    I’m glad you are being strict with the puppies potential adopters. Too many people get puppies and they either can’t handle the responsibility, don’t have the right home environment, can’t give them the time they need etc. you care about them and want to make sure they get the best home possible and I love that ❤

      Yah , absolutely! For my first dog, I was in my late 20’s, I had to go for an interview that lasted 45 minutes with the breeder. He asked me my lifestyle, how big of a place I lived in, a general question about income, what parks, outdoor areas I lived around.He also said that I wasn’t guaranteed getting one. ( the pups were 3 days old then) I would be called, if he had a puppy with a temperament that fit into my living conditions.He said that if approved, I would have to come and visit the pup once a week. If I missed a week, I wouldn’t get the pup. I had to bring a blanket on the third week, and I would get it back when /if I took the puppy home. He wanted to know if I had a name for it, ( I did) and at 2 years old I would have to get it certified by my vet, that he was ok with all the diseases that can effect the breed. ( he was a medium size dog, hips were of major concern).
      I ended up getting a very calm,docile male, who was good in the car, didn’t chew on the furniture,toilet trained,( he had one accident) and didn’t have much separation anxiety.
      The whole process that the breeder put me through, paid off in the end. At 6 months old, I got a call from the breeder asking me how Napoleon had settled in with me, and checked to see that he was getting outside. He asked me about accidents, and any problem behaviours that I was having. Even gave me tips if certain behaviours popped up. And yes, if things got too much, I had to give him back to the breeder.
      I would do it all over again. This breeder really cared about the dogs, not just his pocketbook!
      Stay safe, stay sane, stay Strong 🏳️‍🌈

    Monty wasn't the only one who wanted to see you, those pups recognized who you are and they were happy to see you. I am glad you are going to vet all the people putting in their applications for the puppies. They deserve good homes and putting in the clause if they don't work out to give back to you and to not put them in the shelters like Monty was. She was lucky she got you and I want those pups to have great parents.

    I found your channel through the concurrent videos on Joey's channel and I have to say, mad respect to you with the way you are about your business -- both your actual business and being a dog dad to the puppies. I watched a couple of your recent videos and I admire how genuine and transparent you come across. Vulnerability is not something most content creators showcase, but it makes you relatable in a way I wasn't expecting. I hope you find the perfect homes for the puppies. Happy holidays!

    I’m so happy you’re doing an interview to place the puppies!! Little tip and trick: ask “What behaviors would make you want to re-home or surrender the do?” It’s a HUGE red flag when people answer “nothing” to that question. I help shelter dogs find a second home and most people put “nothing” for that question because they think it’s what we want to hear. But it means they are unprepared/unrealistic about behavior changes that may pop up in dogs.

    For the litter boxes: because the line pellets break down when they get wet an idea to keep the litter longer is to buy 2 more additional boxes the same size and drill holes slightly smaller then the diameter of the pellets into the bottom of the pans. Lots of holes, you're basically turning them into sifters. The bottom pan catches the saw dust from the broken up pellets when sifted daily. a spacer can also be attached to the bottom of the drilled pan to allow space for the saw dust in the bottom pan.

    It's really disappointing to hear you'd discriminate against people just for living in an apartment. Housing is up 25% in the past year alone. That doesn't mean someone couldn't afford a dog. Backyards are not necessary for dogs when there are so many places to walk, run, hike, bike, etc with a dog, as well as places like dog parks. Hell, my apartment complex has a fenced in area on it specifically for dogs. I just have to put a bit more effort into it than opening the back door and leaving my dog to run around unsupervised. He gets plenty of structured and unstructured exercise, no house needed.

    • @MisterPreda
      @MisterPreda  Год назад

      Babe, I lived in many apartments my entire life, I’m not discriminating. It’s just a fact that most apartments don’t allow animals or have access to a yard directly and that’s not fair to large animals.

    • @JustACitrus
      @JustACitrus Год назад +2

      @@MisterPreda That's simply factually untrue! Almost every apartment in my area allows dogs (if not every - certainly when I was looking, the ones I looked at all did), and I already provided examples of the swaths of options available for people to exercise their pets. There's just no UNSUPERVISED options, which is... a GOOD THING. It's much safer for dogs to have supervision.

