Thank you for the impressions! In the recent months, I started despising LVMH so much. I'm a big fan of Demachy (and yes, the supreme master lol) - need him back. I love Oud Ispahan, but I highly doubt it'll surpass Rasasi Oudh Al Boruzz Rooh Al Assam (which is a niche version of OI with real Assam oud - I have the 2015 batch). Looking forward to trying all of them but with high skepticisms while guarding my wallet even more. Hope someone eventually sells decants online for testing. Keep up the amazing reviews - love them!
Thank you! Yeah, LVMH, Estée Lauder, L'Oréal... just destroying fragrances slowly. Haven't smelled that Rasasi. OI is still just mainstream designer Oud, can't compete with real Oud. I wouldn't pay for these rehash either.. Not sure if any new Dior is worth buying but we'll see. Cheers!
I’d love to see what François Demachy could do with Mitzah in this line-maybe in the future. At least this Ambre Nuit sounds much improved, but I'll have to sample it myself. However, the price is just as outrageous as Guerlain's extraits... Great first impression video! Cheers
Thank you very much! do you mean Francis Kurkdjian? It'll be interesting to see but I am not certain as they have definitively discontinued Mitzah. Yes, exactly... no way we are expected to pay that kind of price.

Just one thing, I asked Francis did he re-make Bois d’Argent when the trio was released, & he told me it’s the same formulation that Demachy last did & hasn’t been touched by him

Yes, it's possible.. but Demachy already changed it a couple of times. Plus, no perfumer or brand has openly accepted reformulation. So I would take it with a grain of salt.
@@ScentZatura Not sure about that, when they changed the formulations of the privee’s in 2018, Dior let us know, it’s even on fragrantica.
Also when they re released the original trio they informed us that Colonge Blanche & Eau Noire had been reformulated.Which is the reason why I asked him about Bois d’Argent in the first place, because it wasn’t mentioned.All that leads me to believe he’s telling the truth.
@ztiwar I understand what you mean and it was good they did that. But It also had to do with the change of the collection name that they tried with "Maison Christian Dior" and now back to "La Collection Privée". Plus I am sharing from the direct smelling experience of myself and a few people who have had it since 2004. It is also really unlikely that a fragrance has been reformulated only once or twice in 20 years with all the regulations put in place since then, gotta be atleast a few times from my understanding. Surely the Other Privée fragrances have also changed and Dior never announced them publicly (no brand does) In anycase, All that matters to me is whether I like the smell of my bottle without getting into the reformulation rabbithole and I am glad I do. Hopefully it is the same for you

These are not powdery.. dry and inky. I don't think there's much citruses at all in these. Ambre Nuit smells like a Luxe Cardamom/Cinnabomb

Thanks for your words! Yes, I think Oud Ispahan was changed within a couple of years of it's release because of the rose supply and lost it's steam over the years unfortunately. This might satisfy...

I'd like to know what happens when no one really buys this. Do they just languish until it goes to the grey market?
I think, they already know it's not going to move units. It's more of an exclusivity game to sell to a select few and they'll ensure these don't get to the grey market.
I just smelled all of them in Le Bon Marché. I found none of them appealing. Ambre Nuit was promising until I noticed the closeness in scent profile to Grand Soir. All the others are subpar compared to their original. Prices are insane.
Yeah, I see what you mean. I guess my expectations were so low that they just got pass marks. Ambre Nuit was nice. But like you say, can't even imagine dropping that kind of coin on these. Even if I can, would rather go Niche.
I think oud ispahan is superior more leathery and oudy the darkness gives it uniqueness
@@japanpathfinder92 To me Oud Ispahan Esprit de Parfum is the lowest point of the collection, with Gris Dior. It misses the balance of the original between the jammy rose and the raunchiness of the oud accord in favor of an in-your-face sweaty cumin note up top and a nuclear powder base. The rich woody accord of the eau de parfum has been simplified too
The original oud ispahan has a very unpleasant drydown in my opinion, and as for rose accord I always thought santal noir did that much better, so yeah for my personal taste they made oud ispahan appealing, the other releases I don't care about ambre nuit is a lesser grand soir and the rest of them were not needed
Respect your opinion, but I don’t get grand soir from the Ambre Nuit Esprit de Parfum.
Ambre Nuit smells like a smokey Amber soaked booze that was left in a barrel, it has a slight animalic accord that he mentioned in the video & I don’t get any of that from grand soir.
I feel all of these are superior to the originals.
Especially in current formulations.
Oud Ispahan has been returned to its original glory with added funk from the cumin added.
The new Gris Dior is more mysterious & wears spectacular on skin.
A quick sniff is not enough, these need a full wear!
Does rouge trafalgar esprit have pachouli in the drydown?
It is not an official note.. even if its present, it's not noticeable

@@lennymenye2420 No Problem, It has some hints but it is a gourmand red fruit jam like smell. Better to smell it for yourself before buying because its not cheap
Oud ispahan is already crazy strong...why more?
My guess is that they needed 1 of 5 as Oud to cater to that demographic. So they have a floral, fruity, woody, amber and a oud to cover different customers... Business decision
Extreme prices does sound like a LVMH move. Which makes it even more unappealing urggh.

Your nonsense approach to describe perfumes is so appreciated by a NYer, Ambre Nuit is one of my favorites for winter's season, what is the biggest difference between older & new version?
Thanks for your kindness! I still like the current Ambre Nuit but the amber is not as full bodied as before. Less smoky/resinous/spicy. More rosy and softer. If you get to smell the 3 ml Amber elixir that Dior has, that could give a reference. Hope that helps.

With the way FK is on a re-release mode, I wouldn't be surprised if they asked for Midnight Poison
