Which then begs the question is the concept religious, spiritual, or...? One of the most difficult things to do when it comes to anything the least bit spiritual or esoteric is tracking its origins since Christianity is based on assimilation: oh, your community was wiped out by flooding? That's because Jehovah was sickened by mankind's evil ways! You have a winter solstice celebration marking the midway point to the return of the longer days? That's the day our Saviour was born - hallelujah, let us rejoice!!! It is quite frustrating because I would love to learn of the original beliefs so as to form my own thoughts and opinions instead of blindly accepting what faith tells me I must. I don't hate Christianity, I am just exhausted by its intrusive nature
As far as I know, every religion is a mixture of what people used to believe and what is/was new. Christianity has also integrated a lot from previous religions: myths, names, dates of holidays. "Everything flows."
