As a potential F Type owner, I am very appreciative of these videos.
you take alot of the anxiety of owning a expensive Jag out of the equation by breaking down the common issues of these great cars.
I appreciate that! Thank you 🙏🏼
Dude.. your F-type videos are ridiculously helpful. I’ve been watching them randomly since last year when I was shopping for an F-type and since then bought a 2015 R. The car only has $6k miles on it but I’ve taken notes on everything from these videos. It’s so difficult to find quality info on what to look out for, results of a tune, etc.. especially on the same make model and year. Better believe I’ll be checking my differential breather. Seriously man I really appreciate these videos.
Just purchased my very own white F-Type V8 S Convertible. Your videos are very informative, and I really appreciate them.
I appreciate that, congrats on the car!
Appreciate you making these niche video. It may not get lot of views but certainly life saver for f type owners. Thanks once again!!
Appreciate it brother!
Skrrt Garage Hey Connor did You fix the leaking diff ?
Again, nice job young man. I will take this up with my local Jaguar dealer next month when we do warranty walk through on the car.
Right on, thanks Jeff!
Nice one Conner keep them coming mate.
Appreciate it brother! Thanks dave
youve def helped inform me about what i need to look for when looking for an f type. ive been trying to find a specific spec but damn these cars are hard to find in my area lol! look forward to more videos man!
I appreciate that Ben! These cars are amazing, let me know what you end up getting.
Skrrt Garage I will for sure. I'll be starting a Channel myself. Will be a fragrance Channel/jag channel
Sensible and informative advice from first hand experience from someone that is happy to get involved in the diagnosis of the problem as that is what costs the money then all you have to do is pay the dealer the 2 hours labour to fix it not the 3 hours diagnosis they would like to have charged on top
Good work you handsome dentist and you even have my partner watching you , she does drive a convertible white F type 3.0 S with a red roof so I am sure it's just for the Jag tips
Thanks for the comment Richard! I appreciate it
Another great informative video. Going to jack up the car tomorrow to take a look.
Awesome! Appreciate the comment!
Brilliant as always, thanks
Thanks!
My local Jag dealer quoted £1,500. Got it done for £400 from a very good specialist
The Pinion seal is only a few dollars but you have to take the exhaust off to get at them - Time to consider upgrading to some SVR titanium ones.
Good to see you are keeping an eye on your F Type they are easy fixes and for a 550 Bhp these vehicle are very cheap to maintain.
I can't wait for your pinion fix video 👌
Agreed, they really are. Just trying to help others make sure their breather is cleaned!
@@skrrtgarage3922 You are doing a great job
Thanks for the heads up. Will go and have a look at that breather. Keep up with the good work. 18 R. 68 E
Appreciate it Randal! Quite the combo you have 🙏🏼
As always great info for F-type owners. Mine is going in next week for power deck lid not working, and the famous exhaust tuning actuators not working. Scares me to even let someone touch my car without knowing them. I guess I’m just pickie with my car
I appreciate that, I am the same way. I feel like no one cares more about my car then myself. I’m sure a dealer will take good care of you though.
Great video, cleaned out the differential breather on my F-Type but lost the cap in the process…
What do you think, would it be a problem if i won’t install a new one?
Same type of problems on some Land Rover models especially the LR3 where the diff breather filter will get clogged. Well known issue in the LR forums. Some have fixed this by replacing the breather with a more robust unit, replacing the fluid and adding AT205 Re-seal to the diff. This will soften (condition the seals) and stop the leak. This method is only helpful if no damage has occurred to the diff. It's a quick and dirty fix, but it works if caught early enough.
Been wondering if this would work. Is it a good solution though as most oil stop leak additives state that they are absolutely not to be used in wet clutch environments as they have a detrimental effect on clutch materials. Is this the case for the F Type rear diff? Cant seem to find if the clutch pack on the e diff is wet or dry. Does anyone know?
Cheers
Great video man. Ty
Appreciate it man!
@@skrrtgarage3922 My f type only has 8000 ish miles on it but I am definitely going to look at that breather cap next time I'm on my buddies lift with the car.
Thanks for the tip for sure. I look at videos like this as saving me money down the road - so much appreciated!!
Good luck in the dentistry world brother!
For sure man, that’s smart! I wish I would have known to look. Thank you brother!
Hi Skrrrt , did You fix the leaking diff ? Have this same problem in my V6s awd
This is what I am dealing with now. Got 2 quotes for around $750-795. Will check with one more place. Wish I found this video before I started driving the car. At the end of the day its not a horrible cost for the repair.
I have a 2015 type R. Cleaned the breather cap yesterday after watching video. The exhaust system seems to have more crackle and pops in it.
That’s awesome man, glad your taking care of the car!
If I may add some to the discussion - the cap to the breather is on VERY loose. If you accidentally knock it off and it gets stuck somewhere ... get a blower / compressed air and start shooting under the car and it should hopefully drop out. That's what happened to me today. Again, it's not held on by any threads ...just three small notches.
