Truly, Tommy is Canada's country Gentleman - I say this as one who is in awe of him, and I live in Tennessee. Thank you, Tommy.
Tom granted me my first newspaper interview article as a freelance writer. I put together a brilliant article and was happy it was going to run. The Paper then tried to get me to call him and ask him questions about his son's legal troubles. I refused and reminded them that the man was a class act who gave his audiences everything, and we owed him the respect he deserved. They printed the article with no nonsense and no sensationalism.
Bless Tommy Hunter, wherever he may be, for bringing such warmth, love and dignity through his wholesome entertainment program, into the homes of so many Canadians and leaving them with so many fond memories of family time on Sunday nights.
I loved the Tommy Hunter show as child, even now recalling the excitement when it started.... and with my all time favorite Tommy perfomance being... "No Charge". But there is a warning associated with this, if you are prone to leaky eyes and you have brought a child into this realm, you will not be able to listen unmoved.
I'm not into Country music , but as a kid in the 1970's , I always watched the Tommy Hunter Show.
Watching Tommy every Friday night was a MUST and I loved it. Watched all 27 years of his Shows and even before that when he was on Country Hoedown. Saw him several time in Concerts and he had the greatest Shows. Now I can listen to his music on Cd's. Bless you Tommy !
LOVED WATCHIING HIS SHOWS EVERY WEEK.LOVED HIS SONGS

AL RAIN:
YOU WROTE "THE TRAVELLIN MAN?!"
Please tell me why there are no shows like this on TV today.
Big fan of Tommy as well, ever since I was a young child. The Tommy Hunter Show was one of the BEST, Canadian Shows ever made. Easily holding its own with shows of a similar nature ANYWHERE, in the world, INCLUDING, the U.S.
My Canadian Best. Out.
Listening to this sure brings Me back memories as I used to watch the show when I was Young.
Yes George, if there ever was a Canadian ICON, it most certainly was/is Mr. Tommy Hunter.
I so fucking hate how ridiculously low key Canadians are about everything. This show was one of the Greatest Canadian Shows ever made, and Tommy Hunter ranks amoung one of the BEST, Singers/Entertainers ANYWHERE, yet almost, know one outside of Canada knows about the Tommy Hunter Show or Mr. Hunter Himself. Only BECAUSE, it's Canadian!
DAMN! THIS MUST CHANGE!!!! Out.
We really love his show on tv We really miss him on tv xoxo
Makes a person proud to be Canadian.I met him twice in Truro N.S and I must say that he is an icon in Canadian country music.Happy retirement and thanks for the memories.
Small world, I was born in Truro, but residing in Europe since the last 23 years.
i had always enjoyed watching "the Tommy Hunter Show"
to this day i still miss it
i have all the CDs and enjoy them
We ran the A&W Drive-in on Springbank Dr., London ON in the early 1960's. Whenever Tommy was back to town, he often brought his Mom in for a snack. He would usually park his black Caddy along the fence near the building where they had some privacy. All the carhops wanted to wait on him!.
I live near Tommy Hunter way. What a thrill it was when we renamed the street Tommy Hunter Way
George if I was famous I would so look forward to you interviewing me you are a great interviewer
i auditioned for the tommy hunter show back in 1971 with a bunch of my friends who i sang with in a singing group i was in. i was so excited but in those days i was very insecure and nervous. i did not get the job but two of my friends did. the head of the singers and dancers was a dancer named andy body. he was horrible to my friends and they were both fired off the show. but they told me tommy was a great guy and treated everyone with respect
I love Tommy Hunter show.
That's how u knew u were up late when u were a kid. Tommy was on
Yep fondest memories of my gran
I loved The Tommy Hunter Show growing up. I watched it all of the time. My Dad listened to all kinds of music & Tommy Hunter was 1 of many that he listened to. It's always sad to see people retire but, we all know that that day comes eventually. Tommy Hunter always has, still is & always will be a Legendary Canadian Musician & Entertainer. Thank you very much for he many years of your TV shows & Awesome music & entertainment, Tommy. Loved every song & show. :)
if you ever seen Tommy on his tours, his shows were 100% solid music. Only short break, but all continuous music. Never tried stupid jokes or any such things. Always had very good musicians with him. A true Canadian idol. He surely was missed when show cancelled by CBC. Great disappointment to many .
Tommy came to my small town and he had a full crowd. I always loved his music but I could never stand that married couple especially the woman. She sure thought she was the cat's meow. She really thought she was something special. I couldn't stand her and she stands out in my mind when you showed their pictures.
@@almabelhumeur6672 Agree. Leroy/Donna. Both high egos. But Tommy made up for it. Everyone liked him. Band and all. Such a drastic day when CBC dropped the show. In fact. Tommy actually embarrassed. He said when he came off the plane he didn't want people to recognize him so wore dark glasses! He was so shocked by cancellation. Music/TV business can be brutal. I seen his victory lap tours later and he gave just amazing performance. Hardly any breaks, steady music. Yeh, sad times.
the audience was let down by CBC when they cancelled the show - I certainly was sad about it, and they just 'dropped the ball' and never picked it up again with Tommy or anyone else. Sad.
I saw Tommy Hunter when i was I was a child in Campbellton NB and man, I did not know if I wanted to marry him or adopt him as my father to be ... either way I was and and still am your greatest fan
Leslie Ann Ferguson Tommy Commons songs
The day the CBC cancelled the Tommy Hunter Show for no reason is the day I stopped watching CBC. Twenty years and counting...
You know, watch how CBC screwed up the National after Peter retired. I seldom watch anymore. All amateurs.
Tommy Hunter is a National Treasure
Indeed, Boris. Indeed. As is David Suzuki in the Science field.
Damn I wish Canada would honour its own a damn sight better than we do.
My Canadian Best. Out.
@B H : Excuse me. What the hell, are you getting on with here?! In the field of SCIENCE, David IS, a National Treasure. Christ, name another Canadian in the Science field, that has reached David's stature.
Don't get on with shit, please, because the man is of Asian descent and is maybe, a little more Liberal than maybe, you'd prefer.
Also David IS, of Tommy's generation, you fool. They can't be that far apart in age. Tommy is in his 70s early 80s maybe, and I'm pretty sure David is in his 70s too, now.
God, I hate how some Canadians carry on. Out.
My dad...pulled Tommy outta a mud-hole during a rainstorm many years ago when tommy was just a flirt. Tommy said, 'By THe Way' I am tommy hunter...my dad said ..."thats nice...I am Soren" 40 years later I put it all together. RIP Dad.
Ha! ha!...lol!
6 years later.....I had to look up “Soren”. Your Dad was a pretty cool fellow. I know you miss him. Thank you for your story...Mac
Wow! When Shania Twain was young she was a snaggle-toothed horror. Thank God for orthodontists.
