The Nobel organizers struck gold when they chose Angelina to do this tribute to the incredibly courageous Narges Mohammadi, who is now in prison in Iran simply because she was fighting for women's rights in Iran. NO ONE ELSE could have put that soul-melting amount of emotion, pathos and reverence into that song, and the very song choice is brilliantly appropriate for this particular situation. Could you imagine the impact it must have had on Narges' children sitting there in the audience, 17-year-old twins Kiana and Ali, who are now living in exile in France and who have not seen their mother in many years? Thank you for another heartfelt reaction, and thanks to James Thiel for a masterful piece of work. Oh, and btw, that IS Angelina speaking to us at the end of the video, telling us not to cry. Reminds me of the judge at Norway's Got Talent, commenting after her breathtaking performance of Summertime (which ends with the words "don't you cry") when he said that no matter how many times she says "Don't you cry", we're all going to end up bawlin' anyway!
Yes, that was Angelina speaking at the end, but it wasn't specifically about this song. It was a recording from her listening party on Aug 2 referring to her new music (EP)..... "Will all the original songs be on the album?" Yes, absolutely. They're all written by me. And [I've] really been lucky to work with some amazing producers and writers. The whole album will be filled with original music. [reads online comment:] "You make me cry when I listen to the EP." Oh my goodness! I don't want you guys to cry when you hear it. A couple facts
In 2014, a little Norwegian girl was named and codified, a national treasure by both the King of Norway and the prime Minister. That same year, she sang for the Nobel peace prize winners all at the age of 8.
In 2023, that same girl, now almost 18 once again graced the Nobel peace prize stage and sang for the recipient once again.
That young girl is none other than Angelina Jordan.
Angelina Jordan made history with this performance.
Angelina is the only solo singer under the age of 18 to have performed twice at the Nobel peace prize concert.
When I learned the story of Narges Mohammadi, this years recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize, and the history of the song "Unchained Melody", I fully understood why Angelina Jordan chose this song.
P.S.: Angelina arranged the music and vocals for this performance. She thanked the director of KORK publicly for allowing her to do this.

Cliff, when you started dusting off 'air' from your sweatshirt I knew you were starting to breakdown. James works tirelessly on Angelina projects and he'll be the first to tell you it's a labor of love. In fact, all of us around the world (including you) do what we can to introduce and present Angelina for those who haven't discovered her yet. Do we expect them to act any differently than we have? I would like to put emphasis on something which needs to be recognized by people wherever they are from. Congratulations for the Nobel Peace Prize Award officials for honoring Narges Mohammadi with the award so that her heroic stance will be something never forgotten. It is people like her who have the strength in spite of odds against them, to stand up for the rights of people, in this case women, and cry out for change. Angelina is about to begin her rise to the Top. No need to take my word or those of her many fans for it (she refers to her fans as ANGELs, often beginning a dialogue with "hello my Beautiful ANGELs). There are many people in positions that demand respect that believe as we do that Angelina is the Next Big Star.
I hope that you take so additional time to get to know her - you will not be disappointed on Any level. As remarkable her vocal talents may be, it is the Person that she is that results in so many who come across her being unable and unwilling to let her go. Her family is Amazing too - the whole story is.

Thanks Cliff for this beautiful reaction to this splendid James' mashup, created to present the Nobel Prize and Angelina's wonderful story. The ability this girl has to captivate and move the people who listen to her is absolutely incredible, as is her sensitivity in choosing and interpreting the song for this ceremony. This performance of hers is charming and wonderfully intimate, she made this legendary song perfectly suited for the occasion of the tribute to Narges Mohammadi's story! I was moved to see and hear Angelina singing in such an incredibly mature and charming way 7 years after the last time and in the same studio and certainly also with some of the musicians who accompanied her as a child, when she took her first steps towards his musical future. Here Angelina was simply fantastic and "unchained", probably the only singer who at only 17 years old has already sung on 2 different occasions at the celebrations of Nobel Prizes.💛🧡❤

James put together one heck of a video that was very detailed and full of information that covered just about everything you would need to know about Narges Mohammadi and the Nobel Peace Prize. I actually helped James with a very small portion of this when he asked for my help. I searched every video that I could find that had anything to do with Angelina and the Nobel Peace Prize and that small video clip at the 6:42 mark of your video is the only one that I could find where she actually spoke about it on a video! Also, Angelina is one of a very small group of people who has performed twice at the Nobel Peace Prize. It was misreported by one online article that she was the only one to appear twice. Artists such as Sinead O'Connor, Sting, Wyclef Jean, and Kylie Minogue appeared twice. The music group A-Ha has performed at 3 different Nobel Peace Prize Concerts. By the way, that was Angelina speaking at the end. It was taken from a Livestream Party she had when her new EP Old Enough came out....

