😅I think a better story would‘be been the invention of chinesse porcelain, the effect it had on Chinesse/ Asian society and how it actually led to centuries of decline in innovation in China compared to The West. Long story short: The Chinese were so happy and content with the invention of porcelain that they did not bother to research or adopt the invention of glass for more than 100 years. Whereas in the case of America’s invention of the Cotton Gin we saw how a single invention propelled their society forward for those who study, adopt and perfect the utility of their innovations, while we saw the indirect damage it causes to those who ignore it, like the case with Chinese porcelain and their Centuries of Humiliation.
You have no idea what you are talking about. The Chinese had glass far earlier then anybody else. What do you think ceramic glaze is made out of? Their Century of Humiliation was caused by closing off their borders and not investing in more efficient military weapons. Being too conservative was what ruined them. It's ironic you bring up the cotton gin out of all inventions that propelled society. If anything, the cotton gin is the reason why the crime rate is so high in the US today. On top of which, all benefits associated with the cotton gin experienced a hard reset in the 1850s. It wasn't until the US dropped the two nuclear bombs on top of Japan did the world even recognize it as a world power. Once again, weapon prowess is the determining factor.
