Audio's screwed up and there's a cropping issue. No way to fix it without spending hours re-editing it and losing all the views. Sorry this episode isn't up to par.
I haven't watched the episode yet, but I wanted to share a story with you guys: Moon Knight has a very special, and possibly unique, role in my life. When I was 20, I was headed far out of town for a special experimental procedure for a rare condition I have. I was new to comics and wanted some light reading for the trip, so I went to my LCBS and asked the man behind the counter for recommendations. He suggested the first volume of Ellis' Moon Knight, so I bought it and read it during my hospital stay. I have loved the character ever since and this volume was the second one I got. I will never forget my experience with that book. Thanks for covering Moon Knight and for everything else you do. If you read this, thank you for that too. Take care!
Very similar story for me, only it was the early 80s and it was a Marvel Summer Special with Moon Knight in it, and a west coast Avengers issue also with Moon Knight. Three decades later I only need about 30 more comics to have every single issue he's been in.
I love studying Egyptian folklore so we can kinda explain this 3-4 year old video. Khonsu is a real god from Egyptian folklore. It is a God of the Moon, but also the God you pray to for safe passage when travelling at night.
I love Sal's story at the beginning of how everyone he meets is trying to get him into Moon Knight, and Sal just keeps gently and kindly shutting them down. XD
Moon Knight is easly one of the most UNDERRATED superheroes ever. Doesn't get the attention he deserves. His comics have pushed boundaries and been some of the best in the biz run after run. MK attracts such talented writers and artists.
I really love how each combination of folks on the couch brings something different yet still entertaining. Plus, the occasional back stories behind some of the swag like the Moon Knight poster are a real treat.
I agree that it’s never been better to be a moon knight fan. I’ve been a fan since 2001 and these last few years we have had moon knight funko pops, actions figures, amazing talent on the title, and potential Netflix series coming!
So glad to see Moon Knight finally make it on Back Issues. He's been a favorite character of mine ever since they started adding the psychological aspects to his character. As someone who's dealt a bit with mental health issues as well as currently going to school to work in Psychology, the character has meant a lot to me. I really hope we get to see more of him in the future.
I've never heard of this show or seen a single episode, but I heard that you guys did an episode of Moon Knight and so here I am! He's my favorite Marvel character ever. I'm so glad you guys covered him. This character has so much potential.

Oh my God!! I'm so glad they're finally doing a Moon Knight book. I really hope this gets the views they need so that they can eventually do Warren Ellis's Moon Knight.
@joe mcnoe It's kind of written like a police procedural show. Where every episode in the season is its own crime, but overall the series follows one mystery/crime.
I could be remembering it wrong, but I swear it began with kidnappings and ended with him finding a kidnapped girl being held by a bunch of thugs for ransom. Because I remember the last issue I think being nearly wordless and just panel for panel him going into the house kicking the ever-loving shit out of every thug and finally rescuing the girl. Kind of like a comic book version of a single take fight scene with no cuts.
@@Grievousish Like I said I can't remember it exactly. I haven't read it since it first came out and I have it in floppies stashed away. All I remember for sure is that Warren Ellis only did one volume I think and then Cullen Bunn and Brian Wood took it over after him and did volumes 2 and 3.
I've read every Moon Knight solo and Huston is one of the best runs. Lemire is the peak for me but this run and Bemis are not far behind. Also JMS wrote a solid issue that no one talks about thats part of this run at least in trade. Excited to dig into this.