I know about the reasoning behind adoption fees (I have done work with animal rescue myself) but if it's not a fee you need to recover any costs, you could provide the adopters with puppy send-off baskets equivalent to the adoption fee cost.. Things like a small bag of food that they have been eating, a toy (bonus to give it the day before so it's a comfort thing), etc! Just a thought, since you specifically mentioned doing this out of love, not for business.

You never forget how somebody made you feel and the love you have for them never dies, so your grief is incredibly valid and no matter how long it has been, you should attend the funeral or memorial, whatever they have. Don't miss that experience, as it is an Important part of grief and paying your respects to the family matters, not just to you, but to them. No matter what your relationship is to them if any, it matters that they see all the people that cared about him. And you won't regret it! You know that there are women who keep having babies either because they love infants or they love being pregnant? I think you guys are like that with animals (especially as you are always all up in their you-know-whats while they are trying to give birth peacefully). It's an illness, and you need to STOP.

    Also for starting litter training its easiest to use like boot trays/show trays with the pellets in them, just small amounts so they slowly get used to it and can easier get in and out! And then slowly increase the depth! :)

    I use those Pellets for my rabbits and I also use paper Pellets, so its definitely safe. What I don't like about the pine is it gets really messy and tracks every where and doesn't really last long. If you want bigger litter boxes you can buy storage containers, the long low to ground ones. What I've learned about pellet litter is the more space it has the longer it lasts, especially since there are soo many babies it would work well for you!

      I thought pine was toxic for dogs?

    • @H3ypartner
      @H3ypartner Год назад

      @@jenmontzingo if the litter is kiln dried its safer it gets rid of the toxicity of pine, the phenol chemicals. The drying/burning gets rid of it. What would be more concerning is if they eat a whole bunch of non clumping litter it will swell and will cause blockage. If they ingest a little bit it's not as lethal.

    • @H3ypartner

      @@jenmontzingo of course you are welcome! 😊Daniel can also put a grate over the litter box so the pups won't be able to eat the litter. Thats terrible! Is the dog okay? Poor baby. I just know if it's like a Christmas tree that is not safe, but pine furniture that should be fine cuz its dried. For things like cleaning supplies, candles, and oils I am not sure.

Sending a sea of love and light your way 💙✨ For you or any of your viewers who might want to take a look, Modern Loss has a great website and IG posts on all kinds of loss and grieving, can definitely be rough around the holidays 💔💜 Also, Chewy and Petco have litter boxes for puppies and senior cats with one really low side, so they can walk right in it, but I could only find them online. Amazon might have them, too.

    I Love that you are so particular about who the puppies go it. It definitely is hard for those of us in apartments to get dogs but thankfully I was able to get my perfect boy Viggo. He is very active and social goes on walks, has dates and goes to daycare. Sadly I see a lot of apartment dogs barely going out which is awful. I knew going into it, I'd have to put forth extra effort to ensure he had an active and fulfilled life.

    [Daniel, it's perfectly fine to sell those beautiful puppies, they are pedigree pups, raised in a loving home. Don't even give it a second thought. The problem comes is when breeders do an awful job caring for the mother and the pups. The pups never receive socialization nor good hygiene and then given terrible food]

    You are being both loving and responsible in finding the perfect homes for the puppies. There are wonderful people with time and resources who truly want a dog and are committed to being great parents/owners. Your vetting process is to be admired. Here’s to each and every one of Monty’s babies finding their absolutely “pawfect” “furever” homes. Hope you feel less stressed and sad as you work through the loss of your friend. Grieving is so very painful. 🌹

    I'm SO glad you're much more strict than my mom was years ago when we were forced to give away our cat because her new boyfriend's daughter was deathly allergic. We gave her away to a couple, and a year later we got a call from a pound asking if we were missing our microchipped cat. This made us so sad and regret giving her away so make sure you back round check every single person who adopts a puppy! I wish I could adopt one, not just because they're adorable, but I also would love to have a loving golden again like the one that had passed of old age, but I unfortunately don't live in California

Also working from home as a small business owner, I swear I check every box for adopting one of these babies APART FROM THE DANG LOCATION IN THE WORLD hahahaa, prayers they will all go to the best ever homes!
