I tried the rubberband crochet method...I ended up picking up braids off the floor all night . I tried to do my own faux bun and it fell off the next day. Unless it's a wig or drawstring ponytail, hair isn't my strong suit.

Love how you keep trying and don't let the naysayers stop you. Your hair turned out beautiful. I braided my own hair recently and no it ain't perfect, but it's done and it's neat. I'm going to keep trying until I get it right.

I always pre-part my hair, like you said the parting is what takes time once the hair is parted it’s a breeze! I’ve been braiding my own hair since 2013 my jr year of college when I couldn’t get someone to do it for me

Destiny i know that this might not be my place but here is a tip: so when you are feeding in your knot-less braids at the roots you should start by adding little pieces and then those pieces will get bigger. But if you don't want to to my advice that is OK.

Let me say this back in 2017 I was battling depression sooo bad and it was WINNING!!! And it was taking a toll on my hair because I didn’t have any energy to do my hair. I wanted my hair braided into Box Braids I didn’t have that $180/$220 either sooo I taught myself how to braid my OWN hair. Babbiii when I tell you after the 3rd time I got them looking like I paid that money!!! The African Shop I was going too the owner who I love dearly... Told me she’d give me tips on braiding so it wouldn’t hurt my hand because she wanted and needed for me to come work for her!!! She was that impressed ✨✨❤️❤️❤️✨✨ i Shoot I was too... but depression was still winning so for 3 in a half years I kept my hair in braids with 2wks to a month in a half break in between each new set of braids!!! Thee amount of growth and strength my hair did during that time and KICKING DEPRESSIONS BUTT 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Praise God that was thee end of my hair testimony lol Your hair turned out beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
