    What a beautiful, inspiration review that hits more on the “feeling” of a lens rather than specs and pixel peeping. Thank god. For me, a lens is all about how it inspires me. So, went ahead and ordered one ;)

    Yes it’s a great lens! It’s one I didn’t pick up because I already have the 10-24 F4 and the 16 -55 2.8. The latter I take on hikes and it’s heavy enough. Since I’m 64, I’ve learned that the weight matters. I opted to buy the new 18 1.4 for architecture and it’s been very nice.
    Thanks for your review, I still would like to have that lens, but I’m now in the street photography so I’ve been purchasing lenses for people.
    Thanks for the review. 😜🖖

      Thank you and glad you agree! I am just about half your age and I still think weight matters! Especially on long hikes! The 18mm 1.4 sounds like another great lens and the other ones you mentioned. Sometimes it is difficult to know which lens to choose and why, I ended up with this one but pretty happy with the decision. It would be great to try out all of the Fuji lens range - maybe one day hey! You are most welcome and thank you for your comment! 🙃🤘🏻

      Ever since I retired at 59 1/2, I got the street photography bug. This was from discovering Vivian Maier, before that I didn’t really have much interest in Street.
      The lenses I find I like best for street are 18 1.4, 50 F2, 90 F2. The first ones I used for street was my 16- 55 2.8. Then I realized that primes are much better for people.

    Great perspective on how this lens fits your style of photography. I'm more partial to primes and the 16mm f1.4 is one of my favourites for wide angle. You may really enjoy the close focus and shallow depth of field that lens provides. I also watched your review of the 100-400mm and enjoy that your videos focus on how the lens capture the images you want rather than all of the technical aspects of the lens (there are a lot of those vdeos available already). For me the enjoyment I get from using Fuji cameras and lens is that feeling of making an image rather than just having the 'top spec' camera. I think that is a common feeling for Fuji users. Also, absolutely adore the picture of your dog Eric in the green dragon hat! He is so cute.

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  2 года назад +1

      Thank you for your comment, I really enjoyed reading it! I completely agree with you about primes, they are my favourite kind of lens and I have a review about the 56mm which says this, they are the best. I have never tried the 16mm f1.4 but it does look like a great lens, that's what I miss with this lens is the wider aperture range! Thank you for making the point about the enjoyment of the Fuji range, this is music too my ears. I have a vlog coming out this afternoon about the 35mm which talks about this - character in lenses, I think you will like it. I wanted to do my reviews from a user perspective and why I enjoy using them! and you are right, this is a common feeling amongst Fuji users which is really lovely to know! and finally, hehe yes, Erik is the cutes pup ever! 🙃

    New subscriber here! I love the 8-16mm. However, it's so heavy and big that I usually just go with my 23mm 1.4. It is a beautiful lens. The build quality is amazing, focus is great, and the distortion is very limited.

    I would like to receive your advice on which objective to buy between the Fuji 8-16mm or the Fuji 8mm, for interiors of monuments and exteriors. I have the 10-24 but sometimes it falls short in angle.

    • @wildandfreevictoria
      @wildandfreevictoria  11 месяцев назад +1

      I haven't used the 8mm, but I imagine as a prime it will have a wider aperture and if you are looking at using it for handheld interiors then it is a great option as you can have the wider aperture in darker lit rooms. But the benefit of the 8-16mm is that you have that focal range if you want to change the look of your image. It is a tough decision, maybe borrow the two from Fujifilm and test them out 🙃
