    i picked up my own single pickup treasure today, a mid to late 60s Teisco "norma" eg-300, has a gold foil pickup near the neck, paid $30 at the local thrift store. needs strings but its defiantly been played and has a lot of character

    • @mikepalumbo4362

      Kyle Bowen Did that have 'Norma' on the headstock? I had a Norma jumbo 12 string back in early to mid-70's, until it was stolen. Great sounding guitar.

    Either Norm's buys in a lot of LP/SG Juniors, or they're Mark's favorite guitar. He demo's them all the time. Strats and Teles are endangered species on GOTD. He plays a Fender at least once a week, but lately they haven't been a Strat or Tele.

      they're one of the cheapest vintage gibson's you can buy.... you can grab one from late 63-65 for 1500-2500 bucks. I like mine allot.... the 63-65 has the fatter wide neck, and the fretboard has a fairly flat radius as well, so they are easy to play. The 61-63 Les Paul logo SG Jr is a little more money 2k-3500.

      Les disliked the guitar, wanted
      no association with it and demanded that his name not
      be on it.

    • @davidkieltyka9
      @davidkieltyka9 7 лет назад +2

      Not quite that simple. Keep in mind the LP range wasn't selling that well, and Gibson was looking for ways to boost sales. Les' popularity as a pop artist was declining too. Why do you think Gibson changed the LP guitars' design and came up with the SG name (which overlapped with the "Les Paul" logo for nearly three years) if they planned to keep Les as an endorser long term? Les always claimed that he ended the endorsement deal, but if true I suspect it was because Gibson was forcing the issue.
      In hindsight we tend to think Les Paul was great for Gibson, but the sales numbers through the '50s don't back that up. It was other players who made the LP guitars popular, and then only some years after they'd been discontinued.

      @davidkieltyka9 7 лет назад

      I think Gibson just wanted a different name for the guitars. I also suspect they were looking to ease Les out of his endorsement since his popularity had dropped and the LP guitars weren't selling that well. Thus the "SG."
