    Want these parts for your Hyundai? - www.sxthelement...
    For this video, we hop in a car I never would have found myself reviewing years ago, but Hyundai has really gotten their act together the past few years. With a similar motor to the weird Hyundai Veloster, this has an upgraded turbo to make it one handling sleeper. Not only that, it has a ton of interior upgrades and beautiful headlights to go with it, and a four door Hyundai with coil overs. Thanks for watching and see you next video!

    Its insane how far hyundai has gone, from the genesis brand and my favorite, kia stinger. They have gotten their crap together.. Respect to hyundai 👍

      @416DSM 6 лет назад +4

      Gave Sbbile I agree 100% but as a previous owner of genesis coupe, they still have their flaws. But again, they are still improving. Only thing though is that their brands still have that negative connotation. Myself, depending on how the Stinger turns out, I might buy one in a few years when it depreciates like crazy. Same with another Genesis under the Genesis brand, preferably a coupe. But again, and I don’t want to get into it because it would be an essay, but they still have their flaws. Which is why they price their cars competitively which makes sense (that and again, the negative connotation towards them)

      I average 29.0 right now and that's on sport mode all the time. I also run 89 out of it instead of 87. 15 bucks and it went from a quarter to almost full today. A world of difference from my 06 g35x that "claimed" 19 in the city. Felt more like 10 mpg lol

    • @sanderrambelje
      @sanderrambelje 3 года назад +1

      @@BigDonKedick That's funny! I made a nearly identical switch, coming out of a high-mileage '11 G37X. Whole underbody rusted away, rack-and-pinion replacement cost me an arm and a leg, and I was getting tired of getting 16 mpg with a perfectly average driving style (topped out 22 mpg @ 70 mph on the interstate), so switched to an '18 Elantra Sport. Same driving style, now averaging 31 mpg. Short 30-60 spurts (typical highway on-ramp acceleration) honestly feel nearly as fast in the Hyundai, thanks to the max torque at 1750 rpm and much snappier DCT gearbox (downshifts on kickdown in the G37 took forever...). I feel I'm getting 80-85% of the performance for half the fuel consumption, plus saving 15% on regular vs premium! Which does add up when you're in California...

Averages 38 MPG Depending on how much the mods cost I might start working it over. The only down side on these cars are they are tin cans. Thin steel plastic bumpers basically a throwaway car if it gets into an accident.

      I got mine in a similar way, 2018 se for 11k back in 2021. Higher than normal miles at 72k but it was from a hyundai dealership. 3 year old car at the time for 11k? I was all over it. It's a 6spd too. So fun as a daily. And yeah the fuel economy is crazy good in these things. Even when I drive aggressively I still get 32.5 mpg lol. Wish mine had a bit more power though, so considering adding stuff like you are.
      Also you are 100% right about the tin can thing, I could see it not doing well in an accident. But the beauty of plastic bumpers is they're easy to replace if one gets damaged.

    Following comment is in regards to a statement you made.....
    So, 20 years ago my father bought a Hyundai Accent 1999. This one in particular was as bare minimum as a vehicle can be when purchasing new. My dad bought this vehicle for a daily 185 mile, round trip commute. No power of anything, no air conditioning and it had an AM / FM radio with only front door speakers....
    He drove that car for a 140k miles and did very basic maintenance. I've then took over that car and kicked the ever living shit out of it, over and over, day in and day out for another 80k miles..... I sold it to a friend for $1k, whose sister drove it for another 40k miles. She donated it years later, still running and driving just fine.....
    I say all this in regards to your comment about them falling apart. You are right but you are were a decade too soon. The late 80s / early 90s were very terrible vehicles. Hyundai had already gotten their shit together 20 years ago. That is all!

    I've owned a Veloster Turbo R-Spec, and traded it in for one of these 2017 Elantra Sports. The ride is better than the overly stiff R-Spec, you can really tell the difference the IRS makes in the Sport vesus the stiff torsion bar in the R-Spec, especially over uneven pavement. I don't think I want to turbo swap, but an ECU tune would be awesome. The Sport is a great car already, but if it had 30 more HP it would be amazing. And it has all it's doors.

    This makes me wish that I would've kept my 92 Plymouth Colt with the 4g61t in it with the 1st gen DSM turbo parts on it. My grandfather bought the Colt brand new for like $6000 and it had a 4g15 1.5L 12 valve 93HP engine with a stock 4 speed manual...in a 1992. Anyway, I bought a bone stock 4g61t (89 Dodge Colt GT turbo engine 1.6L DOHC turbo little brother of the 4g63t) and the 11b turbo was seized, so I put a 14b, 440cc injectors, and a 1g DSM ECU in it with a custom jumper harness and it hauled ass. Eventually I got tired of it and put a built 4g63t in it and a 19c Frankenstein turbo on it and it was over the top fast at 16 psi. That car weighed 1800 lbs with the 4g63t in it.

    I don't think it's a bad looking car overall. A lot of people sleep on cars like this or the ultimate what you can modify pretty much any car you want to modify you can if you know what you're doing. End of the day it's not an ugly car

    I have an 2017 Elantra Limited and I love it, just because I’m not really in a place where I can drive something fast (because I’m 18 and my insurance is insane). Everything except for the Elantra SPORT came with a 2.0L NA in-line 4, btw, the 1.6T and the manual were only available in the Elantra Sport. Great review!

    • @Reaper1008

      Justin Kelly,, that is true. But I was meaning that in many cases, when they put a turbo on smaller motor, they tend to have more tq.

It still stands out tho cuz 90% of cars here are yaris's...anyways TANGENT OVER haha i just wanna say you inspire me and just keep doing you. And good luck with the detailing buisness btw

    That's a pretty harsh and completely false narrative about Hyundai.
    20 years ago they made the Hyundai Elantra GLS and it's rapid! 1.6 with 170bhp and it weighted about 1000kg. It was faster than most cars in its class and beyond.
    Kia was the side that built tin sheds, Hyundai have always made pretty good cars.
    Well here in the UK anyway.

    My Ultimate Hyundai Package Lineup:
    Elantra- 1.6T, 2.0 4cyl or 2.0T
    Sonata- 2.5 4cyl, 2.0T or Hybrid
    Tucson- 2.0t, 3.3 v6, 3.8 v6
    Santa Fe- 2.0t, 3.8 V6, 5.0 v8
    All the other models won’t sell as much lol

  • @onlyoneromeo

    This car probably handles better than the veloster because the veloster has a solid beam rear and the back end skips out over bumps and when you break hard as you go over bumps the pads get pushed back into the calipers and the anti lock goes crazy. I hope they address those issues on the next version.

    • @JTube571
      @JTube571 6 лет назад +1

      The 2019 Veloster is built on the same platform as this Elantra and will come exclusively with a multi-link rear suspension.

    • @JustinKelly
      @JustinKelly 6 лет назад

      Yeah same platform as the Elantra SPORT or GT SPORT. If you forget that SPORT then they are not that same chassis since the regular versions of both still have torsion beam which are POS.

    • @JTube571
      @JTube571 6 лет назад

      Justin Kelly All 2019 Velosters will have IRS. Not just the top trims.

    • @JustinKelly
      @JustinKelly 6 лет назад

      Jason M. I know that. I was saying when comparing new the Veloster back to the Elantra you have to compare them to the Sport models otherwise the regular Elantras do not have the IRS.
