After 40 only pressure increases and responsibilities increase both at job and home. Health also becomes an issue. Deliverables become more difficult. But people dont become jobless in IT. I seriously don't understand why an organization fire employee who becomes little slow because of age because honestly a 40 year old has many responsibility and duties outside work. If you expected employee to work whole day that's just bad morality
in my little experience, i actually saw girls not preferred and especially 50+ (not sure of 40+) in Indian context not preferred though am sure it's changing at times by enforced policies .. i could also see problem used to be from both sides ... US and other advanced nations maintain relatively far better work life balance and relatively far less bias's through the same challenges of changing technologies, competition etc. ... because what they don't have is abundance of freshers and youth ready in queues to be exploited for money and their time ... that's luxury of free lunch, extra margins and no voice for the company management ... So, beyond their a**, i don't think younger boys bring anything better when compared to willing to skill up experienced people. Technology is not physical sport where youngster have natural advantages. In my vicinity, 50 is roughly the time when these people really get squeezed between kids grown up to about std 10th to 12th looking for more help and parents genuinely needing help

Hence IT sector is now vitim of all development they only did over a period of time -- The linear model which all IT services propagated which means more people means more revenue is going off -- and clients are now asking for fixed bid contractacts which is beneficiar to employers .. Too many places high level managers are becoming liability and can be done away with -- This can be done easily by layoffs which is not restricted by Law.. Hence whatever IT sector is facing other sectors have faced in the past although degree and nature of problem was different -- Hence this is not new-- I personally expericned this when my Salary was rs 12 lakhs per Annum -- I was interviewing one girl who is hardly having 5 years experince asking for rs 18 lakhs salary -- I had put in 20 years then -- It is common in IT -- This will disturb the ecosystem which is now happening .. I sensed this in 2015 itself .. Anyway some sense will prevail when new employees become reasonable and start taking theri job and contribution seriously than the facilities and compensation. @@sureshpolali8685 Anyone upskilling and staying current won't get outdated is what i believe, be it linear model or not. Also, i appreciate that girl showing confidence to ask for what she thought was her worth or even if she tried a random hit ... the way HR takes employees for a ride, she was well in her rights to do so ... she could do it because this is the age of information where it's becoming harder and harder for organizations to make fool of employees and make them slaves like happened, especially before liberalization ... in India, though, they still easily find ways out because of immense shortage of jobs. If CEOs and higher ups can earn multiple times each year and Organizations grow 10 20 30% then why can an average employee who's making it happen not do the same ... it happens because of the power imbalance which girls like that are attempting to shift...i wish more people do the same.

Driving is skill -- Production of a Bus is knowledge -- Hence as you go up in the leader one need to ask fundamental question of what I am doing for what ?.. Transition from skill to knowledge is a must - if one wants to really make maximum out of life -- One can remain as skillful for long like driver of VOLVO Bus at the age of 50 -- It becomes that much difficult in IT industry to manage a team of say 50 people when attrition of at 27 % -- Manager is always looking out for people and doing nothing else -- At 45 years one becomes Program manager or Account manager then hiring is biggest job -- delivering what customer wants happens automatically through good engineers -- That is the problem and those engineers are being exploited by management which now engineers are coming to know off -- this is same thing as demand and supply and major single most important attraction is money and that remains same always

But the point is most of the software engineers are avg and getting at terminal level at sde2 Or similar designation so what happens to them once they cross 8 years of experience? Nice video tho
it happens in India, though not directly some times, they Smoke him or her or create an environment such that he can't bare and will leave with a shame. Because at that age it is difficult to hear from people who are less experience than him; he will be ashamed in front of juniors so that he will leave automatically. Out side India, some one at the age of 55 can also work as developer, the will give and respect to the role. Thus, only way to survive is migrate, migrate....
My manager is nearly 50 and still having a good time. One of the seniors retired after 18 yr service.(by his choice). So this aegism is a myth. You just dont code arpund much, but manage things. Design and architect software. etc. Hell most sde's have enough money invested by 40's that they actually don't need to work.
Very subjective!! I had started off my career in late '90's.Overall 23+ years of experiences, had spent in a company in for 10.5 years, wherein had rather a stagnated tenure in legacy ERP, all the more due to my personal commitment neither could not have grown nor unskilled. During COVID and in my forties I was asked to resign and post that I was literally in roads. Current status do have a job, to 90's born kids take for granted, so called attitude - unlike when I was a fresher had respected even a year old senior salary lesser than 16 PA and grand finale self consolation at least I have job, can legally work for another 13 years next. So be it these '90 kids slavery. They will also grow old!!

you are wrong that you will save more as you earn more. Its not true for every talented engineer. As a successful and talented techie starts doubling salary, they will also spend more as most techies have great hobbies and increase their expense as their salary grow. if one wants to retire early, have to do remote job in small town and earn same salary as bangalore based techie remotely. Otherwise forget savings or early retirement.

Continuing added new skills help me to grow rapidly now after 4+ years of my career now I got good hike after changed my last company. Thanks Soumyajit for your videos.I am following your videos and it's help me.one thing I undestand in this field as a developer that always keep learning and try and face new challenges.

Thanks for the video

You made my day sir. Thank you for such an informative video.
Glad it helped
I seriously don't understand why an organization fire employee who becomes little slow because of age because honestly a 40 year old has many responsibility and duties outside work. If you expected employee to work whole day that's just bad morality
you will understand when you start your own company.

