Thanks for introducing to me a valve bank that uses joysticks with the same functionality as the forestry equipment that I have been operating for thirty years
You definitely made the right decision upgrading to the telescopic boom. I've got one on my JCB 2CX and it makes thing so much easier. You won't have to reposition your trailer as often which would be a pain with it being hooked up to your UTV,. You've got a great setup there, amazing.
Looking Good Donn and works "PRETTY GOOD" which means FANTASTIC . I sure would have enjoyed owning one of those outfits back about 40 years ago when I was able to get around like you do. I sure did enjoy watching you build this one and all the other things you have built around there in the past several years. Keep up the great work and teach your son how to do what you can do around there. Stay safe and keep em coming. Fred.
A super easy and accurate way to transfer hole locations (like you did for the controls) is to use tape. In this example, stick the tape to the controls, mark the holes, transfer the tape to the mounting surface and you're done! I try to avoid measuring any time I can. Keep up the great vids!
Nice to see one of our British built JCB's. They were everywhere during the 90s then they weren't so popular. Donn is definitely getting his money's worth out of those insulated coveralls
Yes definitely need renewing before they get any worse, there is a seamstress just down the road from me who would make short work of that fix. All the best from England .
I still can't quite believe that you talked Forstman out of one of their cranes! This is turning out to be an amazing rig and combo that you built! Thanks for bringing us along while you built it.
@@DonnDIYyeah, I know. But they usually sell them together with their own load beds and trailers. I was surprised that they sold you one for your own self-built trailer. It's good advertising for them, though! They may end up with a little side business.
That was quite an upgrade on the ”FORSTMAN” my crane has only 600mm axial extension off the boom and i think you have the double ❓ it is great powers working when the crane are @ its max well done see you in the next
Haven't measured the extension but the total reach is 5,1m compared to the pevious 3,5m. The leverage is also muvh greater indeed so I'll have to be careful when grabbing logs with the extension out.
@@DonnDIY Yes it is tricky liftning with the boom extended the crane are protected by the pressure relief valve , but not with an already uplifted load when you extend the boom 🤢5.1 meter are a great weight arm
When it first seated on the pin my only thought was hearing you say: *"Like a glove!"* One of the best YT channels out there. God bless. Btw, as an observation, did is seem as though the motor struggled when it was under heavy load? I'm only wondering how it will do with large logs.
That’s badass. Since last commenting on another video of yours I have put my crane on my trailer. It’s pretty amazing to have the kind of capability I have now. It’s fun to operate also. I would like to add a grapple like yours to pick items up quickly. I bet it’s pretty amazing to have the kind of ability you now have with that. Keep up the good work!
It is amazing. Only downside is that I don't want to go back from this hydraulic crane anymore (if I had to). I've gotten used to having this lifting capacity pretty quick.😀
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼………………………………………………………………………YES!! Getting the log trailer ready to go get some logs for the new SAWMILL!!! LOL It can only mean that the mill is almost ready.
The simpler 2 handle operation is nice but my experience with most hydraulic control buttons is that they are missing the ability for fine movement as they are on/off. This is unless they have proportional movement or they switch the function of the main handle so that the main handle can control the movement of the secondary function.
If the axle drive is identical in speed / revolution to the axle drive of the trailer, that would be easy. I hope the translator brings my thoughts 💭 across in an understandable way. I only have limited command of the English language. 🤷♂️
Is that base plate (for the crane arm) gonna be enough? I mean, even sandwiched like that, it seems to be a little thin for the size of arm this. Even if you only do light duty, that's a lot of leverage. That said, that trailer is M I N T. Awesome piece of kit. Can't wait to see it in operation!!!
The base plate has been enough so far. The crane also sits on the pin and some of the forces are taken by that pin. We'll see how it performs on the job.👍
Did you not grease the pin and the plate before you lowered it down? I appreciate that bit doesn't move but I wouldn't want it to rust together. Nice to see it come together though 😊
if I remember your PTO shaft on your UTV is a direct drive with the driveshaft ,, might need a clutch in the PTO shaft system so that you can move the trailer axle .. maybe install a clutch system on the trailer where you have more room then on the UTV ? , the new boom system looks great ..
I did think of it before this build but opted to buy one instead since I had zero experience in hydraulics back then. Knowing what I know now I would definitely build the crane too.👍
You have a cool set up with your new crane. But I did notice the engine on your hydraulic pump seemed to bog down while doing certain functions under load.
Congratulations on completing the log crane project. I always enjoy watching videos and look forward to new releases. All the best to you. P.S. Winter is coming, have you thought of coming up with something wintery?
Thanks! The trailer was completed though - I just took off the FM35 crane and sold it and replaced it with this FM50T version. Something wintery... 🤔 I could think of something indeed.😀
looks nice, wd. me thinks you gonna need flow restrictions for the thinner cylinders and grapple rotator tho, as of now they work quite fast without load.
Look good. 😊 But it looks like a small platform (maybe fold down) in front of the controls would help the ergonomics greatly. It looks like toy are twisting your back uncomfortably 🤔 This way you would be right in front of the controls, and higher up.
Nice upgrade, Donn!! 😃 I think that, like "My Mechanics" needed a new power button for his sandblasting cabinet, you need new coveralls! 🤣😂🥰😍🤩😉 (Now Donn will just pixelate the open seams from here on. 🤣)

Juba praegu (reaalselt testimata muidugi) tundub mugavam.

The mill is not ready 😀 far from that. I'm struggling with the absence of space where to build the 8-7m truss beam. Have to think of something.

This is unless they have proportional movement or they switch the function of the main handle so that the main handle can control the movement of the secondary function.
I agree. This has restriction valves on it so you can limit the amount of flow to the telescope and grapple and adjust the functionality this way.👍
I think it’s totally cool what you’re doing! You have incredible expertise!! My question: When do you pair the drive of the trailer?? 👍✌️
Once I need it.😀 The PTO dribe needs a clutch of some sort. I just haven't figured it out yet.👍

Hello Donn good job well done

You have a cool set up with your new crane. But I did notice the engine on your hydraulic pump seemed to bog down while doing certain functions under load.
It was bogging down due to the air in tve system. It started working better once it was aired out.👍

They actually have restrictors. I just let them flow freely until the air was out of the system.👍
why is the PTO still not hooked up?
Still needs tow bar modification. And it works even without the trailer drive at the moment so I've been lazy and not bothering with it.😬😅
