Since less of their work has people on the roof, they have less of an insurance issue.

On data caps: I have Comcast and I stream A LOT of Twitch. I recently noticed on Comcast's account page it keeps track of how much data you've used and says under that "250 Gb cap suspended." Well that worried me so I called them and the customer service person had no idea what that even was, so that almost worried me more. Especially because I had used over double the cap (there were 5 other people in the house that all LOVED Netflix on top of my Twitch habit). So I don't know what that is about but I'm going to be spending some time reading through my Comcast contract to see if I accidentally agreed to a data cap that they never told me about.

You can also break into a Linux machine by editing the grub boot command to tell the kernel to load bash as init. This is why you set grub to not display or have a hidden display. It makes recovering a borked system require a recovery drive but that's fine. Yes the exploit might still work but good luck pressing it that many times between post and kernel load. Not to mention...just Luks crypt your drives and it doesn't actually matter. Also to be fair this isn't a Linux exploit. But yes grub is the most popular bootloader used on Linux systems.

The home phone line actually serves a purpose at my house. Since it's a landline, it is actually powered through the phone line. When the power goes out in an ice storm, and and cell phones have lost their charges, we can still contact 911 or other emergency services. (I live far from the city, and it can take up to 3-4 days to restore power after a bad ice storm or tornado)
Kinda funny how Canadians in big cities usually have better access to things like big movies, however I saw Star Wars Friday opening night in my home town, bought my tickets around 3pm on Friday, walked into the theater 2min before it started got a decent seat in a half empty theater!! Where as Luke cant even see it for another week or something in Vancity! Granted it was the 10:15pm show!

I seen the article where that community came together and built their own isp, it was pretty slick they were stuck with speeds of less than a megabyte and if all of them were online it dropped significantly they got tired of waiting on the isp around there and finally built their own with the exact tech you guys are talking about it was really sweet I'm stuck at 10mb a second where I live wishing I had the cash to do that lol.

FAA regs isn't just for "drones" it covers all RC aircraft between .55 and 55 pounds and it is a pilots registration not an aircraft one so $5 covers you and all of your aircraft. It's $5 for a three year registration.

the money for "drones" comes from added workload on the national airspace system. they will be recognized in airspace, and traffic will be adjusted accordingly. operating anything in the air now days adds a lot of workload/price. now adding air traffic service to millions of new aircraft costs alot.
