We took our trailer (and 3 dogs) from Seattle to Fiesta Key over the summer. It was a bucket list adventure that didn't disappoint. I would have to say that fishing off the bridge near Fiesta Key was the best part of our 10,000 mile summer.
My wife and I started watching you guys recently and have become big fans. We found ourselves getting burned out with some rv'ing couples who have resorted to over-performing in front of the camera as their subscribers grew. They just seem too phony now. You guys come across as so natural and normal. Looking forward to future videos.
Being native Floridians, we’ve been going to the Keys since the late 70’s. Our kids and now grandkids carry on our yearly trip for lobster season. We don’t do much of the touristy stuff anymore, because we love our”secret” local spots!
How Fun! We just recently learned more about the Keys and how they were popularized in early 1900's by Flagler's railroad! Could only image the Keys 100 years ago before all of this!

I’ve ridden my motorcycle to KeyWest about 8 times from West Palm. I love it. I’ve not been down in my camper yet. Stayed at Boyd’s in a tent in the early 90s.
Next time you go to Key West, I recommend a good Cuban meal at El Siboney at 900 Catherine Street. Another stop near Key West is Geiger Key. Head to the backside to the Geiger Key Marina for some good food.
When you go back again... definately visit the Hemingway House. Really interesting like he was. If you are there and the water is calm definately ride your bikes to Fort Zachary Taylor Beach/Park. Take your water shoes because the beach is rocky when entering the water but keep going and swim out to the breakers to snorkel and see all the fish. Also I recommend Higgs Beach for snorkeling if you haven't done that.
Thanks for the flashback. I lived on Key West from 1982-85 and had a blast. It was not as busy down there as you found it. Never a line at the southern most point. Spring break was crazy. I took my wife down there in 1987 when they were filming the 007 License to Kill and every day we went to see something it was closed for filming. It was August and she about died; we could only go out at night. The best kept secret is the Cuban mix sandwich from a whole in the wall convince store. I really miss them along with fresh gulf jumbo shrimp the size of your hand. A cool place to go is the light house for a great view of the island. It’s too touristy for me now.

We were there Jan 14 and camped at the KOA 🏝️ it’s our 6 trip to Key West in g to be last 3 years 👍 last time we went to the Light House nice view just across the street from Hemingway house. Also on this trip we got into the Bahia Honda state park for one night and had a beautiful view of the water. Take care and safe travels. Also we like to eat at the Banana Cafe on Duval Street.

Was just down there in September, but rode my motorcycle down, not the RV. Always a blast in Key West. Looks like you are having a great time! Taking a jetski tour is fun, recommend it!
Beautiful! I live in Central Florida, so it’s been a spell since I’ve been to Key West. I’m due back. I’ve been to Miami and Key Biscayne in recent years, though. I’m closer to Columbia, SC than I am Key West…lol And that’s two states away.
Awwww 😊 Our summer home was there and we spent Decembers there and it looks so beautiful. We let the house go and now do cruises and stop there when we can. Very hot as I remember.

Shake down trip...pulled it out of the snow 4/2019 in Maine and headed straight to the keys. First time camper owner's and fist time to the keys. Newsbies thru and thru. Been going back every year since.
We visited the keys in 2015, December weather was perfect. We stayed first at the Encore Fiesta Key resort, then Encore's Sunshine Key RV Resort. It was nice, but a bit run down, but the hurricane a few years later, gave them a chance to rebuild it all. We enjoyed Key West, although the cruise ships had just docked, and it was a bit crowded. But with our little Jeep Wrangler we had no problem driving around and parking. And food was fabulous as you demonstrated. I haven't figured out how to drive our RV to Hawaii, but the Keys will do.

Great place. Check out Boyd’s Campground. Expensive , but really nice. Also cycling over the Seven Mile Bridge is awesome. Be sure to bike out to Pigeon Key and the Sunset Grill in Marathon. I always rent a scooter for 24 or 48 hours. Parks anywhere.
@@IreneIronTravels Pigeon Key was a construction base for the Overseas Railway. The state did a very expensive rework of the bridge out to there. Sunset Grill is just across the road.
Christine agrees….they don’t serve lobster like that anywhere else. Her dad use to dive with his buddy Tom and they would get fresh lobster for dinner when she lived in the Keys as a kid.
Have you guys ever done Dry Tortugas? It's a must but it is a 12 hour trip taking the big boat, 4 hrs out, 4 hrs there, 4 hrs back. It's a national park as well, very beautiful.
We haven’t yet! We really thought about it this year, but with the dogs we were concerned. I think we’d have to take the plane out there to save time. But tickets are $450 a person I think. But we’ve heard it’s worth it! Thanks!

