Pode-se dizer que a Al Jazeera produziu uma versão resumida e atualizada do documentário britânico "Beyond Citizen Kane" (Channel 4 1993) que escancarou a televisão comercial no Brasil e a sua influência política sobre os brasileiros.
Amazing and great coverage on this issue, you will never get this type of coverage on any of the major news organizations in the U.S, thank you Al Jazeera.
Thank you Aljazeera for this journalistic reporting that seems to have been ignored and so vitally important today. If this came out a year earlier, maybe the country could have avoided some the pains it is facing today.
TV is regulated by the Brazilian Constitution on articles 220 - 224 buut.. the problem is that nobody follows it. In Brazil most rules aren't supervised and fulfilled. I can say, I'm lawyer here.. I suffer this everyday.
I had an idea about Brazilian life, but not to this scope or scale. Here in th U.S. sad to say its just about the same. No white nationals after September.
Some of the comments here are telling example of the effects of the ideological monopoly discussed in Al Jazeera's piece. Social communication in Brazil is dominated by (conservative) corporate infotainment. The only outlets doing serious, investigative and adversarial journalism are left-wing blogs and web portals like OutrasPalavras, Viomundo, TheIntercept Brazil, OperaMundi and Carta Capital
Will Aljazeera please dedicate a special edition of The Listening Post on the decreasing media diversity in the world's fourth most populous nation as well? Lots of potentials in that coverage (e.g. the Broadcast bill set to replace the current Broadcast Law)
Since they ousted their women present Brazil has gone str8 down financially, which is not saying much when they were already going down. Yes, Brazil is very racists towards most of their OWN PEOPLE of color with the greatest ease.
Ajinkya Gadgil all news medias are biased. But not at that level. I wonder if you'd say the same thing if this documentary was reported by any Indian news network
Ajinkya Gadgil Nobody is saying that Al Jazeera is unbiased. But the analysis the report offers is quite accurate. Any well informed and honest Brazilian will agree on that.
“Brazil...the last in the World to abolish slavery.” Liar. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia abolished slavery in 1960. This was skipped by the fact-checkers of Al Jazeera. I wonder why.
Excellent video!!! That is exactly how it is, racist conservative opportunistic! REGULATIONS REGULATIONS!!! They CAN NOT continue to do as they please!
Too bad you don't have a version of this report in Brazilian Portuguese. By the way portuguese is the 6th language most spoken in the world and unfortunately they don't speak English nor Spanish. Do you want to make a difference? Have translated into portuguese ASAP.
I disagree with that part when it's said that black people hasn't been included. Au contraire, in recent years there has been a great debate over including people of various origins and styles. And the claims that Globo is far conservative is dubious because a lot of conservative people anger about Globo including LGBT people in programes and themes not so conservative like racial quotas
Yeah, as I said in another comment this reporter tried to make a very biased video. First he only interviewed people with famously left wing views, then they said globo called people to protest against the elected government when people were organizing themselves through social media before globo's coverage. He also implied it was a coup, but never mentioned the widespread corruption and economic ineptitude of that government. A very unfortunate video, but I think it's down to the reporter's views not the whole channel.
Oh come now AJ, more regulation does not equal better media lol there's enough in this piece to not need to embellish. Pretty ironic that you're sensationalizing a piece on sensationalized journalism... As journalists lol
The story did not say more regulation equals better media. It said Brazil has NO regulation. Tell me one other country that has no regulation. Just one.
As this documentary went on, my salute for its unbiased report diminished. This documentary eventually concentrated on Black vs White...an ugly racist slur the world needs to not utter too much or often, c'mon slavery was over in the last 100 years and since then Blacks are still at it stating how underpriviledged and unfair things are for them yet in the same breath theyre basking in the limelight banking on that unfair tag to elevate themselves to the top. Please dont double-standard and play the game fairly. Just like you've been ased to be treatef fairly on merit and not about your skin colour or heritage. So act like a fair person and stop whining. It makes a double-standard fool of yourself and what people have come to accept and respect you for!

Aljazeera got it all right!
Lu Geiger Absolutely right.
That "bleaching" culture is common not only in Brazil, but in India and in some African countries too we can see it
You're right
True
Globo é um esgoto aqui no Brasil !

Why should we Brazilians care about Al Jazzera?

Other interesting point is that they say the current govern has cut the allowance and budgeds of Globo and other televisions stations
the current governmente gave all the budgeds to the Record TV station, the evengelical television, which supports Bolsonaro since his campaign.
and in 2023 just check who is hand in hand with GLOBO?

That trip to Brazil forget it. Sahara Desert seems more decent now.

Lol! As if al Jazeera is unbiased and doesn't endorse any religion

Kristopher Driver You don't seem to know Brazil at all. And as far as Brazil is concerned you seem to have missed the boat.
