The Aranjuez theme takes us to Spain, immediately. I like the light touch in playing these wonderful jazz musicians have like it was in the old Return to forever album. Great, indeed! They do a fine job bringing out the Spanish heart of this piece respectfully! Sina is especially astounding, being a young rock drummer, but sensing all the good jazz vibes here. You can choose the way you play drums in this. I think that Dave Weckl had too much fills and flash in his playing, Airto Moreira was more like an all-round lyrical percussionist. I liked that! He left the RTF band too early. I like Sina’s playing a lot, too I love it. She doesn’t make it too showy, except that in the late part 5min or so onwards she shows what she can do if she wants to paint with more colours! And she can do a lot! Wunderkind sie ist! Thanks to everyone involved in this!
When I was 8 and the Beatles came to America, my dad decided he would find songs of theirs (and others like the Beach Boys) that he liked. He loved jazz, a devoted fan of the jazz of the late 30s and 40s. We spent my preteen and teen years, the mid 60's and 70s, listening to "my" music and we also spent time listening to "his" music. Now, I am in my 60s and he is no longer here, but I still love all that wonderful music, and it's really all "our" music. Thank you for loving and playing it all, Sina!
That's the difference with (all) sports, where everyone wants to be the best (ego). In music, everyone wants to learn something from everyone without being the best (ego), music is a friend for and through everyone. I played the drums from the age of 16 until I was 22 and stopped for 40 years. I have been playing the drums again for 1 year now and it is wonderful! and I'm glad I'm doing it again on the advice of my daughter. no, I don't regret the lost 40 years,
I love Jazz and Sina just showed why she is one of the best in the world. I heard this was her final exam at school that year and if so I would give her an A+!
Jazz Master too! Aay.. You are one of the few drummers I can just sit back & listen to for an hour. Don't need a singer upfront! You are the star upfront. Classic Rock 70's, & all the stuff during the 80's is amazing! You are as good or better than any of the drummers on the original Tracks.. But showing your range and nailing Jazz too. Wow.
One of my favorite pieces. I saw Chick/Return to Forever in California when Stanley was playing bass. I did something insane. The band had done a few tunes. Then the theater was totally quiet. I yell out"Cut Loose Stanley!" The crowd responded. It was a fun time. Nice job on bass. And Sina great on drums. Such a feel for so many styles.
From Sina we no longer speak of a promise, we speak of a young professional drummer. Sina is much better than many, but many drummers of current groups. Even much better than the current Boston drummer to name just one. I hope that very soon we will see Sina in a great concert, she deserves it and she has the quality for that
Being from South Louisiana (US) actually not far from New Orleans, JAZZ is part of who we are !! I enjoy a change of pace, showcases your versatility ! THANKS ! 🤘😎🥁👣
Yes it was soft and yes it was soothing and I'm glad that so many of your fans enjoyed it. HOWEVER you are the best drummer in the world and a rock goddess. The one and only person who has the enviable ability and responsibility to bring rock back. I think jazz has had its day so don't waist anymore time on it. Millions will tell you that hard rock like from the 70's, 80's and 90's is not dead... it's just been resting. All rock needs is a supremely talented icon such as you to re boot it again. You, young lady are the chosen one. Take your god given abilities to everyone with world tours and do it now before you get old. You will make zillions. For those about to rock... we salute you. Luv ya babe
It’s difficult to believe Sina recorded this 4 years ago! It’s an incredibly technical piece, and the whole trio have really lifted my spirits, it’s so good. Just beautiful. ❤
So much fun to see and hear you play in a jazz trio with Bolle and Ernie again! It just had to be a thrill to have a bit of a jam with these tremendous musicians! You can do this too, awesome! Smoooooooth...
That was Super Cool. I love the jazz and Sina, you look so at home back there doing this jazz. You three play so well together. The third piece will be well worth the wait. Ernie, Bolle and Sina look like they have be doing this for years, they are so flawless and cool together. This has got to be 5 out of 5 stars and all kinds of thumbs up. Thanks for a smooth Spain.
What day is it? TGIF! Perhaps you might prefer "Endlich Freitag!" and imagine you're strolling around Germany and, hearing some familiar music, wander into 'Sina's Jazzkeller'. Live music, no cover charge. Sit back and check out the band... THE SONG - "Spain" was composed, in 1971, by jazz keyboardist Chick Corea and appeared on the album 'Light as a Feather'. Recording took place on October 8 and 15, 1972 in London and the album was released in January 1973. The album won Playboy's Jazz Album of the Year and reached #6 on Billboard's Jazz Album chart in 1973. "Spain" is considered to be a jazz standard and is probably Corea's most recognizable and definitive song. It has been covered by a wide range of bands - big and small ensembles - from professional to amateur school bands. It has a quirky melody and extended exciting improv sections with the song switching to a fast, steady samba-like rhythm and