Historic Copenhagen stock exchange goes up in flames

- A fire raged through one of the oldest buildings in Copenhagen, Denmark, on Tuesday, causing the collapse of the iconic spire of the 17th-century Old Stock Exchange. Roughly half of the building was destroyed.
There were no reports of casualties and it is too early to know the cause of the fire, police said.

It's sad to see this happen, just as sad as it was to see the Notre Dame fire. This is one of the buildings that my Great Grandfather visited in 1929 when he returned for a visit to Denmark with a church group. They visited many historic buildings and churches, touring the whole country. His trip diary goes has many details about his trip, it's almost like being there yourself.
Dane here. That sounds fascinating! You're very lucky to have that diary. I've visited Børsen 3 times (I don't live in Copenhagen) and was I always in awe of its beauty, especially the Dragon Spire. I love seeing people from all around the world supporting us and sharing stories. Thank you.

Reminds me of the Notre Dame burning. It’s a shame for such historic buildings to be lost, but there will be remnants, so hopefully everyone escaped unharmed.
And like Notre Dame, is seems to have been under renovations.

Very sad, but fortunately it was only the spire, the fire came under control after the spire collapsed. Hoping for a quick recovery, so much destruction in the world in 2024.
