Nice review, FYI though, your not allowed to check spare lithium batteries under the plane, only carry-on. Might consider using one of these cases for lighting & audio accessories and keep a 1510 carry-on with body and lenses with me.
No worry? How can you rest on the plane assuring your expensive stuffs won’t get lost? For me checked bag must only contain what I call “totally-fine-if-it-gets-lost” stuffs in it. And yeah I’m aware that by size and weight it cannot be carried on.
I got this case last week for my camera gear I purchased it with the foam but there's so much wasted space and the pull and pluck foam doesn't last long, I'm going to invest in the TrekPek system and a lid organiser and I think I will also do the same with my old Pelican 1510 case as those old dividers are wearing out now. Thank you for your video
Have you done any updates to layout? Would like to see how you configured some of your cases based on the garage video you just did. I think I need to get this case and put my 2 1510s to audio and photography gear or something.
If able could you tell me the available dimension of the lower part of the 1650 case with the TrekPak foam layers installed in the bottom? How much depth do you lose form advertised case depth? MANY THANKS!
Probably not, the 1650 is probably too short for regular stands. Mini-stands or tripods that fold up might work! I would suggest the Tenba 38 Grip Case. That's how I usually travel with longer gear.
Cant find 1650 with trekpak dividers but instead Amazon tells me Pelican Air 1615 is a newer version which is a bit smaller but it comes with trekpak dividers. Do you think 1650 would be a better option and then buy dividers separately?
I have that case, but I went with the pick and pull foam which I now regret. I do have it pretty locked in on traveling at under 50lbs. It’s frustrating having to carry on all my lithium ion batteries.
The pluck foam probably has more protection but def takes up more space. Of you fly with a media, you can fly up to 100 lbs! I agree about the batteries though... 🤦♂️
Hey I have. question. Can you tell me the name of those clear plastic bags you used in the case. I've been looking for some but I like what you have going on there.
Hey Robert, I'm about to spend some money on organising gear myself. How would you recommend packing all your equipment to drive to gigs? My gear is all over the place, and I was wondering if you would recommend a system to organise it all properly? Thanks!
The TrekPak is great. How much gear do you have? If you're hauling a lot, I'd recommend the 1610. It's a bit shorter than the 1650 but still has the same depth. The 1510 is also a great option if you need cases that are carry-on compatible for airlines.
What was your reasoning behind the 1650 case vs 1660 case? I ask as the 1650 has a great form factor, but the 1660 could store things in two layers. Primarily using it for c100s, and c300s, do you find the height inside adequate for storing everything for interviews and weddings?
Robert Machado Roberto.. I just moved to USA and this is completely new to me. Planning to fly to Europe quiet often where I have my clients. Could you tell me where and how I could apply for the Media batch? I would I would really appreciate your help. Best regards, Jose
Yeah it is deep, without provision for vertical partition. I'm looking for a shallower option albeit wider and longer and I found one in SKB. There is no matching Trekpak though but you could still improvised or even buy the Pelican trekpak and lay it out.
Just bought one! Amazing case!

Dayum, she hang snatched that! What can't these Pelican cases be used for !?!? Love your work Rob.
I love Pelican cases. Excited to travel with the 1650 as well as doing more snatch tests! Thanks, Peter!
Great review and strong spouse! I am just about ordering it from a local distributor in Germany. Your video pulled the trigger!

Great video. Where did you get those trasparent plastic bags from? Amazon or others? Thanks
I am debating between this and the air version of this? Did you compare the two when you bought this one?
Good job 🎉
So you check in your camera in? Id be worried. Is it fine?
Shame it still has no reply from the poster
Where did you get the clear plastic bags that you use for cords?
I like that snatch test. How much did that all weigh?
How did it work out-3 years later?
Do you think lighting, tripods, and monopods would fit well in the 1615?
Probably not, the 1650 is probably too short for regular stands. Mini-stands or tripods that fold up might work! I would suggest the Tenba 38 Grip Case. That's how I usually travel with longer gear.

Hey! They're just clear makeup bags I got from Amazon! The ones I have are from Pangda.
@@robchado Thank You!

Two years late but it's because of the TrekPak system. Plus that 1660 is deep, stuff is bound to move up and down a lot more.
Sick case bro!
Do a drop test of the case with your all gear in it xD
I have a few flights next month, which are pretty much the same thing. Haha.
Any problem on dimensions and weight on airports?
No prob when flying with a media badge!
Are you paying extra charge for oversized baggage when checking in flights? This is 64.5 inches in stead of flights 62 inches standard?
Airlines usually exempt overweight/oversize fees when you fly with a media badge.

You can just make one yourself; all airlines want to see if something that "looks official."
Is there way to divide it vertically? Since the 1650 is so deep

I ran up on one that's called a 1950 , it's a little bigger but can't find out anything about it. It must be discontinued .
Do you mind me asking how tall you are? just for scale
@WoolFlannel fair enough Carlton
How much did that Pelican weigh?
40-50 lbs. I currently use a smaller case for my cameras and use the 1650 to transport larger items on one-off jobs.

If you never reply to people’s comments, why would you ask for inputs/comments in the videos?
Very nice Setup, great job and sweet girlfriend;)
Where did you get those clear accessory bags?