tempo and coloration variations that maintain listener interest whether the arrangement is relatively short or considerably extended. "Spain" is the second of three jazz songs that Sina recorded live with Ernie Griffin and Wolfgang "Bolle" Diekmann on Aug 10, 2018. Cool jazz on a hot day! THE TRIO - Piano virtuoso Ernie Griffin and bass master Bolle Diekmann are lecturers at the Drummers Institute and Sina studied ensemble playing under them. The arrangement for "Spain", as performed here, was made by Ernie and was used as the basis for the ensemble playing course. Rosanna asked how Sina studied the piece - RO: There are many versions of "Spain". Did you study Chick Corea's original or some other? SINA: We played "Spain" in Drummers Institute in the subject 'Ensemble'. I also listened to Chick Corea's version, but I played the 'Drummers Institute version' in the video. RO: How were you introduced to the song at DI by Ernie? SINA: There was an audio recording of the previous year's performance. In the lesson he told us how last year's students did it and what he liked and disliked about it. RO: How specific was your drum chart? SINA: My drum chart was not specific. In fact, we did not have a drum chart at all, but the piano sheet music. We were always free to improvise and add some things of our own to the song. One thing that we can be specific about, this is an excellent performance by a jazz trio. You won't find a single note or beat out of place. It can be a real challenge for small, intimate ensembles. While they have a bit more freedom to improvise and substitute, everything they play is "up front". There is nowhere to hide, no room for error. Definitely not a concern for these three musicians. Well done!
Wonderful review Juliet 😊. I'm always looking forward to your reviews and Sina's drumming every TGIF ♥️. Thank you for all that you, Ro and Sina do to make this a great Friday 😊
Juliet and Rosanna, ladies wonderful job on this week's Wiki-Sina-Pedia! I enjoyed the read👏 Sina, Ernie and Bolle your Trio makes for a very Jazzy TGIF! Thank you. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Lastly thank you RUclips. Three weeks in a row, not giving Juliet a glitch. That is a record. 🤣
Seen Chic Corea along with saxophonist John Klemmer live in Miami yrs ago. Amazing show! Keep up your versatility Sina that is what makes you a great musician..TOLLER JOB!!!
I love jazz, thank you Sina to come in this kind of music where your performances are excellent, even if I like to see you play rock with your hair twirling in every way.
Once again Sina has proven why she is the best female drummer in the world. I love that you can play a wide range of music keep up the great drumming ♥️ Everyone did a great job 😚.
I never thought I would hear - and see - jazz in this area, but glad I did, it made my foot start tapping. A credit to all three of you. Thank you for the relaxing tune.
Sina, I must admit I never appreciated jazz very much growing up. It was always rock and roll or popular music but as I got older I started to appreciate that the real musicians play jazz. I love to watch you as you follow the other musicians in the group watching them and coming in with your drums precisely on cue it is a true sine of an artist and you can certainly play any genre anywhere and fit right in its a great gift you have and I love to watch you play
You continue to grow as a drummer and overall musician, Sina, by exposing yourself to genres well outside the classic rock that you love so much and thus expanding your skill set. Well done!
Wow...look at you smile Sina! I think you really have a knack for jazz and I applaud the fact that a young talented drummer like you wants to stretch out and try many types of drumming. I loved the tune and I love all your videos! HUGZ (The Whoo)
Sina Bravo! honestly I did not really believe it and I was wrong !!! From the point of view of musical technique, its richness and complexity today are such that it is difficult to describe precisely what characterizes it. Jazz includes a very wide variety of subtypes. Congratulations again!
Hay Sina, this is so outstanding good, I played it seven times without one pause and I'm playing it more and more and more!!!! What a nice gift. Many greetings from Amsterdam
I'm so glad to see you move into jazz and take on one of its most popular and challenging songs. Excellent work by all! A performance equal to any other recorded!
Lord have mercy! From hammering out Keith Moon's tribute of "Won't Get Fooled Again". Eight minutes of non stop massive energy that I could almost feel through my tablet screen to this! Spain, I believe I saw Chick Corea play this shortly after the album came out in NYC. Playing with Stanley Clarke on bass. I can't remember the rest of the band. I'm old now... Yep, you certainly are versatile. As usual, I wish all the best in the world for you. Best Regards... 🌞
Sina, nicely done.. Jazz is something i enjoy at the right time. Its like relaxing soothing or which ever you feel. It seems to be very easy to drum to BUT, i bet is is not and from what i could see and hear, you were spot on. I love your variety of music and I feel maybe jazz is a nice change of pace to you. I am not used to seeing without earphones so maybe Jazz and drumming is more extemporaneous to play. I enjoyed this lil piece. Thank you Sina!!
That was a great rendition of that song. I liked how you mellowed it out from the original version. Fantastic performances by all and so tightly played. More jazz!