I'm a Moon Knight fan. The original Doug Moench run is actually really good, in a pulpy kind of way. And you get Bill Sienkiewicz on art for a large portion of it.
This episode was a fun and wild ride! I'm glad you guys decided to do it. I don't idolize the character of Moon Knight, but his stories have been excellent, at least what I've read.
As a lifelong moonknight fan at 32 I can say yes it’s never been a better time. This book was my first experience with the character. And after I tracked down all his back issues
I recently read this book because it was free on Comixology and I wanted to get more familiar with the character before starting the show. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The image at 9:23 gave me a legit flashback. One of the first issues I ever owned was the issue with that image. I completely forgot I've EVER owned a moon knight comic.
A couple of years ago I got Marvel Unlimited and started reading through all the old events and highly praised runs of characters. Moon Knight was a character that I was somewhat aware of and I always loved his costume. This arc was the first thing I read of Moon Knight and they had me at the "face incident". Since then I've tried to read everything else with him in it and I'm slowly going through the original run from the 80's, which is very different from how the character is now. Maybe Lemaire's run next? :D
@PlayForLOLs ....Yeah, Doug Moench (creator of Moon Knight) wanted him to be a superhero with an evil mercenary past he's trying to redeem and he used his Blood money fortune to help fund his vigilante career. His Moon-copter was suppose to be Marc Spector's attack helicopter from his past that was modified by Frenchie to be Moon themed. Marc Spector can no longer go out in public as himself since he's wanted by the CIA for leaking info about their Mind Control program and Marc is wanted by various terrorist groups. So that's why he created the Jake Lockely disguise to have a normal life and to learn of the latest crime sprees through gossip. Steven Grant was to mingle with the higher class folk and use Marc's fortune without seeming suspicious. Frenchie was in hiding too which is why when he had to go out in public, he had several different disguises. But mostly he stayed behind in the copter or stayed in the mansion. Also Moon Knight only had 3 gadgets, Khonshu was just a statue but he screamed or melt it's shape to another form from time to time, and Moon Knight's villains were all either from Marc Spector's past or based on Fictional Conspiracies. Ever since Brian Michael Bendis touched Moon Knight in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics from 2004, Moon Knight comics went downhill and became a completely different character. At the end of the day, I wish Marvel would stop publishing Moon Knight comics and give the rights back to Doug Moench so then the character can eventually die with his creator. Never to be tainted by another writer's latest "vision" again.
Moon Knight fans better have my back on this one. Sideways is not DC's Spiderman, and Moon Knight is not Marvel's Batman. They are separate characters that have totally different powers, and hold very few similarities to who they're "ripping off", but still suffer the BS
Why did DC make sideways their Spider-Man. They had Static and Blue Beetle that fit that role way better in my opinion. For marvel I always felt Daredevil fit the Batman role being that gritty down to earth hero.
@@jiabryant533 the slight mask similarities and goofiness really led everyone to brand him a spiderman ripoff. Even though his powers are trans-dimensional travel and teleporting. Am pretty cool with Jamie being bitter about having the scrab it remain me of the Stan and Kirby era of spiderman were Peter was a downer most of the time.
Back when moon knight first started out the Batman comparison was somewhat valid. Rich dude in suit uses gadgetry to fight crime. But now yeah they are very distinct characters

is anyone else seeing this weird black line to the left of Ethan's head? and there's like this little one to the right of Tiffany's just next to the green lantern lantern?
MY favorite Moon Knight moment of all time is in this run. Its when Iron Man brings Marc in to get registered for the superhuman registration act. And he does this knowing full well that Marc will be deemed insane and thrown in an asylum. But the psychiatrist sent in to evaluate him for registration is found praying on his knees to Khonshu in front of Moon Knight and he's passed the evaluation and set free. Its like, so good it so many ways. It shows how manipulative Khonshu is, it shows how flawed the SRA is because someone as obviously unstable as Moon Knight can pass it, its just so cool.
I’ve been reading a lot of moon knight lately old school the book here just some great reads here’s to the comic pop family for being kind and just great people 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Literally at work and screamed “OH MY GOD THEY FINALLY DID A MOON KNIGHT STORY ON BACK ISSUES!!!!” now my coworkers are looking at me like I’m a psychopath
Anyone else noticed Sal saying they „also have Annihilation on Back Issues” when he was showing the poster? Does it mean it’s recorded already? DOES IT MEAN ANNIHILATION IS COMING HELL YEAH :D
This run is definitely the one that made me first have any interest in Moon Knight. The Bendis run killed it for me, but Ellis brought him back in a big way. Been great ever since, but it all started here.
This Trade was my first real exposure to Moon Knight Prior to that I'd always thought he was Marvel's attempt to rip off Batman but with worse branding After reading it I realized Moon Knight isn't anything like Bruce Wayne but he's what happens when someone like Marv from Sin City tries to be Batman
I bought this run after watching this episode last year, need to pick up Ellis' run, considering he wrote my favorite comic of all time [transmetropolitan] I don't know why I've waited this long. to comixology robin!

Love moon knight! Thank you for this episode, now I’m going to re read my copy haha
Moon Knight is crazy and seems like a good read. I bought a volume ages ago, I'm gonna finally check it out today
My favorite videos are edited panels of Moonknight comic where he says random crap, and it’s just crazy enough to actually be in the comics
Always love me some moon knight, also as somebody who loved bendis' run I can't wait until it gets it's own back issues and the comic pop treatment
Oh man my favorite show is doing my favorite character! Thank you Sal!
I’ve always wanted to get into moon knight now I have a place to start thanks.
LOL when Frenchie comes up around the 7 minute mark......
This Trade was my first real exposure to Moon Knight
Prior to that I'd always thought he was Marvel's attempt to rip off Batman but with worse branding
After reading it I realized Moon Knight isn't anything like Bruce Wayne but he's what happens when someone like Marv from Sin City tries to be Batman
I bought this run after watching this episode last year, need to pick up Ellis' run, considering he wrote my favorite comic of all time [transmetropolitan] I don't know why I've waited this long. to comixology robin!
