My daughter was an exchange student from the US to AIU. She liked it so much that after she returned and graduated, she applied and was accepted into the graduate program. Two more years at AIU. She achieved a master’s degree in Global Communication Practices. I got to visit AIU for the graduation and was really impressed with the university. Congratulations on your time there.
yayyy I finally got to watch this just now :'D awesome vlog amy~ i still get mindblown when i see that clip with yangchen and you on selfie mode and then the camera just floating away..
I hope that in the next years I can start my studies in AIU, seems to far now but I hope so, for your experience looks like its an amazing place~ c': ❤
Apart from all the cool stuff about Japan, twas great to see all those cameos of ppl I knew, and ppl I didn't! All those relationships... Made me want to visit Northern Honshu too!
Oh how exciting!!! You will LOVE it! I stayed in Komachi Hall and will also be back visiting Akita/AIU in September, so maybe I'll see you around! Have a wonderful time enjoying one of the best cities in the world! x
Noooooo waaaay, I'm 17, turning 18, I'm graduating soon, and studying abroad in Japan seems unreal! I'm from Canada and "This video is not available." if this is an error on your part please fix! I'm dying to watch this.
Does watching on your laptop instead of a mobile device help? Or watching with a VPN set to a different country perhaps? So sorry, I have no idea how to fix it :(
Akita is an option I have for my study abroad in 2020, alongside Osaka, Kobe, Fukaoka and and Kumamoto (Those are the ones I'm considering and then there's Tokyo & Nagoya, both of which I've visited before, and like but wouldn't want to live there). Osaka is my safest bet because it's the only other I've been to and can see myself liking living there BUT I would love somewhere a bit more... local? I guess? My only problem with that is that I'm a mature student and have a partner (who will be applying for a working holiday visa/JET) I wonder who easy it will be for him to find a job in a place like Akita compared to Osaka which is more international...? I'm going to have to look more deeply into it.
It was through ANU Global Programs (the program is called Learning Language Locally). They gave us a little bit of money but it was mostly out of our own pockets :)
Hey Amy, I was wondering how you had time to study abroad for a bit while aspiring to be a Vet. What do you major in in Uni? I want to become a pediatrician but also want to study Japanese. 😀
Hi there! I am currently studying a Bachelor of Languages at ANU, majoring in Japanese Language and minoring in Japanese Linguistics and Chinese Language. Studying abroad was through my degree. To fulfil the vet dream, I've been working at a vet and studying my vet nursing qualification via distance education alongside uni. It's hard work, but it's been very satisfying as I love both languages and vet! I will be graduating from ANU this year and will go on to study a vet degree after. It does mean I will be in uni for a total of 9 years, but it will be worth it! What's 9 years of my life in the grand scheme of things hey? Japanese and all languages in general are super useful in any career, so I'd recommend you take the leap! If you'd like to ask more questions, feel free to tweet me on twitter or message me on Instagram (@xamyshix). Good luck!
I had never considered it before, but after falling in love with Akita, I'm debating whether or not to eventually move there in the future, or maybe even for my post graduate studies!

were those trips offered by the studying abroad program? or did you pay money out of your own pocket to travel?

Such a cute vlog! Do you want to live in Japan eventually?
I had never considered it before, but after falling in love with Akita, I'm debating whether or not to eventually move there in the future, or maybe even for my post graduate studies!
