  • Here's the final drums (unmixed) for the JTJ song 'Lion Dance'. This is the first one recorded to a click track, and I think I did okay. The only things I changed were a few cymbal (ride and crash) flams with the bass drum. I think I sometimes rush on the bottom half of my body, and drag on the top...not all the time, but that's the way it goes when I do!
I've sculpted out some velocity issues by dragging notes to a louder volume state to correct the occasional miss-hit, and the cross stick sections were copied and pasted from the snare line to the cross-stick line, to make it easier to play for the recording. The snare pad doesn't have rim-shot or cross-stick zones, and although I've put the cross-stick sound on the rear zone of the crash cymbal, for this song it's too hard to access it accurately at speed.
The VST I'm using is Handy Drums as usual, playing the Studio Standard kit, and I recorded into FL Studio 20.
For reference, a live version of 'Lion Dance' can be heard here: • JTJ, Session #52, Card...
