest for software engineering Canada does not have a high salary with respect to taxes and cost of living taken into consideration. If you simply take a look , as pointed 200K is the average sde 2 salary there in a good faang level company, how ever, in India i had considered the entry level sde 2 salary as 55 Lakh. It can go as high as 80 lakh. So tbh, from a savings POV, you will be at an equal pegging. Rest this video is not and should not be the only source to make the decision to move. But should be considered as one factor. Rest factors are very subjective in nature and can not be quantified and hence no point in making the video on them.. they should be evaluated by every individual
