Thanks for the upload. Pluto is very cheeky. I've got a five year Quaker girl, Annie, she is wonderful, also very cheeky but not as chatty as Pluto. They make a wonderful pet. Annie is very spoilt, she has her own bedroom and when I'm home spends all her time on my shoulder bossing me around.
❤ sweet and adorable Pluto ❤ and his cute little chattering. Quakers are adorable. My Senegal gets a bang out of listening to Pluto. They are both the same size.
Pluto loves listening to other parrots chattering too. So cute how they can pick up on it. It’s especially funny when Pluto hears himself. He starts saying the same things in the video. 😂
Thank you for the feedback. I am glad you are having some success. Just remember to be consistent and continue with the training in small spurts a few times a day and always finish on a positive note. Be sure to give him lots of praise. :) Let me know how you are going in a few weeks.
Very nice vid for training your bird pet! Love Pluto keeps on fluffing up and talking at the same time she talks and being all cute, bobbing his head lol typical cute, cheeky quaker parrot :D
hey ,if anyone else is searching for how to train a parrot to talk try Hopandar Amazing Parrot Helper (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my partner got amazing results with it.
I'm happy to have found this vid. I'm handfeeding and beginning to train a baby Quaker parrot myself. So far, my Duckie isn't taking to it. But she's the Sweetest, most loving little thing. Wouldn't trade her for anything!
I was going to ask if this was same bird in your recent vids. But, I've watched some much older vids and am Excited to see Pluto is Still thriving as are You !! I must say, I do like the lighter color of both Your hair....lolol.
THATS INSANE 12 years later and I’ve come across an owner with the exact same name as me!!!! I have an adorable little blue Quaker whos just turning 1 soon :)
Love pluto and love his name to . I lost my parakeet red rump last Thursday the 7 of jan 2021 . My bird had lovebird and parakeet food plus veg and fruit .what main food seen do Quaker parrots have ? Is it the propper parrot food or not thanks in advance .
So sorry for your Loss Andy. You must be really struggling right now. Birds leave a huge gap as they tend to make a lot of noise and so when they leave us things are just too quiet. I am glad our videos are helping to bring some comfort to you. Pluto eats a wide variety of foods and his favourite food is what ever I am currently eating. haha But typically he mainly eats a variety of pellets and vegetables. I am no expert on feeding parrots and recommend you take a look at the videos from @birdtricks here on RUclips
Oh thank you so much I have ordered a training clicker . And it so right they do leave a big gap she would always say what you doing before where u been . She was amazing saying she was a red rump has they are very hard to get to talk . Thanks again andy
ooh it's tricky! I have a very stubborn quaker, who ven when my finger is pressing on his belly and i do the other hand behind to encourage him to go forward..... he chooses to jump over my finger!!! I'm keeping trying, and am determined!
I just got female Quaker. a neighbor had her for about 8 months and now gave it away to my grandmother.. I need some advise on how to get her to like me.. Everytime I try to get close she starts moving away or flying all over the cage. lol.
I just got a parrot a couple weeks ago. I do react to his biting and it's hard not to but it hurts :( Since he will not hop up, I can't get him away from his cage and he is territorial of his cage.
hey im 12 and have had expirence with day geckos red belly toads and newts and ethiopian frogs. i have currently a 10 gallon fish tank and a chepa easy green anole lizard. do you think this is a good starter bird cause ive never had a pet bird before and if so if i keep it in a room across the hall where i sleep inn the top floor will i hear it at night? or will i hear it at the second floor?
hey ,if anyone else needs to find out about how to teach a parrot try Hopandar Amazing Parrot Helper (just google it ) ? Ive heard some great things about it and my co-worker got great results with it.
Try taking it back a couple steps. If your bird is aggressive towards your hand I suggest you take my advise as my conure and Quaker were the same way! If your bird is new let him take a couple days to himself to get use to you, the things around him and his cage.. If you have already done that and your bird is used to Your voice and his surroundings you can move to the next step which is training.. A good training method with all birds is clicker training, you can buy a simple clicker at your local pet store in the dog training section it cost about 2-3 dollars, for clicker training all you do is click the clicker and give your bird a treat, once he has associated the click with a treat you can move to target training. Target training is just as simple, it basically just a stick (like a chopstick) all you do is get your Quaker to touch the end of the stick if he does this you can give him a treat! (Always click the clicker right after he does what he is supposed to do, then reward him with a treat) keep making him touch the end of the stick until he is now following the stick around the cage! Once this is done you can open the door to his cage and get him to come out using target training he eventually will, and you will soon have a bird that follows the stick everywhere! Once this happens you can place your hand by your bird and make it so that the bird has to step on your hand to get the stick please use the phrase "step up" or "up" when doing this... If all this doesn't make sense please google "how to clicker train your parrot" and " how to target train your bird" I hope all this helps! It is also great for bonding!
Hi Awsome video. Could you tell me please how to stop my qp from biting. He steps up fine but like to have a nibble on your fingers too. I just want to have him so he doesnt bite. Ill try small but often training sessions
I just got a parrot a couple weeks ago. He is nine years old. His past owner said it will take him 3 to 4 weeks to get used to me. He has come to me a couple times. I do react to his biting and it's hard not to but it hurts :( Since he will not hop up, I can't get him away from his cage and he is territorial of his cage.
My mom's quaker seems to hate everyone but her!! she does step up with mom just fine, but any time I try to put my finger next to her for step up, she just wants to bite . any advice ?
I just bought a Quaker parrot and she/he is very sweet but it keeps biting me but with very TEENY TINY bites which hurts. Meaning it doesn't take wide bites. Any idea what this behavior could be? I believe its only a few months old.
Hi Felicia, it sounds like it could be nibbling you? Pluto nibbles me all the time and it does hurt a little bit. He’s so active with his beak he is constantly nibbling at my fingers or neck or clothing or his own feathers and feet. Does that sound similar?
I have had a sun Conure for 17 years and sometimes she bites my hand when stepping up. I will admit that when she starts to lunge I move away. Is it better not draw beck and just suck it up?
It’s really hard to do but ultimately ‘yes’. ‘Usually’ the reaction can be rewarding but it can also become a habit. It may have begun because you pulled away and made her feel unstable and now she is never sure if you’re going to offer her a stable finger to hop onto. What happens if you offer a stick? Maybe start with that, then hold the stick closer and closer to the end as she become more confident getting on without biting until she is stepping direct onto your hand again. :)
I have a one year old male, and no matter what I do he just seems unhappy and won't talk.. I've had him for a little over a month and i know they very for talking. It could be the day you bring them home or a year after. I just want him to stop being so scared of his toys in his cage and actually like me besides just stepping up. I gave him a bigger cage, new toys, changed them around. He doesn't seem to feel very safe.. Does anyone have an idea on what to do?
francesca wareing I think she said that she never really knew, but figured that Pluto is a boy, considering it has never layed an egg, which is reasonable.
Shirley Grech it's completely normal, it is one of the bigger features of the bird, they are always (almost) moving but, the wings thing might be for mating, I have a male cockatiel that used to do that until I got him a mate, now he stopped.
Maybe he/she is trying to tell you something. :-) :-) nah just messing, I have read that that is normal on the breed. They tend to become more attach to one person. Your boyfriend shouldn't take it personal. Talk to someone who is more experience and see how you can work around that. Is really not that he/she hates your BF...
+kat taylor they do typically become more drawn towards one person but at the same time you don't want him hating your boyfriend. You can try the rescue game where you place the bird on the floor in a safe room and leave and when he begins to call or sound distressed, your boyfriend goes in to save him. Pick him up and give him a treat and then place back on cage without you around. It takes time but will help to build some trust between them.
+Chained Scythe he may not have been handled much before you got him so it could take a lot of time and patience to make him feel secure around you and his new surroundings. Start with lots of happy good boy noises, treats and when holding and training him, do so away from the cage so he feels a little insecure and like you're the one who will keep him safe. Patience is the key here.
It's been 11 years and your still responding! True Hardwork
Thank you. I do try.
So cute to see younger Pluto and yourself. He is talking sf o much already!
❤ sweet and adorable Pluto ❤ and his cute little chattering. Quakers are adorable. My Senegal gets a bang out of listening to Pluto. They are both the same size.

