@@mottosierra1372 - on top of genius, i was speaking to a lead singer of one of the bands Clink did produced in 1990 i believe, He said Mike was Just a Sweet, Great guy.
I always thought Duff would get a better bass eventually . Those Japanese Fenders from the 80s in that series were usually regarded as cheesy but I will give the guy credit for his loyalty to staying with them instead of jumping ship when he virtually could have played any bass after the success of GnR's debut album. I think if anything his decision to be with the same bass put that series on the map as something with more credibility because they were really just basses a beginner would use and Duffs tone using the PJ and pick so prominently in the mix is a great testament as to what these basses were really capable of. I gotta give the guy props.
He has his own signature model now based off those MIJ PJ's. shop.fender.com/en-US/electric-basses/precision-bass/duff-mckagan-precision-bass/0146500323.html
I guess it's like Paul McCartney sticking with the Hofners. I know he played Rickenbackers and other basses, but he came back to the Hofner. I guess the instrument works for the player.
@@SaturnsChildRecordings ya, u can not undermine that point regardless of an instruments value or quality appeal for the player means alot. In retrospect that series line of Fender basses were really pretty solid for being a kind of cheaper entry level axe. Duff really put credibility into that bass single handedly really. They were out for a while mostly in the hands of beginners and the average joe. And then all of a sudden BAM appetite dropped and that bass was all over the radio and visable on television constantly. The other thing interesting to your comment about Paul and his hofner is that both basses were unique in sound sonically as cheaper instruments with some different key tonal points that set them both aside from the more popular tried and true basses of the day.
Well Duff looked enthusiastic and excited to be getting his own toneprint. You could see Tor was completely comfortable with the fact that Duff really wanted to be there. Oh and if we really want the sound of the appetite bass we can get it right there in a corona chorus.
In order to sound like Duff, just get an old Ibanez chorus pedal. For a much cheaper pedal, get a very simple chorus pedal the TC Electronic Afterglow is far closer than this. The Afterglow is based on early 80s pedals, i.e. early Ibanez pedals.
En cuestión de habilidad, Duff es minimalista, hace lo q debe hacer. Pero en cuestión del sonido de su bajo, simplemente es un sonido único. Así q concuerdo totalmente
Love my Corona chorus, super versatile pedal and sounds very lush, still haven't even digged into the toneprint editor btw need to download the latest version.

Duff was probably just jet-lagged or something. He’s a stand up guy as far as I can tell. Yeah he probably doesn’t care for the chorus at all because he’s very committed to his gear (Ibanez CS9).
Yeah, he's a bit of a tool. I'm still gonna download it, so when I have to play that frikkin' song, I can have the right tri-chorus. I'll probably have more uses for Uriah's and Nathan's, though...
Locomotive at the beginning! One of my favorite GN'R songs!
That sounded awesome! Never heard it on its own, not a regularly played tune.
One of my favorites too!
Outstanding number.
Locomotive! So complex, such genius
What a debut album. Duff is pure genius on Appetite for Destruction. And to think they were so young when they made that. Love Duff's sound.
And came from a punk band

Duff, you're the man!!!
Duff is not playing like other showoff bass players, he is straight to the point and serious on what he does
So beautiful bass. Intro "Locomotive" sounds really cool. Thanks!!!
