- In this lesson we look at a few grooves from Roxanne by The Police. Stewart Copeland is anyways one of my favourite drummers but also the grooves are really special. The bass-drum doesn't start at the "one" for example. Or the fill-ins end not with a crash cymbal on the "one" like it happens in most of the grooves in pop-music.
I think you do two kick drum beats on the 8th notes along with one from the snare for the verses. Not just the snare by itself. It’s snare and kick drum together on the 8th note. Just saying
Yes I'm sure you are right. For example see this version which sounds note for note to me. ruclips.net/video/DOIbXofCEGE/видео.html
I thought the kick drum should be on 1and+2
You can explain well!
interesting. wish you could have broken down the total song with displacements. it's a tough song.
Excellent I can play better even if i dont undertand much english thank you😊
You didn't mention the flourish at the beginning, which is the only reason I watched this video.
Super erklärt, jetzt verstehe ich, warum meine HiHat immer so statisch klingt ...
Stewart Copeland is the best and he created so many great drum grooves with The Police! Great lesson Andreas.
Thank you 🙏 ... I absolutely agree.
I love Copeland a lot
Is there anyone who thought that the snare beat was the beat 1?
Awesome job!

Best lesson of this song I found. I was curious how those gaps were counted before coming back into the song. Thank you, subscribed!

And I must say: the drum set sounds fantastic! I can see it's a Sonor, could you say which model? and what snare and drumheads? Thank you.

For the love of God, stop saying “ to be honest…”
We expect you to be honest. That phrase doesn’t make any sense.
