I don't know if this helps, but you really don't need anything special to do it! I tend to only use a drawing tablet to do rough sketches. I find the mouse to feel much more natural since pixel art doesn't tend to require skillful brush strokes unless you are working at a very high resolution :)
@aykomen ahh great taste! But that ultimately would be up to you. That artstyle does have a slightly more free painted vibe. If you are comfortable with using a tablet, I'd probably recommend it, but Aseprite also doesn't work as well for higher resolutions. You might look for different drawing software and turn off anti-aliasing?
@@aykomen I actually mostly use a mouse and keyboard and I know a lot of very skilled pixel artists use mouse and keyboard as well. It all comes down to preference, I find animating with the mouse far easier. You can definitely do the blash style with either, just whatever you end up more comfortable with. Pixel art doesn't need precision strokes and fancy style so you can get away with no pen/tablet. I'd experiment with both and see what you like best 😀
There it is... The video, thanks so much man, great tips and video, as always. I have one question for you again, how do you make for autofilling what you draw with the pencil??
Thanks for these tips.. I use Photoshop for my pixel art, but have taken a quick look over the features of Aseprite and they seem cool but nothing jumped out at me to make me want to throw away muscle memory and relearn software. Would you (or anyone else here) think it offers some serious quality of life improvements over PS? I really like the idea that it's whole ecosystem is geared towards pixel art, (especially the UI!) without any other distractions (although quite minor for me at this point). Interested to hear any opinions? 👍
@@elone3997 I think if you're comfortable with Photoshop and use it the only major benefit of switching would be not paying for the PS subscription. For beginners starting and no experience in either then aseprite all day long.