Whoa, another memorable one for me! But I can't remember if the last time l listened to this was at a jazz bar or when I was alone driving real fast. And this is almost exactly how the original sounded. Beautifully played, Sina, Ernie and Bolle!!!
It is always a good time for jazz and this is no exception. An excellent musical interpretation, the trio feels very good. I like it a lot when you play jazz Sina, because you use hit-hat a lot more. Great work and I hope to see the release of the third topic soon.

Sina, wow,,, that was amazing. After you did " Summer Salsa " I had a feeling you were going to open the door to the Jazz sector next. I liked " Summer Salsa" both versions are very impressive but this is Brilliant, I hope to see more of this soon. Thank You for doing this video really enjoyed it...Looks like you were having fun playing it too...
Cool Beans! Love it Miss Sina! I'm mostly a rock person, but also like some smooth jazz like this. This is why I'm a proud Patreon .. your variety! Well done Miss Sina! 😁🤘💕😎
👍✌💖 to everyone for keeping it very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable. On top of my daily dose of Burn I now have this to savour. Sina's versatility is a beautiful attribute to discover. Very well done all!
@@michaelyakson9953 Actually, her Jazz playing here is pretty poor. Not that she can't get better, but she's an excellent rock player. Jazz takes correct training - not a knock on her per se but with right technique, she would be an excellent drummer. Now, she's all-around 'ok.'
In Denmark we calling these for Bla bla and not for knocking at you at all -with the right skills ,we hopefully all can get better-IF we has to be the best--but bla bla better than shut up of course...in Denmark we also have those-if you cant says something kindly about other ,better shut up...does i need to say you acting like a bitch . somethere you has to start and can we all see how damn perfect you are StockMatusow ?
@StockMatusow I think Sina acquitted herself very well here. She kept really good time. Okay she's not yet a "true" jazz drummer but she also didn't do poorly. I mean just try doing an Airto, that is one tough gig man. If at all, I would simply advice Sina to try to find her own voice. A jazz drummer is not just a timekeeper. Notice how Airto sings with, as well as, makes his drums sing too. Singing makes the drums follow the rhythms of the heart. Sometimes a little fast, sometimes a little slow. Not like the steady beat of a drum machine. Also, Sina could play with rim shots more running into paradiddles. That would make her sound more jazzy. But she's young, let's allow her the freedom to find her own voice. I truly think she has the skills to be a true jazz drummer if she so wishes.
Srta. Sina Drums Golden Hands Si esos maestros permiten que tu estes en el grupo de Jazz es porque realmente eres buen Musico. Que Orfeo te de bendiciones. Desde Santiago de Chile un gran abrazo ,aplausos y gracias por video.
“In our little basement?” Eh, I would love to be living close to you Lady Sina, and you folks set up a mini pub in a corner of that basement, with a couple tables, and I could come and listen to you play, well anything really! Lol, I’m not a jazz listener normally, I like it, its just never been forward enough in my thoughts to do so until a time like this. This is awesome, but would be even more awesome for me if there was a sax in there somewhere 😬, you know how much I love a sax! Your amazing with your diversity!
Excellent job of a very hard piece to play. Very cool seeing Sina paying jazz. And what better piece than Chick Corea!! Wonderful...... Thanks for sharing it.
Wow! That was the coolest collaboration by far. I even had it looped as background music for a few rounds. You sounded like you've been jamming together for years. :)