Thanks! It is the same camera, but Im using a different lens that I don't use that often. It's a bit heavier so a pain to walk around with, but it does look great! The camera is a Sony A7c and I normally use a wide angle lens (Sony 20mm 1.8) and the lens in this video is the Sigma 24-70 2.8 zoom. Thanks for noticing! 👍
Great video! We just upgraded to a class A RV and are staying at Bluewater Key in March. I saw older clips of you guys with the dogs in Key West and the recent bike trip without them. What is your recommendation when traveling with dogs in Key West? Looks like Eaton Street Seafood was dog-friendly? We have a very well-socialized Corgie with the same RV monitoring as you have, but we would rather take her with us than not. 2-Door Wrangler so parking might not be as bad for us?
Thanks! Yes, lots of dog friendly places in Key West...but it can get really hot and humid during the day so it can be tough for long outings. We use the app "BRINGFIDO" and it shows all the dog friendly restaurants, parks, hotels, etc. Its awesome! Parking will be easy in the jeep for sure. 👍

Those are the Lectric Lites. We love them! They just came out with the lite 2.0 version that has an option for a bigger battery. Thats our only complaint is the small ish battery.
Thanks! About 8 hours is the max we like to leave them alone at home. But we could go a little longer. Sometimes I take them out around 7pm before bed and they don't go back out till 7am...so they can go 12 hours comfortably....
There are 2 TT Oncore parks in the keys. Sunshine key and Fiesta key. They’re fairly easy to get into from April/May to November . But from December to March it’s pretty tough!
Thanks! We booked back in Oct/Nov so about 3 months or so. But thats through our Thousand Trails Membership which has limited sites. I think through regular booking they have openings most of the time.
We stayed on the base in Key West for 2 weeks. We felt it was crowded downtown. It was difficult to find parking. We paid $30 one day. Then Martha/Chris told us we could park at this other base closer and then walk and there was a free shuttle bus or rent a bike. The shuttle was so nice because it had ac and it was still hot 🥵 there in early October. We rented bikes and tried to ride on the sidewalks and that was an obstacle in itself, we won’t do that again 😬😂. I fell off my bike trying to dodge a huge bush and a ton of water. We did think it was beautiful and loved our snorkeling 🤿, Dolphin 🐬, sunset 🌅, and an alcohol boat ride. There was a lot of jellyfish 🪼 in the water and I got stung on my thumb 🤦🏻♀️😂. I much prefer Hawaii.
@@IreneIronTravels definitely 1 I won’t ever forget 😬😂. We get Christmas ornaments for each other every year and my husband got me a Jellyfish 🪼😂. I got him Harry Potter since we went there in Orlando. We were in Florida for 2 1/2 + months with 8 stops in the Alliance RV and drove to several places too. We were exhausted this year! We were in all 4 time zones, and seen over 60+, family/friends/coworkers/#FamAlly. We seen 13 states (11 being new). So excited to be in 1 location until April. Hope to meet you all at the Alliance rally in May. I’ll be there with the PBR. Cheers 🍻

A thing that always bugs me about the Florida keys is all the single use plastic cups, utensils, and styrofoam plates and containers the restaurants use. It's depressing that a place so dependant on clean and clear waters contributes to plastic pollution.
No. We use a chain lock that would require a pretty serious bike thief to cut with a loud power tool. We’ve had no problems with e-bikes , but just don’t use the wimpy cable locks! 😀
🤣 Sooooo hot and humid that day! But Surprisingly it can go from 95% humidity, Sunny, and hot one day to 60% humidity, cloudy, windy and cold the next!
Yes, the high costs are definitely effecting us all! But, part of the whole reason we're doing the full-time RV thing is to continue to travel and sightsee as we work all while we're still able bodied and healthy. Life is so short. Work hard and play hard. 😊 Appreciate you watching!

I did the butterfly conservatory and it was really cool and very worth it. One of my favorite places.
I remember having strawberry pancakes on the 6th floor of a hotel at Key Largo overlooking the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic.

Christine agrees….they don’t serve lobster like that anywhere else. Her dad use to dive with his buddy Tom and they would get fresh lobster for dinner when she lived in the Keys as a kid.

Have you guys ever done Dry Tortugas? It's a must but it is a 12 hour trip taking the big boat, 4 hrs out, 4 hrs there, 4 hrs back. It's a national park as well, very beautiful.
We haven’t yet! We really thought about it this year, but with the dogs we were concerned. I think we’d have to take the plane out there to save time. But tickets are $450 a person I think. But we’ve heard it’s worth it! Thanks!

