I have faith but I am really really being tested right now with my 18yr daughter who is suicidal and drinking excessively while my 30yr old son said something sexually inappropriate to her to my fur baby who is like my own child being sick. It’s more than I can handle at times. I’m so confused and shocked by everything that is happening. God help me and my family.

I asked God for a Scripture to give you, and He brought Psalm 46 to mind. Psalm 46:1-5 (NIV) 1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, 3 though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging. 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells. 5 God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day. I just prayed these verses over you. I literally prayed them line-by-line: "God is YOUR refuge and strength." Because of your faith, I replaced the words "her" and "she" in verse 5 with references to YOU (God knows your name). We know from Scripture that as believers, we are temples of the Holy Spirit. You have been made holy by the blood of Jesus and are a "holy place where the Most High dwells." Therefore, the hope in Psalm 46 is for YOU: "God is within you, you will not fall; God will help you at the break of day." May you continually tap into the source of life so that your "river" doesn't run dry. May you trust that God will provide you with the strength, moment by moment, to pour into your family (including your fur baby), knowing that God will never stop pouring into you. I spoke faith even when I wasn't 100% certain and the very next day after doing so, my prayer was answered! Although many disagree, I've found calling things that are not, as though they were, to be one of the keys to faith.

You are a beloved child of God, Jeff. He sees you. He hears your prayers for healing. And He has a plan for you that is good because it is designed to draw you closer and closer to Him. When Jesus looked Peter in the eye and said, "You of little faith. Why did you doubt me?" If was AFTER he rescued Peter from sinking. Peter had the faith to step into the waves. But then he got scared. And Jesus continued to love him DEEPLY. I think you already know the truth about your faith and how strong it is. Don't let anyone lie to you. God sees your heart and He knows the depth of your trust in Him. I hope that you won't judge yourself (or your level of believing in God's power to heal) by whether God heals your breathing troubles. Just like with Paul's thorn, God's strength is made perfect in your weakness. I don't think you need to do anything MORE other than to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. And love your neighbor as yourself. I am praying for you even now... I ask in the mighty name of Jesus for complete healing of Jeff's breathing troubles. I don't pretend to know Your will, O God, but I do know that if we ask according to Your will, You will give us what we ask for. (1 John 5:14-15) I ask for peace of mind and heart as Jeff waits on You, O God, and trusts in You and Your perfect will for him.
