I clicked on this so fast when I saw the name John Creasey. I have been trying to collect all his "The Toff" and the "The Baron" books since I first read them in the seventies. They are hard to find.
The show is always good but this one was exceptionally interesting, especially the unique first round. Never seen anyone speak as fast as Bud Collyer does at 23:48 when he knew the show was running late. It’s a credit to him that every word was perfectly pronounced!
I would just like to point out a mistake they said in this episode of the show The King of Norway in 1963 was King Olav V not Fredrik The King Fredrik they speak off would be King Fredrik iX of Denmark The last King called Fredrik that was King of Norway was Fredrik VI who ruled from 1808 to 1814.
The name of CONTESTANT #2: Emily Hochfein (Field hockey champion) is misspelled in the description. It should be Emilie Hoogeveen. She made her debut in the first division at age 16 and won 5 national titles. During the World Championship in '63 she was spotted by the CBS TV-studio and was invited to appear in "To Tell The Truth", which gave her the opportunity for modelling work. Later she became the director of her own modelling agency.
I am going to write a complaint letter telling them that they should leave at least a minute to talk to the ‘REAL’ person about their accomplishments!!! OOops, this was 60 years ago 😅
I very much liked The Swedish lady's hair style...perfecty 60's....Lady Gaga has become such a fashonista she could pull it off to good effect. Everything comes back even the sixties.
* John Creasey ( 1908-1973 ) Gordon Ashe , Michael Halliday , and J.J. Maric were among this English mystery writer's many pen nanes . His inspector WEST AND GIDEON series are the most popular ¤¤¤¤¤¤
I've always liked John Creasey's work, especially the 'Toff' series of mysteries. He does a nice job of phonetic spelling for the Cockney accent, so you can hear it in your mind when characters like Bill Ebbut and his wife are speaking. it's good to finally know what he looked like.
Bud makes what he does seem easy but it is not. He has to make sure the show ends at the exact time it should. Did you see how fast he was talking at the end? Sally Ann Howes is gorgeous. Love the beehive on #2 of the 2nd game.
Lady Randolph Churchill had a rather unladylike snake tattooed on her wrist. At the time, however, it was extremely fashionable for upper class women and socialites to get expensive tattoo work done, and the strategic placement meant that Lady Randolph could cover up the ink with a chunky bracelet when necessary. Like mother like son, young Winston got an anchor on his arm.
Fact or Fiction? I looked this up, too. I mean all three contestants said Lady Churchill had tattoos “all over her body”. It was really just rumor. No one truly knows anything. In photographs you can’t see a tattoo on her wrist or anywhere else. The infinity snake was very popular. Sounds ghastly and unladylike to me, too, but it wouldn’t surprise me if the Lady had this one. But, it is definitely untrue that she had tattoos “all over her body”. I thought that was going overboard, even for her. Winston Churchill’s tattoo is documented and photographed. If Lady Churchill had one, you would think it would be, too.
Incidentally the real Milton Zeiss was not truthful. It's now considered highly unlikely the Lady Churchill had ANY tattoos at all, certainly not covering her body with patriotic designs.
Ya know between What’s my Line and To Tell the Truth it seems like this show here rushes through everything so fast yet What’s My Line is nicely paced, they have lots of time to chat and I like it more. They both are 1/2 hour shows, I don’t understand why Goodson and Toddman didn’t fix this show
Agreed! They should’ve had two segments instead of three - especially when it came to contestants who were very accomplished or who had done something heroic.
@@leannsherman6723 Yes, exactly! The panel has so many questions after each round yet the host says, we'll talk about it after the show! 🤯 WE want to hear those questions answered too!!!
I completely agree with you, and I've been trying to figure out exactly why it is. WML never seems rushed, yet they always have 3 rounds, and often 4. I'm really at a loss as to why TTTT seems rushed, while the panelists really don't have a lot of time to ask questions. I'm glad you posted this, now I know I'm not the only one who notices the difference.
@@rmelin13231 sadly there’s not much we can do about it now 😊 But in retrospect they were, and still are if you ask me, really great game shows compared to what we’ve got now in 2023 (except for maybe the Americas Got Talent shows)
Thanks for getting rid of that awful Cass woman. The panel suddenly no longer utterly vacuous, continually asking nonsense questions to show off, actually, what they think they know and DON’T. Guests faces were all too typically covered with disgust or disbelief. Kitty’s still there going on about how much she knows based on her store of stupid factoids, but less of that noise now.
Somehow, cigarettes and 'God Bless You' in the same breath just didn't seem right. It was an era of addicted, ignorant, misled people by evil doers who wanted to make money on the lives of others! So many died from smoking and sadly still are!!!!!

That beehive hairdo in game #2 defies gravity!
Santa at Macy's...bless his heart :-)

I knew Milt in the late 60's from a magic club in Milwaukee.
I'm surprised John Creasey found time to go on the show!

Sally Ann Howes is so pretty and charming. I only know her from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Dead of Night, but I've always liked her.
Correct name is Emilie Hoogeveen (b. 1943).

@Alexandra Nicoletti Dominguez I prefer The Toff and The Baron series myself. Have you tried them?
@@teriannebeauchamp254 oh... No... I did not...
However... Thank you for your valuable suggestion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Santa! How cool!
If I could go back I'd cast Hockey Plyr #2 as the Eurpoean villioness in an Austin Powers movie.
2:15 The slowest descending of the stairs in the history of the show?? 5:43 Kitty's phony baloney smiling and laughter vanished as quickly as it came.
Frightening!! 😮
John Creasey was also a contestant of the 70's version of TTTT!!!

Anyone catch the name and occupation of the third contestant in the second game? Accent was too thick for automatic captioning and me!
He said he was the Captain at a restaurant, and Santa at Macy's.
Man #2 in Game #1
Lady #1 in Game #2
Man #1 in Game #3

Sally Ann Howe’s voice was tough to take. 😣
Bennet Cerf got a mention! (I don't know his son)
Chris was not well liked when he worked for Sesame Street.
TP seems to think that everyone should know the insignificant names that he knows.
I’ll never understand tattoos.
The novelty has definitely worn off. 😬
I think they got tired of people in these comments complaining about them handing out Salem cigarettes, so they went to Winstons instead.
And a carton of Winston’s on your way out 😖
Salem must have gotten smoked out by Winston

All the people on the show are ghosts😂
Oh , no
Field hockey #2: I’m glad that hairstyle went out of style, hopefully to never return.
