Been painting birds photorealistically for many years and must say you are very good. I start with the tail and work to the head as the feathers fall on the body.
I've been thinking about blocking in panels with acrylics (like MJS does nowadays) vs blocking in with oils (like MJS apparantly did in the past): Acrylics have a different texture full of microscopic holes, and will easier receive a second layer of oil paint even with stiffer brushes like hogs, compared to if the underlayer is oil as well where the second layer will have a harder time to adhere as easily as with acrylic block ins. Is the difference very noticeable adherence-wise if block in is with oil instead of acrylics? If so, does one have to use only the softest synthetic brushes if blocking in panels in oil?
Beautiful Robin. Such delicate detail. Thank you for making this and all your videos and for the new school. Looks like this picture took about a zillion brush strokes. If I may ask, how long did it take for you to paint this beauty? LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your art.

Don't worry, they fly south to Florida and spend winter competing with the local birds for food in the fields.
The UK robin does not migrate. They are very different from the American robin.
