Wild Tales of Sugarlandia Season 1 Episode 2 Part 3

In the second episode of Wild Tales man on the ground Ben Scharlin goes on a search for the secretive and elusive Babaylans, or shamans, of Sugarlandia.
Babaylans were intrinsic to the fabric of pre-colonial Philippine socienty, and for centuries have practiced the mystical arts.
They played numerous important roles in the community such as community leader, advisor, healer, and medium between the living and the spirit world. Babaylans in ancient times were primarily women but over the centuries men were included in the training and initiation of babaylanism.
Babaylans exist to this day, esspecially in smaller communities with less access to the modern world, and they still practice their ancient rituals and traditions as healers and spiritual mediums.
But finding the Babaylan can be a tricky prospect.
In this episode ben Scharlin will introduce viewers to some of the last Babaylan in Sugarlandia, in order to capture some of their ancient rituals, some that will be performed on the host himself.
