For the people wondering: M3gan was always meant to be an R-rated movie. The reason they changed the movie to a PG-13 rating is that once they showed M3gan dancing in the trailer, it started trending on Tik Tok with a bunch of teenagers. Because they realized a bunch of teenagers wanted to see the movie as well. They also realized that teenagers wouldn't be able to see an r-rated movie, so the studio asked the director to change the movie and make it PG-13 instead. The director agreed, as long as the studio agreed to eventually release the rated R version. And that's what happened.
Kids are going to watch something, then that's what they'll do choose if you agree with it or not the R rating can be watched accompanied by an adult the NC -17 rating is different adults only
yeah the unrated is more realistic but come on we don't need to see blood spraying everywhere and all that crap I never understood why everyone's always watching horror movies for the gore. I watch them for the scares, thrills and the suspense but a horror movie is not a horror movie with out gore.
Bruh. I don't wanna treat M3gan nicely. She deserved her "demise." It was satisfying and awesome because of her kills that made me feel bad for the victims. But I guess maybe you're saying that one shouldn't mess with M3gan cuz of how dangerous she is which I agree with. But what if you have to save your own life? I don't think M3gan is respecting. She betrayed Cady at the end.
@@hunterofcamas9090 Unless someone fixed and reprogrammed her family friendly, including becoming a gourmet chef, repair woman, and driving instructor makes me think as an alternative.
Both versions are good - but the unrated is definitely the superior version in my opinion. In fact I would've wanted them to go even further than they did in the unrated in terms of gore. I also would like to see M3GAN have a higher body count in the sequel.
she gave David the same smirk/half smile right before she starts to dance. But the look she gives him when he says: "...even the ones who DON'T have dead parents."
Doubt it. The movie made approximately over 70 million dollars, which is a shit ton for a January release. So it probably won't be released as an R. I could see the use of one fuck like they do in Tremors and maybe have PG 13 gore though.

Idk why but for the elevator scene with Curt I actually like the PG-13 build up. In this version M3GAN just cuts his throat...it's not as good as when she grabs his hand and makes him grab the blade then shoves it into his throat. It built the suspense. Here she just did it.
Yeah they should of kept that and how does she slash from the other side then his neck is slashed from the other side which doesn't make sense also with the PG-13 one but Its okay.
@@Direct2Media That also shows her strength as it takes a lot of strength to force him to hold the blade and the point is to make the whole thing look like a murder suicide which a sliced throat never is.
And also M3gan puts his fingerprints on the blade, making a murder suicide seem more plausible. Gorier makes more impact visually, but the handling of that scene is better in PG-13
Honestly, I thought the unrated version would be a lot gorier and way more violent but this is just a bit bloodier and a little more violent. I actually don't mind this version though. I honestly might buy the DVD just to see this version as it's not available on iTunes (I have the movie on iTunes but it's the PG13 version). I saw the movie in theatres and really enjoyed it. I think I didn't like is that when she was in the showroom floor I thought we get to see her go on a killing spree but unfortunately that did not happen
I would’ve liked the theatrical film better had it been rated R. The bloody violence, even the swearing, gives a usually blasé horror movie concept like this a unique identity
1:50 honestly the way he dies in the pg-13 version makes more sense because it looks like he’s the murderer and then killed himself which was why Megan gave that blackmail monologue in the first place. The R-rated version kind of defeats the purpose.
I think that the gore isn’t necessarily needed. It’s actually a bit more disturbing thinking of what the spray did to that woman. However the cursing works much better and I wish it was in all cuts of the movie.
I don't think either work better. Leaving the gore out creates more suspense and F bombs are just so unnecessary. Especially since the RUclips who voices M3gan is such a polite woman in real life.
