Thanks for this great tutorial man! I still have a question regarding cells. In at least using Logic X Battery always reset the chosen cell when you open it again. It's always C1. And this is not regarding any controllers. If I just choose with the mouse any cell and minimize Battery and try again open it, it always choose C1 pad. How to avoid that? Or is this just a bug? Just really pain in the ass when you realize after 5 minutes you edited totally wrong cell. Ok this is not happening for me any longer cos I have already used this after using 5 years:). But if you know the answer I really appreciated it. Thanks for the advance one again and try to keep safe in these challenging times...
U R a genius! Thnx for your time. Cars and native instruments are the best things made in Germany. I've been working for 15 years with Traktor DJ. It's time to make millions with this one and Kontakt (you need vocals to match it) . If anybody has an electronic Drum Set like Roland connect it via Midi and play battery samples on logic and bring in on stage on your laptop. You'll shock the world, No-one will believe it's you.
I’ve been wondering for the longest time why my midi hasn’t been working on this beautiful vst, I’ve been through countless forums, videos and websites and here you are casually just saying the answer at 7:33
The MIDI automation works just fine for me. What you need to do is click the MIDI button, select "Add new...", then move a controller that you want to use on your keyboard or whatever, then go to an element within the Battery which is to be controlled and then then right click and select "Learn MIDI". This will pair these two.
Excellent tutorial. I'm in Cubase DAW and I know you can't cover them all. My one wish is for you to have constructed a LOOP using the individual library sounds. You probably explained it but a brief demo "How to make your own multi sound Loop" would have been helpful to a newbie. Also, a resource where to get more Battery sounds/libraries. Rock on.
Hey Quanta. Do you think you might be interested in doing other awesome tutorials like this but may be on expand2 or other VST’s? I’m sure they would turn out fantastic and you would get thousands of great reviews on them. I really appreciate how thorough you were with everything, every different module with explanations!
This is exactly what I’m looking for. I can see this and the Beatstep pro working amazingly together. Any great tutorials out there that can show the mapping of BSP with Battery 4 ??
Can you help me out with a minor thing in battery 4? I made a kick sample in serum - I can add the .wav to a cell thru the files tab but then Id like to save the sample to Library - samples - user - drums - kick - digital, so that I have easy access to it whenever I want. How do I do that? Dragging and dropping doesnt work, saving the cell but it doesnt appear on the library - samples side. this is driving me crazy.. Edit: There is a -import to library option if I right click on the sample on the -files side but it is grayed out. Id really much enjoy doing own samples and tagging them (kick-distorted etc.) but i dunno how..
I'm having issues 😕 when I open battery 4 ... maschine doesn't trigger anything. First should I own battery? I have the komplete now pay 9.99 a month. In native access I see battery library and battery 4. But nothing is triggering. Please Help, thank 😊 U
The refresh icon at the bottom left of the side bar is not for looping the sample. If you activate it, what ever sample you click on, it will load it into the cell your on. It's a 1 tap load. I hate that feature.
Is there anyway to stop battery asking if im sure about changing kits. It also always asks if i want to save altered samples can i stop that or no. Thanks
how do you drag a drum break in and sometimes it splits across cells sometimes it just loads one pad id love to be able to drag and drop drum breaks and they auto slice?? how do i get drum breaks sliced in battery seems like theres no slicer in batter which is weird , i can slice them in other ways but be nice to run them through battery of course

Ok.... Sooo then Battery is just a sound engine VST? Question: What can I use as a standalone (or even hybrid standalone/VST Hybrid) Step Sequencer to drive a VST like Modo Drums?
My kontakt player won't play sounds so I am directly using Battery as my VST plugin with Sibelius. I uploaded my Soundiron Drum corps banks into battery and I can now hear the drum sounds, but I can't figure out how to edit each channel(snare, tenor, quads) with specific tones. Am I even using this program correctly?
Hey guys, so my Battery drum kit sounds only show when clicking on files as opposed to under the library icon. What do I have to do to get the sounds to show under my library?
Hi everyone, is there anyway to get Battery 4 to play back a midi track created from Ez Drummer 2 midi groove libraries ? It doesn't seem to trigger Ez drummers midi notes correct. If so could you please explain in detail how to do this . I'm using Cubase Pro 9.5 MacBook pro Thanks!----
Fasina Adekanmbi; I think Battery does not include those features, it would be a header Studio One (the DAW he is using) adds to every loaded instrument. I have used neither Studio One nor Battery, I'm just guessing.
