Went on the train with my Dad and eventually got in 20 minutes before kick off right at the back in the Saints end. Even now , 36 years later, I still cant believe we lost his game. I was physically sick afterwards outside Wembley,lol!
Gutted..I was there in 1978.. Posh seats £8, My Dad & Grandad were in the cheap seats £6.50 each... Stands must have been £4.00..!!! Driven down in my dad's Hillman Avenger estate 'shitty brown colour'... Took 4hrs from Newton-le-Willows.... St.Helens supporter through and through.. still hurts now...!!!
My uncle was playing here for Saints, George Nicholls, he won the Lance Todd for this game, on the losing side!!!!