Yes, that was Angelina speaking to her fans at the end. The quotes in the boxes were from her sister Julliette and others. Thanks for showing this long version, most reactors just show her singing the song ( some without even the instrumental intro) without any context as to why she chose to arrange it in this manner, it IS her arrangement after all.

@@kerrythomas6220 She didn't thank the orchestra leader; she thanked KORK's chief administrator (and the orchestra) for "trusting me in the process of making this incredible rendition". I can only assume she was referring to her vocal stylizations, because the music was arranged by Helge Sunde.
@@103mrg Do you actually think that Angelina is going to let someone else determine how she sings a song? There’s a difference between orchestration and arrangement so I guess it depends on your definition of each. She has been deconstructing and rearranging music for years. I’m not suggesting she arranged the instrumental parts of the performance, but she certainly arranged her vocal interaction with the orchestra, to say otherwise is total nonsense. Nobody is going to tell her how to arrange her vocals in relation to the instruments.

Whereas Bobby Hadfield's rendition, as part of The Righteous Brothers, has always been considered
'The Gold Standard' for Unchained Melody and deservedly so, it's impossible to deny the fact that
Angelina's Nobel Peace Prize performance brings far more emotion laden penetration than Bobby's
'Pop' rendition, for there is simply no way any 'Pop' singer can match the intensity the listener absorb's
from a true 'Jazz' specialist on a level with Angelina. You had better be on a level with her mentor,
the greatest improvisational singer in history, Ms. Billie Holiday, if you truly want to try.
I agree as someone who saw Bobby Hatfield sing it from about 15 feet away, his upper range was great but her ability to bring out your emotions is just incredible.

Whenever I recommend this video, I always say, be sure to read the captions. I'm glad you picked up on that after being initially confused. The whole point of this presentation is to understand the meaning of the performance. James must have thought that his introduction was explanation enough, forgetting how distracting Angelina's voice can be.

Fantastic performance from our Queen of jazz and soul, Angelina I imagine must honoured and so proud to be performing at the Nobel peace prize ceremony, especially as the performance is in her own country with the Norwegian Kork orchestra, this is the second time Angelina has performed at this event, the last time was in 2014 when Angelina was around 8 years old with her performance of ( It’s A Wonderful World, and Angelina has collaborated with the Norwegian Kork orchestra on several occasions, once when she was 10 years old with her own arrangement of ( Back To Black) and again with her arrangement of ( Summertime) Angelina is so special and talented , Angelina has a live concert in Las Vegas on the 29th February, I’m travelling from the United Kingdom to attend this special event, cannot wait to see Angelina live again, great reaction thanks!

Confusing to the uninitiated.
One problem is the relative small amount of material that includes her clear Spoken voice - we are all so used to her singing. A lot of the tiktok and IG videos have music-overs, so another potential source of hearing her spoken voice missed. To me it is a relatively rare treat.
When I was making the video - as I now realize - I guess I create it from the perspective on an ANGEL. I am Still new at this video stuff, but this was a Good Lesson to see what can happen in real-time and how confusion can creep in.

I know "James" Is a big supporter of Angelina, but I would have just way preferred you reacted to the original upload of the Nobel Peace Prize Video from Boris. I could give a flip if James paid you or not. "Hard Pass" on this one from me. (but you got a comment so I guess that's a good?)
I thought it was great. Loved the history and backstory especially since most reactors review the song without the context. When they do then many fans comment that they need to know the background to fully appreciate the performance.

The biggest sin as a reactor, closing your eyes during a reaction. You can do that when you play it again after you turned off the cam, but not during your initial reaction to something visually.