Sounds like you are explaining to the humans and Pluto's explaining to the birds!
Thank you for the feedback. I am glad you are having some success. Just remember to be consistent and continue with the training in small spurts a few times a day and always finish on a positive note. Be sure to give him lots of praise. :) Let me know how you are going in a few weeks.
He sounds like a little baby!! I love him

Pluto is clever and very talkative.

he's like a slinky on a stairmaster 3:49 but I can say your advice worked for me & my parrot
Did he say "No fear" then squak at you? That's so cheeky...he's adorable.
THATS INSANE 12 years later and I’ve come across an owner with the exact same name as me!!!! I have an adorable little blue Quaker whos just turning 1 soon :)
Such a cute bird :D
How long after getting your parrot should you wait to start this kind of training
I’d be training the hop up straight away. It is a form of bonding together.
Thx this will really help because I’m about to let my blue 1 year old Quaker put her cage for the first time
Sweet as, I'll have to try this with my blue quaker oatie. Thanks

Bellissimo lo pure io ma tipo quanto tempo cresce
Hi my Quaker bogging his head and open his wings can somebody tell me what it means pls
Shirley Grech it's completely normal, it is one of the bigger features of the bird, they are always (almost) moving but, the wings thing might be for mating, I have a male cockatiel that used to do that until I got him a mate, now he stopped.
+Shirley Grech is he a baby? If so it sounds like the Quaker bob that the baby Quakers do when they are asking for food.
i have a quaker parrot he is 2yrs
@Mr123Predator Same here i have a ton of experience with other animals but not birds i want to get a quacker (also 12 ) :D
@Mr123Predator A parakeet or cockatiel is a better started bird.
Im thinking of getting one. Are they noisy if left alone when everyone is sleeping?
Is Pluto,loud?
Yes! See some of my more recent videos :)
Do you have a problem when a parrot likes one of you and not the other? My parrot likes me, but hates my boyfriend.

Pretty beeerj 😃
lol 1:15
THATS THE SAME COULOR AS MINE WTF
My quaker doesnt bite but he puts his head down and does everything to avoid human contact, its kinda sad.
+Chained Scythe how long have you had him and how old is he?
I've had him for about a month now.. I was told he is 1 year old.
+Chained Scythe he may not have been handled much before you got him so it could take a lot of time and patience to make him feel secure around you and his new surroundings. i love the fact that he saying hop up. or trying to lol
