Hi Arne and Carlos, The ribbon curling reminded me of one of my favorite aunts. When I was a child, I watched her wrap Christmas presents and she curled the ribbons on the gifts just as you did. RIP aunt Ruth!!!! Elizabeth in Texas
You two are amazing crafters. I enjoy your videos. Thank you for walking us through the Christmas Stocking. It made me feel comfortable learning to knit with numerous colors once. As though you were right there beside me. I always wanted to learn to knit patterns like that. Thanks again.. Congratulations to the Winner 🎉🎉🎉
I just finished my Julehoso stocking in honor of my half-Norwegian dad who died this year. I miss him terribly but knitting this stocking in his honor made me feel better. Thanks for the pattern and the inspiration this Christmas!
You two are so funny and your Grandma sounded like a great lady. ❤ I love curly ribbons it’s traditional 🎉 It’s a cooling rack, the wire tray you’re thinking of.
Arne and Carlos, I love your humor and generosity. Sharmen should be thrilled with her prize. And, yes, she should pick the pattern with the most colors and the largest size 😅. Happy knitting.
Just wanted to say that I loved watching your videos and I am now a knitter and specifically now know how to knit the Norwegian way of knitting because of the two of you! :).
Merry Christmas! And my great grandmother said the same thing that Arne's grandmother said...kinda a universal thing in the mid- 1900's and of course my Mom said it to me and my siblings. Enjoy Paris
the saying about "wishing in one hand", we say that in America too....both my grandmothers, my mom, my dad and my paternal grandfather told me that when i was a kid...also, i believe in the second "Grumpy Old Men" movies with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, the actor Burgess Meredith said that line....hearing a really old man say that was histerical, but very true
Oh my goodness! I thought this was just an American saying from 2 generations ago! I didn’t think Europeans would say such crass things! 😂 No, not really - but it was fun to hear you both labor over repeating it! 😂 Merry Christmas 🎄🎁!

So funny - I knew what your grandmother told the children as soon as I heard the story - we say that all the time here in US. So good to see you - hope you’re enjoying Paris!!
I live In Oregon near Portland. We get inversions because of the winds on the Columbia River Gorge. It creates ice storms and causes a lot of travel issues. I used to always use curling ribbon, my mother taught me. Many years ago I started using real ribbon and now I use ribbon with wire edges. My favorite is burlap ribbon with Christmas motifs like deer, holly. gnomes or poinsettias. This year the women in my family got together and made Lefse. Friday I made Krumkake for our family gathering. My sister and I are creating Scandinavian traditions for our younger family members so they might carry them on. For my holiday with my kids I'll be making split pea soup with Norwegian waffles. I hope I can find brown cheese. Congratulations to the lucky winner!
Enjoyed the discussions about sundry subjects. I love the dog sweaters; I did a colorwork sweater with poodles across the sweater. The word you were looking for Carlos, was cooling rack.
OMG Arne, love your polar bear sweater. Wear it wherever you want. It will be much admired. Wish I could be in Paris shopping the flea markets with you. The cookie/cakes sound delicious. Love learning about the Norwegian traditions. See you next week.
In Scotland the metal dishes are called pastry cases. Yes butter is best but margarine was always used in the past due to costs. When we need to cook a large amount in oven we refer to cooking in batches. Love your show, so entertaining, thank you.
That's funny we have that saying too. See which one fills up first. Haha My grandmother was a no nonsense lady, tough lady, but we knew we were loved. My best life lessons were learned with her. I miss her everyday! Thank you for sharing your memories and lives. The pokemon shenanigans were hilarious.
Congratulations to Sharmen🎉 happy knitting😊 I love that wishing saying by the way, hilarious🤣 hope you guys had a wonderful time in beautiful Paris..saw the short of you both at the flea market.
Oooh! I hope there is some penguin inspiration from the Antarctica trip in upcoming designs! Thank you again for your generous Christmas stocking KAL. It was such fun!🐧🦭🧡
Congratulations to the winner ! I love using curly ribbon, we use it a lot here, very festive looking. It's funny what your Grandma said Arne, we were always told to " suck it up, buttercup " ...lol Have a wonderful trip b!
Your grandmother’s expression sounds like this Scottish proverb, “If wishes were horses then beggars would ride.” A little cleaner though. 😉 Congratz to the contest winner! 🎉
