Good luck Ben. Do one thing when your back here, stay off the news. Depressing mate. Countries in a bad state. Get your head down and cherish your time with family and friends 💙
The one thing that makes Thais so lovely they generally see things as they are, not how you Want to see them… hence no stress of wanting it different. Like your house build.
Hi Ben, just subscribed to your channel. I think it's gonna be cool. Have a good time going back to the UK; hopefully all will be fine there. Well, don't take too long before coming back to Thailand; looking forward to seeing your next videos here.. Take care, cheers 😊🙏
I agree going back to the UK can be expensive if you are going back and working and knowing in the back of your mind that you are only there for a few months you can work with a smile on your face
OMG when the video was titled skint I thought that you were selling up! So pleased that you are not! Great film and great to hear how things are planning out. Good lick with your job in the UK and hope you get back to thiland soon.
Thank you for the nice video!! The dogs grow quickly. When you return to the UK, don't forget to put your battery on a trickle charger or it will be dead. Greetings from Holland and Khonkaen
Hi Ben. Have enjoyed your videos. Possible you can do a Q & A? I have lots of questions like how did you find the land? What’s your day to day activity? Do u stock fish in that pond? Thanks
You got to tread very carefully, I been doing this for past few years as IT contractor ,sometimes they ask to stay another 3 months (as they were just testing if you are the right candidate), sometimes they contact you again after you return to Thailand. The finance, greed, costs, managing everyone s expectations, changing countries drains you down and confused . You don’t feel the same anymore for either of the countries. So tread carefully
The water in your pond is looking nice and clear. Best of luck in the UK… in my personal opinion Thailand is much better, but I totally understand your reasons. I also love your land and house, looks so lovely and peaceful.
Oh thanks for that, and I agree - Thailand is my fave place too, my home now. My selfish little brother and all of our family refused to travel all the way over here to celebrate his bday though. So I have to fly back 😅
@@LifeinThailand777 🤣 he might be addicted to Thailand as well if he came here. Best of luck Ben, may you achieve everything you were set out to do there. 🙏
Good luck to you Ben. You’ve built the dream. Go back earn enough money that can sustain you for 2 or maybe 3 years living where you are. Even if you did it every year, you’ll be getting yourself further ahead for 3 months work.
You might be pleasantly surprised at the moment for prices of flights.I am going the other way Ireland to Thailand for a very short break and the return price was less than 500 euro..Last time it was more than 1200
We fly out from Manila in a couple of hours Ben, heading back to eleven and a half months work before we can come back here to the Philippines. When you've had enough of cooking, and you want to chuck the tea towel in, remember that some of us have many more months than you before they can return to where they are genuinely happy. We've had a great time with perfect weather, and it makes it worse to have to go back to the grey. Chin up Ben and enjy the change of scenery.
Crikey! Big news. Off to England eh? Look forward to seeing your videos from there, while your working. Something different for your vlog. Bit depressing back there, but at least you get to see family and friends. And you'll be there in the Summer months.
Good talk, the dogs are getting big now they will miss you. Looking forward to your videos in the UK my son wants to be a chef so they should be interesting. Do you still swim in the pond ?
i thought of recently going back to get some pocket money i have bn offered a few jobs, been here nearly 2 yrs ,im just not ready yet lol,i actually dread going back its on its arse, recently joined the gym in nblp, got a personal goal to achieve and a restoration on me camper to finish then maybe ,,,see but lol maybe noo lol good luck going back ben ,atleast you have it all set up now to come back too.
I think you should prepare yourself for a cost of living shock when you come back to the UK. I am in the UK, and I have seen the cost of living increase substantially since I come back from Thailand.
Year and a half and we move over to travel for a few years! We are earning the cash in Aussy then can live the life in Asia for a few years. Originally from London. Hopefully catch up for a beer one day!
I do the same as you now. i'm 52 so a bit older than you but if work comes up I will go and do two or three months and that's me covered for the year. My main rule is not to work in the UK though. That place puts me on a downer.
I am taking my family back this year for the first time. I dont have a house there and want to tour a bit. For a family of 3 in July for 3 weeks I reckon it's gonna cost 10-12k. Seems nuts given what I could do instead with that money. But I've not been back since 2018
I’m totally with you, once you’re accustomed to the cost of living in Thailand, it’s defo a shock to return to the Uk. (Apart from cheese) 🤣 I would struggle to justify the cost of the trip if I did it without the work. I’m lucky that I have an industry that can provide a roof over my head. If I were an office worker it’d be a different story I guess. Plus you have your family to consider, it’ll be good for them to see a different culture, Anyway enjoy your trip 🙏
Good luck in Blighty Ben. I'm looking forward to the vlogs. I keep having old bosses calling me up to go back and work in Texas. 6 months on, 6 months off. I just can't find the motivation. 😂😂😂😂 I've done the calculations numerous times. If you need to pay for short term accommodation, flights, food etc. plus I'd have to buy new clothes, shoes etc. I'm just not sure that it's worth it. Good for you with the job in the hotel. It probably comes with the uniform too.

Just a question / concern about your "grey water" which includes soaps / shower gells / detergents - wont they possibly hurt the farm and organics due to the chemcials. Unless of course you are using all natural / organic cleaners / soaps. just a thought and open to being corrected!
Look forward to the trip. Please video the journey from the farm until you arrive in the uk. Question, do you need the money? How long could you afford to live in Thailand if you never worked again?
I earn money from an online business but it’s very up and down. I could not afford to never work again, at least not for the next few years as we still have a few yrs mortgage left on a property in Spain. I guess once that’s paid off it’s easier. Our living expenses in Thailand are very low, but it’s still nice to have money in the bank 🤣

TBH I think we’ve been quite lucky, timeline aside. There’s a few little bits that really we should have mentioned in the final walk through, but we were so desperate to get moved in, we were happy to let a couple things slide. That said, I wouldn’t build a house here again 🤣
Agreed and even I am not in Thailand yet (in next 3 years is the full time move), I am worried about house build or better say about Thai builders. As far as I saw on youtube, only " Thai Girl Gift and Foreigner Joe" builder was spot on, the house was done in 6 months with high quality work. This being said, wife and I came with a plan, might change by the time we move in Thailand, buy a knock down house (later will be used as a guest house) first, big enough (6m x 6m) to have a decent living and after starting to build the house on my own with some local help, will be dome house, built with high quality oven brick, very tick walls. Wife and her family did a research in the area and it's impossible to find anyone that can build a brick dome😁, than here I am, studying (I am mechanical engineer - no construction background, but very handy) how to build with brick, and before starting the house, play around with brick, like building pizza oven and a gazebo next to pond and so on, I definitely trust myself with no building skills than Thai builders, or I will be so happy with knock down house and just buy another one for me and done 🤣
Yeah, although I think a friend will stay with her in the house, just for peace of mind. Especially as now anybody who watches my videos will know I’m not lurking in the shadows at 2am with my rifle 😅
As long as I don’t earn more than about the £10k mark then there’s no tax to pay on it, as it’s under my yearly allowance. Obviously if I repeat the whole process again at the end of the year then it’ll be taxable.
@@LifeinThailand777 So you are self employed then otherwise you would pay tax and have to claim it back. Tax kicks in at first pay packet on PAYE and its then adjusted to take account of your personal allowance.