I'm not a huge jazz fan, but it's very cool and relaxing hearing and watching this. Like it. Great start into the weekend.
+Tom B Smoke some weed and be on the same level as the old jazz musicians were when they played.
@@markschattefor6997 Weed may be an idea, not necessary.
All three musicians, So cool, thank you. Wonderful recording.
Awesome!!!! Jazz is my favorite music and it so wonderful to see you playing jazz.....
Sina you are so talented, keep up the great work...
Sina Bravo! honestly I did not really believe it and I was wrong !!!
Oh I do love Sina playing jazz. I do believe jazz is your home.
Sina, what a talented and versatile musician you are. Music is forever. I believe this song is more than two of your lifetimes old. And here you are playing it just as sweet as can be. Yep, you certainly are versatile. As usual, I wish all the best in the world for you.

Perfect to listen to on this Sunday night...don´t understand how to memorize this drums, impressive.
Experience---then move on to the next hurdle.
What an Absolute Treat...To My Ears!! Fantastic Sina....And The Entire Band!! AMAZING PERFORMANCE!!
That was a great rendition of that song. I liked how you mellowed it out from the original version. Fantastic performances by all and so tightly played. More jazz!

I love "Spain" since 1976 Al Jarreau version. This very good too.
Making 'Spain' into a vocalise was a masterwork from Jarreau. He is dearly missed.
My favorite song, played by my favorite girl-druuuuummmer.
You are all amazing .. Great that you found the 'correct' drummer for this piece. Thank you!
Wonderfully entertaining demonstration of skill.
Whoa, another memorable one for me! But I can't remember if the last time l listened to this was at a jazz bar or when I was alone driving real fast. And this is almost exactly how the original sounded. Beautifully played, Sina, Ernie and Bolle!!!

Great cover, Sina is perfect. Playing jazz shows how good you really are.

For anyone what ever instrument try to play that main theme in the melody correct.
If you can you are REALLY good.
She can play everything.
yes She,s not just good and a girl in age of 16-1 year-sorry something "wrong" here lol--amazing and going into the feets those jazzzzz
@@stockmatusow3092 Really?????????????????????
Very smooth and nicely done.
Wow, I love this music. Very good job Sina👍
Sina you guys are fantastic. Btw, loved your 50 ways to leave your lover(ala Steve Gadd).👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍
Are you telling me this is one continuous take? AMAZING!

Si esos maestros permiten que tu estes en el grupo de Jazz es porque realmente eres buen Musico.
Que Orfeo te de bendiciones.
Desde Santiago de Chile un gran abrazo ,aplausos y gracias por video.
• Sina & Jazz = Very Nice & Pleasant! Well Thank You! •
SINA, YOU ARE SOMETHING "SPECIAL"!!!
