It was pretty funny watching DK Yoo getting knocked down a bunch of times and having the Korean ref calling them slips and then letting him recover for a minute each time while the clock was still going. Just a comedic sequence of events all round in a sport that's not supposed to be a comedy.

Told the competitors that's exactly what he wanted, gave them quite a lot of heads up and paid for their training, only allowed late card subs if they had experience training. Sadly, I totally get it. Since the rise of MMA, boxing has sort of became a side show. Something to just watch for fun. People will happily pick up a pair of gloves and try to challenge a boxer just because of these types of matches. I'm not gonna blame the two fighters in this match because well, it's just an exhibition match. But I will blame every single match where a RUclipsr had beef with someone and decided to make it a boxing match.
People wouldn't dare get into an MMA match like this. However, watch. Once one of the Paul brothers decides to pick up MMA, average Joe's are gonna be like, yeah, I can do it too.

In the case of a serious flagrant foul (ie: a low blow) only when signaled by the referee (not one of the fighters) the timekeeper will stop the clock for up to 90 seconds. If the fouled fighter is unable to continue, the bout will be called off.
What we saw in this exhibition was absolutely ridiculous in terms of reffing and time keeping. Every knock down resulted in DK getting a break for half the round while the clock continued to tick. If a boxer cannot continue immediately after a “slip”, which is what the ref called every knockdown, then it’s clearly not a slip. If a fighter cannot continue before the 8 seconds of the mandatory 8 count after a knockdown, the fight ends and its ruled a TKO.
A fighter does not have the authority to call foul shots like DK did when accusing Manny of striking the back of the head. If that were a legitimate call by the referee for a flagrant foul, the clock would be stopped for up to 90 seconds.
The people who put this fight on do not know the rules of boxing or do not care about the rules of boxing, at all.

Entirely agree with you that this sort of "exhibition" is demeaning to the sport of boxing. It makes a mockery of everybody that actually trained hard, bloody hard, to acquire the skill, willpower, grit what have you, to actually make themselves a name. And as you say, it's a sport that can kill you; not to be treated lightly.
The footage I found on utube prior to watching your video was heavily edited....Minute long rests for DKY you mentioned weren't shown and I suspect a whole lot more that was embarrassing to him got clipped out as well. It's strange you know when you figure that the martial arts are meant in a way to stimulate in the individual an awareness of humility and self reflection. But I can't see any of that in DK Yoo.

This is why I have beef with this YT boxing match and people who think that it's going to reinvigorate the sport. It really turns the sport into a complete joke and will send the wrong message to the masses. Even when I was in Thailand being a Muay Thai fighter, every exhibition match usually being done by 2 experience fighter who retired. No one is crazy enough to enter the ring. Even For me who train as a boxer at the age of nine. it took me at least 2 years of training (it was grueling and intense that's excluding training in between fights) to transition my self from boxing to Muay Thai and start at the very low level until i gain enough experience to fight at stadium level. That was 1989 and 1991 is where i'm confident and proficient enough with it until i decided to stop competing in 1995. And now a RUclipsrs with few to no formal boxing training can setup a boxing match and racking up millions? I choose the wrong way it seems 😆😆😆. Why bother putting my self through insane training regiment for 2 years if these clowns can do it in months and making millions 🤦🤦🤦😄

I actually think that it's worse than this. DK Yoo makes a lot of money from a huge amount of people with his seminas and online tutorials instructing people in his unique fighting system. The problem is that a vast amount of his teaching involves quite esoteric techniques and philosophys that to the best of my knowledge have never been tested against any genuine resisting opponents. For example he claims that he can absorb any blow, no matter how strong, like water. Yet he did not uses any of these more fantastical techniques in either of his two matches. He used boxing (not good boxing, but boxing nontheless) thuse proving that even he does not have any confidence in the fighting system that he is selling to people. People who know nothing about combat sports, will be assuming that he is doing so well in his matches due to his fighting system, and not realise that he is just using plain old fashioned boxing. This will encourage more people to buy what he is selling, which must be considered fake until he can prove that it works. I'd have more respect for DK if he was at least trying to use his special system, but he is not even trying to. At least Jake Paul is not trying to con people by selling them the dream of an invincible mystical fighting system.

Boxing is a part of his modern warfare combat system. Outside of boxing, most of the techniques in his WCS he can't use in a boxing match. For example, the one inch punch is illegal in boxing, because it's considered a push, not a punch. But the few things outside of boxing that are legal, like kung fu back fists, he does use. Again, another example of a delusional hater talking out of his ass. His WCS literally has knife fighting in it dummy. Wtf do you want him to do during the match? Stab someone in the neck? I went to his website, and the first video I saw was him doing a simple muay thai slap block against a jab, into an eye poke. Obviously he's not going to do that in a boxing match. Why do you people even comment? So boring.