Hi! I'm using Ableton Live 9 and I don't have the menu on the top. I think it's a menu from your DAW. Any idea how I can set up the MIDI controller to control the envelopes? Thank you!
Hey there! :) In the box where you can read ''Drop Audio Effects Here'', you're gonna see the reduced version of your plug-in. Battery 4 for example. On the left of the plug-in's title, there's three little buttons (the I/O button, the arrow pointing down and the tool). Click on the Arrow to make it pointing right. The Configure button will appear. Click on the Configure button. Your plug-in window will open. Now right-click on any function or effect in the plug-in window that can be mapped and click Enable Host Automation. Now, if you look in the reduced box of your plug-in, a fader has appeared! Fader uses Growl! (Kidding, that was a pokemon joke.) You can use the midi mapping function of Ableton (Cmd+M in OSX or the MIDI button in the right corner of Ableton) to map that new little fader with your midi controller like any other button in Ableton! That's how it's done. If you don't know how to use the midi function of Ableton, google is your best friend! I hope I helped you and will help other people! :)
i have a prob w/ battery, i have an ext.hard drive where i have my ni instuments and content there and when i make a beat then when i re-open it the battery samples that i put doesnt play, they show up on battery but i have to put them again to work fine.. i tried to save my samples but when i take out the hard drive and put it back again they disappear again.! please ur help will be valuable to me:))
You may want to contact Native Instruments on this one, not sure what could be causing that issue. My only thought would be to double check that in the Native Access settings you have that external hard drive set as your location for the NI presets/sounds, etc.
No, you can use any general MIDI controller. You could even use your computer keyboard if you don't have a controller. ruclips.net/video/DvdYwrDy_uo/видео.html
Hey Quanta and others: I need a recommendation. If I am making standard house/deep house, and drum and bass, should I buy Battery 4 or just stick to buying quality drum sample libraries and make beats in FL Studio like I always do? (I want to make my own drumloops, not use the premade ones all the time) Battery 4 is 50% off right now to. I like the idea of trying out an all in one drum solution, but I don't really see many people using Battery and the song demos on the NI website are horrible and don't give me an idea of what it can do. Lastly I read someone's post on RUclips that the drums in Battery 4 are lacking punch or bass. Thoughts?
The Native Instruments 50% off sale goes through the 30th of this month, so, I recommend downloading the trial version of it and see how it feels to you and if it's what you'd like to use to create your beats. Personally, Battery is one of my favorite VSTs and is great for the type of music I make, which uses lots of field samples. If your mainly doing house, etc., FL may just be fine for your. I haven't used FL in over 10 years so I can't really speak on it. If you download the trial version of Battery, that should also give you an idea of whether it has enough punch for you. I've never experienced any issue with that, myself.
Great Video! Can you tell me how to route all the channels to individual instrument tracks within studio one 3.5 Id like to have all instruments playing on separate tracks for arrangement purposes.
Thanks for replying. I watched all episodes just to learn quickly and it helped a lot.I guess I was expecting it to work like Maschine routing where I could select one track to play the sound as opposed to having all instruments in battery being able to be triggered in any and all track.
I'm sure that what your looking for is probably possible, I think I'm just not understanding how you're wording the question. Also, it probably doesn't help that I've never used Maschine. You can create multiple MIDI tracks within S1, that contain separate MIDI data used to play separate cells in Battery, if this is in fact what you're asking. That'd just be a bit much for me to explain right now in the comment section...
First I would like to say that this is an extraordinary tutorial and I plan on watching them repeatedly. The issue I'm having PAD MAPPING. Assigning my pads on my "Alesis V49" to cells in Battery is my Roadblock. I've searched on youtube, google, and Battery's user manual and still I would love to say I tried everything, but I also know when its time to ask for help Could you or anyone assist me in understanding how to do this. How do I assign the cells in Battery to my 4X2 pad setup on my "Alesis v49" midi controller.
Helwn Beats I might be able to help. Your pads should have a midi range (c0-c1etc). You just have to put the drum samples you want on your pads into the battery cells that fall within your pads range.
Both of them will work for anyone trying to lay down basic drum tracks. And if that's all you'd like to do, the simplicity of Impact could actually be a benefit for a newbie. But, if your really serious about drum production and would like the most capable and feature-rich device; hands down it's Battery - no question... The manual for Impact is 3 pages. Battery's manual is 143.
