  • In this lesson we look at a few grooves from Roxanne by The Police. Stewart Copeland is anyways one of my favourite drummers but also the grooves are really special. The bass-drum doesn't start at the "one" for example. Or the fill-ins end not with a crash cymbal on the "one" like it happens in most of the grooves in pop-music.

I think you do two kick drum beats on the 8th notes along with one from the snare for the verses. Not just the snare by itself. It’s snare and kick drum together on the 8th note. Just saying

Yes I'm sure you are right. For example see this version which sounds note for note to me. ruclips.net/video/DOIbXofCEGE/видео.html

You didn't mention the flourish at the beginning, which is the only reason I watched this video.

Is there anyone who thought that the snare beat was the beat 1?

Thank you for a beautiful lesson!
And I must say: the drum set sounds fantastic! I can see it's a Sonor, could you say which model? and what snare and drumheads? Thank you.

For the love of God, stop saying “ to be honest…”
We expect you to be honest. That phrase doesn’t make any sense.
