I've been a Scream fan for a while now. But if you're ever wondering why I got into the franchise, the answer to that question goes all the way back to the late 90s and early 2,000's with an IP called Scooby-Doo. When I first watched the original Scream Trilogy back when I was in my early to mid 20s I realized something, both franchises are very similar which led me to easily become a fan. Both franchises rely on Mystery, humor, suspects and whose behind the mask. The only difference is that the villians unmask themselves instead of the characters unmasking them. Sidney is your Fred, Daphne and Velma while Randy is your Velma. Both franchises both took inspiration from each other as well. Scream 3 is very Scooby-Doo like and Scooby-Doo: Camp Scare/Stage Fright are very Scream like.