Conclusion - no! But u needa upgrade every day
in my little experience, i actually saw girls not preferred and especially 50+ (not sure of 40+) in Indian context not preferred though am sure it's changing at times by enforced policies .. i could also see problem used to be from both sides ...
Money is the only attraction -- when 25 years old guy got ito IT and paid Rs 75K per month -- and sent on H 1 B everything was great -- The moment H1 B is dried up and pay also got reduced now everything is hunky dorry -- Its life -- in 1970s Banking bacame rage and many youngsters joined banks -- BUT that being public sector there is nothing called hire and fire and most of those joinedin 1970s retired as two to three steps higher than what they joined may be Manger of small branch maximum - BUT IT came in late 1990s with big bang with huge salary spanky office space -- beutiful girls around -- free coffee -- free lunch in some places -- Flying to USA like next door -- All came as a heaven on earth -- Now things are settling -- Good sense is prevailing -- I have seen a BCOM just pass guys and girsl were getting salary higher than MBBS Ms surgeons of govt hospitals --
@@sureshpolali8685 I don't see how your comment connects to the topic of the video i.e. 40/50+ facing any biases in recruitment of today ... nevertheless, today is a far far better time in, i believe, every possible aspects one can think of including i think 1990s, whether it's salaries here or outside, opportunities here or outside, life here or outside, skills taught
@@jaspreetmodi There is a connection -- I will explain -- 1960s to 1975 -- Industrial era where blue colored jobs florushied BUT it was unionized and hence hire and fire was not possible .. then came Banking sector -- huge work force joined - there also unionized hence OK as there was job at least forget about promotion compension etc.. There are 6 acts govern Factory and Banking -- which ensured some what gurantee for your job although the job satisfaction wsa not there even in those companies -- COME 1995+ -- We suddenly got deluge of IT software jobs which DID NOT COME UNDER FACTORIES ACT and hence does not get protection under law -- initially it was beutiful -- High pay -- At the age of 25 Son or daughter got Rs 45K salary where as FAther was at his 55+ getting 30 + -- Beutful offices -- Nice cafeteria -- OPportunities go to USA and other countries everything was great -- This was golden period till 2015 or so -- So many undeserving peropla got H 1 B visa -- One guy was having a Book on JAVA for Dummy's series who had gone to USA as JAVA expert under H 1 B Visa -- These were early 2000 -- Then 2009 economic slowdown many soft ware companeis closed down like YAHOO SATYAM - Infact in 2008 or so YAHOO use to pay rs 30 lakhs per year even in Bangalore -- Sansken gone SONATA software ( I do not know whether it is there or not ) .. from 2015 onwards consolidation taking place and major transformation taking place as far as low end jobs are concerned such as Testing which now tranfomed into AUTO Testing ITES jobs are gone after OTP came etc.. That is what I was trying to say -- Sorry for the long post as ot was required to explain what I was trying to say
Dear Soumyajit we are not seeing your videos nowadays. Its been quite a while now. Hope everything is all right. Hoping to see you back on your channel

Also by any chance if you read my comment,I had an interview coming up this week with Amazon London so I want to ask you is there any chance of if I get the offer, later offer gets rescinded because of current uncertainty in environment in UK.
It should not.
Same happened with me and waited for 1 month post accepting revised doj of 1 month delay now saying no joining ..lost 2 months and pay loss
@@roshnray6566 which company and place?
Thanks a lot again 🙏
Some packages were outrageous. Very limited engineers get that kind of money
Every sde 3 at Amazon earns more than 1.15cr per year
But the point is most of the software engineers are avg and getting at terminal level at sde2 Or similar designation so what happens to them once they cross 8 years of experience?
Great video. Very inspiring.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Soumyajit, Is not having a masters degree can act as a hinderance in growth while climbing up the ladder in an organisation ?

Don't misguide people by mentioning exorbitant compensation. There are companies which provide such salaries but it's not a industry norm or not most companies afford it. What you talk about is possibly in some extent applicable to FAANG equivalent but there is no absolute truth beyond it. Sorry. But I agree on your continuous learning suggestions which is the most important thing to do 🙂. Learn to enjoy the learning.

Hi, i am a 12 year experienced professional working on Microsoft technologies in a service based company. Is it possible to switch to DSA and get jobs in a product based company and do recruiting companies prefer such transitions?
thnku ❣️😍
This video is not relevant to all. 90% people in IT industry doesn't get a crore package. Most of Indian company like tcs, infosys, wipro etc never pay that much. Everyone can not go to FAANG. video should be generic and should full fill need of these 90% low paid people. I know it's a leading industry, we should switch company as well. But after 10 year of experience switching also difficult. Then what to do??? I have few plan to tackle those issues.
True, crore package at SDE 3 is rare. Amazon is one of them who offers but that comes with expectations as well. Amazon employees has complained of getting anxiety attack due to stress.

Govt salary 45k as 10+2 teacher in village vs 1.32lakh in metro city as software developer per months what should choose and best job ?
Software job gives better savings stay in PG save 1.2 lakh and do that for 6 years with interest it becomes around 1 crore and then go back to Village with interest income of 65k and do farming or some small shop thre because 65k is passive and rest is active income with no rent and clean air make you live longer and healthier with no financial constraints.
45k as a teacher, staying in hometown with your own home..

you are wrong that you will save more as you earn more.