There isn’t any mud, only white sand.
@@petsur when it rains a lot the sand gets like quicksand so not mud and the waters get murky due to wind too.

Great video! Did you change your camera recently? You're obviously making great use of the (very good) auto-focus and zoom lens.
Thanks! It is the same camera, but Im using a different lens that I don't use that often. It's a bit heavier so a pain to walk around with, but it does look great! The camera is a Sony A7c and I normally use a wide angle lens (Sony 20mm 1.8) and the lens in this video is the Sigma 24-70 2.8 zoom. Thanks for noticing! 👍

Great video! We just upgraded to a class A RV and are staying at Bluewater Key in March. I saw older clips of you guys with the dogs in Key West and the recent bike trip without them. What is your recommendation when traveling with dogs in Key West? Looks like Eaton Street Seafood was dog-friendly? We have a very well-socialized Corgie with the same RV monitoring as you have, but we would rather take her with us than not. 2-Door Wrangler so parking might not be as bad for us?
Thanks! Yes, lots of dog friendly places in Key West...but it can get really hot and humid during the day so it can be tough for long outings. We use the app "BRINGFIDO" and it shows all the dog friendly restaurants, parks, hotels, etc. Its awesome! Parking will be easy in the jeep for sure. 👍
Where are your helmets? If you like lobster. Try Chinese restaurants lobsters. You can have them cooked many ways. Always enjoy your videos

Those are the Lectric Lites. We love them! They just came out with the lite 2.0 version that has an option for a bigger battery. Thats our only complaint is the small ish battery.

Thanks! About 8 hours is the max we like to leave them alone at home. But we could go a little longer. Sometimes I take them out around 7pm before bed and they don't go back out till 7am...so they can go 12 hours comfortably....

There are 2 TT Oncore parks in the keys. Sunshine key and Fiesta key. They’re fairly easy to get into from April/May to November . But from December to March it’s pretty tough!

Thanks! We booked back in Oct/Nov so about 3 months or so. But thats through our Thousand Trails Membership which has limited sites. I think through regular booking they have openings most of the time.

We stayed on the base in Key West for 2 weeks. We felt it was crowded downtown. It was difficult to find parking. We paid $30 one day. Then Martha/Chris told us we could park at this other base closer and then walk and there was a free shuttle bus or rent a bike. The shuttle was so nice because it had ac and it was still hot 🥵 there in early October. We rented bikes and tried to ride on the sidewalks and that was an obstacle in itself, we won’t do that again 😬😂. I fell off my bike trying to dodge a huge bush and a ton of water. We did think it was beautiful and loved our snorkeling 🤿, Dolphin 🐬, sunset 🌅, and an alcohol boat ride. There was a lot of jellyfish 🪼 in the water and I got stung on my thumb 🤦🏻♀️😂. I much prefer Hawaii.

@@IreneIronTravels definitely 1 I won’t ever forget 😬😂. We get Christmas ornaments for each other every year and my husband got me a Jellyfish 🪼😂. I got him Harry Potter since we went there in Orlando. We were in Florida for 2 1/2 + months with 8 stops in the Alliance RV and drove to several places too. We were exhausted this year! We were in all 4 time zones, and seen over 60+, family/friends/coworkers/#FamAlly. We seen 13 states (11 being new). So excited to be in 1 location until April. Hope to meet you all at the Alliance rally in May. I’ll be there with the PBR. Cheers 🍻

@@IreneIronTravels While the rest of the country was in a deep freeze. I've heard of being at the right place at the right time, but this is ridiculous.
A thing that always bugs me about the Florida keys is all the single use plastic cups, utensils, and styrofoam plates and containers the restaurants use. It's depressing that a place so dependant on clean and clear waters contributes to plastic pollution.
We hear ya! It was nice to see them use the biodegradable straws at least.

Do you ever worry about your bikes getting stolen?
No. We use a chain lock that would require a pretty serious bike thief to cut with a loud power tool. We’ve had no problems with e-bikes , but just don’t use the wimpy cable locks! 😀

🤣 Sooooo hot and humid that day! But Surprisingly it can go from 95% humidity, Sunny, and hot one day to 60% humidity, cloudy, windy and cold the next!

Yes, the high costs are definitely effecting us all! But, part of the whole reason we're doing the full-time RV thing is to continue to travel and sightsee as we work all while we're still able bodied and healthy. Life is so short. Work hard and play hard. 😊 Appreciate you watching!
