My employer offers to sponsor for a GC and since the H1B is already passed for this year, if we decide to go for directly sponsoring, do they need to justify to department of label why me and not a US citizen or I-140 would be the first step to the process? And how long is typically the process? Can I still be travelling internationally by the time the whole process ends?