Great video. Im concerned that the zip tie will be pushing grit and dirt into the diff though?
Theoretically you would be just pushing the contents of what was already in there back in. So if you are worried about it, then start with the cleaning of the breather then do your oil change.
Also, the drain cap has a magnet to catch any extra debris
Hey. I just wanna know how many times do you have to fix things. Do you do repairs often. By the way I don’t plan on drifting my car or racing I just like the look and wanna get from A-B
I feel like I never have to fix/work on the f type. If you just drive from point a to b you’ll most likely not have any issues. That being said, weird things could happen that cause issues
Hi Skirt, I was watching your video and you said that's when driving the car hard and breather is clogged that's what leads to the pinion seal failure, I have 2015 XJR and it had the pinion seal replaced under warranty by the previous owner, is that a definite sign that the car was driven to its limit?
Yes and no, I feel like these pinion seals are pretty weak on Jaguars. Overall seals on cars are maintenance items, meaning they were never meant to last forever. So to answer your question, it’s possible but it’s also possible that they were just unlucky
is this diff issue only on the rwd or awd as well?im looking at 2016+
It can be on both, it’s something just to check once and forget about it
hi skrrt.
I am looking into buying a 2014 jaguar f type s V8 with 60,000 miles on it. I am getting a great deal for around 30,000 USD. I am from Saudi Arabia and I have looked at all your videos and I really appreciate your helpful guides on what to look for before buying the car. However, is there anything else I should loo for? I am planning to install velocity AP tune on it with the pulley to get the 495 HP V8s to 600HP. Do you know any other tuners who might be better?
Velocity is the best by far in my opinion, I’m going to be installing mine next week. If you watch all videos of DIY’s you’ll have a great understanding of the car.
Nice vid! Are the dealers replacing with a more durable seal or a newly designed breather that doesn’t get clogged? 4-800 ain’t that terrible; I was expecting worse! Do you know if the RWD V6 has this same diff?
To my knowledge they are just replaced the same seal and may/may not be checking the breathers. Yea 400-800 isn’t bad, but if it goes undiagnosed it turns into a new differential..the v6 “s” does, the base v6 has one very similar
Skrrt Garage good to know! Happen to know if the V6 base seems to have the same issue? I have an XE 35t...not sure if it has the same diff but 40k miles does far...kinda scared to look under lol
Every car is probably a little different, but I would definitely check!
Appreciate this share as an F Type owner, but certainly don't see myself undertaking this ! what is the mileage of your car that this seal failed ? Why would the seal fail ? take the average sedan for example (Honda !) which can go up to 200,000kms (+150,000 miles) with no differential problems.
All of that info is in this video and in a previous video I made about the differential. The car has 38k miles, but it can happen much sooner.
Seals fail from too much internal pressure or high milage. Mine broke because the “breather tube” was clogged and the diff had too much internal pressure
I could have sworn the mirror in my mouth at the Dentist tasted like ROyal Purple. Now i know why.
Hahah
Do you know if In the AWD I need to check rear as well as the front valve?
It wouldn’t hurt to check the front also!
Skrrt Garage true!! :)
It happened to my f type R . Thank God it was under cpo warranty
That’s lucky! Wish I had that warranty right now lol
Love the dental correlation lol
Hah is funny
Lol it seemed fitting
It worked!
“Patent” ... nice!
Did you go to working length? ;) haha
Looks like you found the sinus tract!
Whats your pulpal and periapical diagnosis?
Id have to say looks like it might be reversible pulpitis with chronic apical abscess. Which is impossible in a human but highly likely in a diff.
Hahahah I was waiting for your comment 😂
Nice vid. When you pull up the list and shots of the special tools required you made the correct observation---very expensive. That said if you are a member of the Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA) or a patron of the Coventry Foundation (www.coventryfoundation.org) you may borrow factory tools for the cost of shipping.
Wow that’s awesome, I had no idea! Thanks for the advice
to save me looking, has anyone here told him how to use jackstands?....that just looks like a fatal accident waiting to happen.
but love your videos 😜
Yea sometimes I trust my jacks too much
@@skrrtgarage3922 please dont
@@skrrtgarage3922 Just because nobody seems to have said it here: If you use jack stands like this, they could fail. If a seal fails on a jack, the car will drop in a fraction of a second, and the jack stands might shift under the falling car and not support it properly.
You're supposed to use the jack stands to support the car by lowering the car onto the jack stands before working on it. You can still leave a jack there as an extra safety feature, but the car is supposed to be resting securely on the jack stands when you're underneath it.
It's already an older video, so maybe this isn't new to you anymore, but for anyone reading this, please learn how to use jacks stands correctly.
First have a good weekend
Thanks man! Appreciate it!
All F-Type videos are sexy regardless lol
Lol this is true!
Sorry, it went to the spell checking and written it as Skirt as I typed it initially Skrrt

Yea I got the seal replaced and it’s been great ever since
Skrrt Garage what was the cost ?
$320
@@skrrtgarage3922 Hi. Did the dealer charge $320? Thank you for these videos.
